If you go buy the ticket yourself at the station it is a lot cheaper, round trip is 132 where it is 264 for two people and I pad 499. The experience is beautiful but you get the same without going thru Viator

Cogwheel train (Matterhorn railway) from Zermatt to Mt. Gornergrat
Even the journey is a great experience with a constant view of the Matterhorn. You can’t get enough of the panorama at the top – mountains and glaciers as far as the eye can see.
The interactive exhibition, which shows the Matterhorn and its surrounding alpine world in all dimensions, will fascinate both young and old and is even a great place to visit on the Gornergrat when the weather is not so good. All tickets which have the Gornergrat as their start or end station include admission to the ZOOOM exhibition.

Great trip to the mountain with little walking. Amazing views! Good for older people, families with young children and those with mobility issues.
Have no idea where and when to meet. No representation near the train station. If the passenger has a Swiss half fare card the discount should be honored during booking.
Perfect day for trip to Gornegrat Summit offering great view of the Matterhorn. My only regret was purchasing two tickets in advance from Tripadvisor site. As this was just a round trip ticket for train ride, which runs continuously throughout the day, I found that I could have easily purchased tickets at the ticket window on day of journey and saved $200 USD. My bad, live and learn.
Gornergrat was a very worthwhile experience. Ride up was very scenic. Technology to get to these high altitudes is incredible. I am almost 79 and did experience some altitude limitations. Not exactly dizziness but certainly some sense of instability walking around at the top. Took it slow and all was fine. Although in pretty good shape I was glad I had my treking pole. Unless you want to do some hiking etc the trip was easily doable in half a day.
The purchased ticket is for any time during the day. I arrived early and the train was overly crowded with many organized tours aboard. I would have liked some suggestions of less busy times so I could plan my day. The Zoom experience does not open as early as the train arrives with causes many people to push when it does open. I was slightly disappointed that none of the restaurants were serving those of us from the train until a later time. The day I went it was snowing and cloud covered. If I could have found a nice place for a coffee away from the crowd of people who had never seen snow I would have waited to see if the clouds cleared. I left after walking around outside for about an hour
Overwhelmingly beautiful. We just happened to hit Zermat and the surrounding area during a warm, clear week. We took every cable car and every cogwheel train in to the surrounding mountains that we could find. Go. The glaciers are disappearing. See them now, while you still can.
Fantastic day out, although overcast in Zermatt & drizzling, we thought the day was going to be spoilt. Once on the cog railway, we steadily climbed through the clouds. At first, just glimpses of snowy slopes, and then we broke through and the views were spectacular. We stayed on the top for nearly 3 hours, The Zoooom experience was excellent- don't miss it. Our only disappointment was that we didn't see the top of The Matterhorn, it was in cloud the whole day. Nevertheless it didn't spoil our day. 👍
The tram ride to the top of Gornergrat was full as it was a beautiful day. The views of the Matterhorn was definitely worth the trip up.
You took a train to Gornergrat to see the Matterhorn but couldn’t view it due to haze. Despite that, you enjoyed the experience, especially the light snowfall.
Train ride up was beautiful, the weather at the top was heavy snow & wind so that limited the ability to enjoy the experience. The interactive display was okay, did not justify the additional cost of the ticket. Would recommend not pre-purchasing tickets so that you can choose a day where the weather is more cooperative.
We were blessed with clear, sunny skies in between rainy days. I didn't compute the price difference between securing the tickets online and buying there at Zermatt. It's rather straight-forward, just to purchase the tickets --ride the train - get off, and walk free-n-easy. There's no assigned seats, and the schedule to ride is constant and reliable. Depending on your total number of days in Switzerland, perhaps it would be cost-effective to simply secure the discounted pass for transportation.
Zermatt is very nice and it's fun to travel there in a great atmosphere. Everything is very very expensive. The signage is not good and it is quite difficult to find what you are looking for. We went up to the Matterhorn glacier paradise There was fog at the top and nothing could be seen.
Good trip by the train, beautiful view. The top is gorgeous view, nice place and cold. The Matterhorn and mountains are white with snow. It's very good trip. Next time we will visit again.
Was a neat way to see the area. Loved being able to get on and off the train and hike the trails and eat at the restaurants. Fabulous views!
This tour gives a great view of the Matterhorn and the surrounding mountains. There is a terrace setup with benches where you can sit and marvel at the beautiful mountains or have a mini picnic with sandwiches you picked up or take photos of the picturesque views. The gornergrat railway was relaxing and offers great views on your way up and down. You also have the option to engage in partial or full hiking because they have trails from the mountains going down.
The views are amazing. Train journey very crowded. Let down by the totally insufficient facilities at the top. Giant gift shop but seating for only around 50 for any coffee or soft drinks and snacks. Expensive restaurant .
Touristy, crowded train. Check the weather before booking a ticket. No refunds or exchanges. There was a white out and could not see anything. Looked like Siberia.
It's all about the weather, needs to be clear. Then the experience is unforgettable and well worth it. It's not a cheap experience at over 110 euros per person. But wow the views, especially the iconic Matterhorn.
Fantastic railway line that takes you up to the best Matterhorn viewpoint. The cogwheel railway is a fantastic piece of engineering that takes in almost 60-degree climbs on its way to the top. While it is pricey, try and get in groups on 10 as this significantly reduces the cost, especially if you are only visiting for the day.
It's a must to do when visiting Zermatt. With a Swiss Travel Pass, the ride costs 50% less. You can hop on and off anywhere you want. On the way back, we got off early, hiked down to the Riffelsee lake, and continued on to the next train station. It was the longest and wildest hike in my life (I don't hike much), and the most amazing and memorable.
Best views of the Matterhorn! Cold and windy up there in June, but well worth it. Enjoyed the movie and the little augmented reality paraglide. We hiked down the mountain a couple of train stops and that was well worth it. It was as if you had crashed "The Sound of Music," with the views and experience. The Zermatt side of the train has the better views, although both sides are excellent.
The ride on the Gornergrat Railway is an experience in itself. Then the magnificent mountain world and the view from the Gornergrat. Of course I didn't expect mountain solitude!
It was absolutely brilliant. The ice grotto is included in the price. Super great ice sculptures. Highly recommended. Even the food in the restaurant is fantastic
Very good experience. We went in late October, some pros and cons: Pros: clear and clean weather. The climb provides a wonderful view of the city of Zermatt Not very full, being able to take advantage of each point and stop of the tour and mo own Gornergrat. The opposite side of the Matterhorn also offers beautiful landscapes. With clear day it was possible to see everything within eye reach. Cons: little snow, some points in the observatory was slippery, because it was only ice. Be careful whoever's in tennis this time. The Monte shops close at 4:00. High value (114 CHF per person). Since I had euroil and not swisspass, I had to pay in full. With Swisspass, it would be 57 CHF.
The spectacle of the north face of the Rosà is phenomenal, from Gornergrat you can see the peaks of Castore and Pollux and the summit and all the glaciers below. The ski descent to Zermatt is spectacular.
