⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ A wonderful stay in the heart of Zürich — I would absolutely return! I arrived at the Widder Hotel early in the morning after multiple long-haul flights from Africa, many hours before the normal check-in time. From the moment I arrived, the hospitality was exceptional. Luis and Caterina were incredibly warm and accommodating, arranging an early check-in as well as a complimentary room upgrade — such a thoughtful welcome after a very long journey. My room was beautiful, combining the historic character and charm of the property with all the modern comforts you could want. The spa-style shower was particularly lovely, and the entire room felt elegant, comfortable, and thoughtfully designed. Breakfast was excellent as well. I especially recommend the half avocado with an omelet or scrambled eggs — a perfect start to the morning. The location is also hard to beat. The Widder is wonderfully situated in the heart of Zürich’s Old Town, making it incredibly easy to explore the city on foot. One extra tip that made my stay particularly memorable: the hotel offers a complimentary boat service to and from its sister property, the Alex on Lake Zürich. The Widder staff kindly arranged this for me, and I enjoyed a beautiful lunch by the lake. I would highly recommend taking advantage of this experience, particularly during the summer — it is such a lovely way to enjoy Lake Zürich. Beautiful property, exceptional hospitality, and an unbeatable location. I would absolutely stay at the Widder Hotel again and highly recommend it to anyone visiting Zürich.
Beautiful small luxury hotel. Warm, welcoming service and stunning incorporation of modern architecture into classic, ancient townhomes. The woodwork and painting in the hotel is brilliant. On a quiet, elegant shopping street near everything in central Zurich. Breakfast was outstanding. My travel agent recommended this over Bauer as Lac and I’m glad she did.
We had an absolutely delightful stay in the Widder Hotel. It’s located right in Old Town Zurich and is developed from converted and adjoined historical buildings, yet everything feels brand new and extremely refined in its design—it gives the perfect feel of getting the old world feeling from the city with all the creature comforts and aesthetic pleasures of modern design and construction. Design is clearly a high priority—everywhere you look, the architecture, interiors, furniture, décor, are nothing short of artful. And they are done to cleverly mash-up the history and modernity. It’s almost like staying in a museum—it’s so beautiful. They have a farm they use to supply a lot of the food across the property and the food is spectacular. The breakfast spread and hot menu items, in particular, were one of the best I’ve seen—everything was so tasty. They also treated us to a welcome amenity that was a selection of sweet and savory snacks they made. And, we visited their bar, which is also gorgeous with an incredible menu. My partner is celiac and so we need strict gluten free with no cross-contamination to keep him safe. The hotel took this seriously from the moment I asked the concierge for help. The breakfast team was very helpful with navigating the options, and even brought him gluten free bread. Our server in the bar seemed to understand the issue and take it seriously. And, they even managed to make the in-room welcome amenity gluten free for him, which I would have never expected. We felt very safe with their team.
Superb. The Widder Hotel is one of those rare institutions that pays close attention to detail and operates at standards that go far beyond conventional luxury. I have been a regular guest here for several years, and what consistently sets Widder apart is the coherence of the experience - service, gastronomy and atmosphere - all work together at an exceptionally high level, without any sense of showmanship or excess. The culinary side is particularly impressive. The two-Michelin-star Widder Restaurant, led by Stefan Heilemann, is outstanding, and the fact that breakfast is served in the very same restaurant is a clear statement: there are no compromises here, even at the start of the day. Breakfast at Widder is truly exceptional! At the same time, AuGust, under Tino Staub, offers a more relaxed but equally excellent culinary experience and is by no means a secondary option. The quality and thoughtfulness are evident throughout. Service is another defining strength. Having at least three remarkable concierges - Katharina, Christian, and Marco - all with Les Clefs d'Or, is extremely rare and speaks volumes about the hotel’s commitment to professionalism, experience, and genuine hospitality. Finally, the Widder Bar deserves special mention - an extraordinary whisky collection and award-winning bartenders make it a destination in its own right, well beyond the context of a hotel bar. Widder is a hotel that values substance over spectacle. After years as a returning guest, it remains one of the most consistently impressive and thoughtfully run hotels I know.
