We had a lovely 4-night stay here. The highlights for us were definitely the infinity pool and restaurant views of the valley and sunset and the many free tea sessions we had.
Special shout-out to the resident tea master - she was especially hospitable and had wrote and given us a few pieces of calligraphy.
As animal lovers, we particularly also loved the fact that the hotel had one resident dog, Max and one resident cat, 豆浆 (soya bean). Both were super adorable!
Finally, the Chinese dinners we had were freshly cooked and decent and can be ordered via the hotel group chat in advance. A simple meal for two can be had for US$16.

My stay at No.5 Valley Lodge was honestly one of the highlights of my entire trip to China. The location is absolutely breathtaking — surrounded by the Zhangjiajie “Avatar” mountains and nature in every direction. It felt peaceful, secluded, and unlike anywhere I’ve ever stayed before.
What truly made the experience exceptional, though, was the hospitality. Rain and the staff went above and beyond from the moment I arrived. They were incredibly attentive, kind, and thoughtful throughout my stay, always making sure everything was taken care of and helping arrange transportation and activities for me with so much patience and care. Traveling somewhere unfamiliar can sometimes feel overwhelming, but they made everything feel easy and comfortable.
The hotel itself is beautiful, quiet, and full of charm. My room was unique and cozy, the views were unreal, and the entire atmosphere felt relaxing and special. You genuinely feel immersed in nature while still being very well looked after.
If you’re visiting Zhangjiajie, I cannot recommend No.5 Valley Lodge enough. Thank you again to Rain for making my stay so memorable — I truly hope to come back one day.
We enjoyed every moment of staying here. Very beautiful and comfortable hotel. Close to zhangjiajie national park and they give you free ride to the park. Good breakfast. Super friendly staff specially "rain" was so helpful I bothered him a lot with questions and he was so nice. I wish I could stay there for a month 🤪🤗👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽❤️
We had the best time at No.5 Valley. The rooms were amazing, the ladies at breakfast/dinner room were the sweetest. I'm vegetarian and they made me a yummy noodle dish. Rain went over and beyond for us, got us the National park tickets, sorted out transport, drew us a route and it meant we avoided queues. I cannot recommend them enough. Olivia was also great and helped us throughout and kept in touch via Wechat. Mango our driver.... bless him stayed till we were done late at Tianmen mountain as we wanted to see the lights. My favourite...Max the dog....it was an emotional goodbye because he is the goodest boy. If in Zhangjiajie - you HAVE to stay here!!!
I had an absolutely fantastic stay for one night prior to going into the national park. Everything was five stars. We arrived late and a little road-weary. Frankie came right out and met us as we got out of the car. Check-in was a breeze, everyone spoke English, and then Frankie walked us to our rooms, which were stunningly beautiful. We stopped by the bar that night, which was very welcoming and had some karaoke going on. We chose instead to sit in under a pergola overlooking one of the pools. Then, in the morning we were rewarded with another surprise: there was an infinity pool overlooking the misty mountains, just in front of the restaurant, which had a fantastic array of food options. We sat and had coffee by the fireplace overlooking the pool and mountains. Just gorgeous. Had we known better, we would've tried to stay there a second night, but already had plans to head back to Shanghai. Staying here, and entering the park in the West entrance was, in hindsight, a great choice. The West entrance is much quieter and allowed us to either hike or take the cable car. I definitely would recommend staying here, and hope to return someday.
