Half-day Dolphin & Snorkeling Tour In Mnemba Island Zanzibar

We had an amazing experience on our dolphin excursion and snorkeling trip in Zanzibar with Chichi! Everything was wonderful, from the beautiful ocean views to the unforgettable experience of seeing dolphins in their natural habitat. Nothing short of a dolphin hunt which scares the poor animals. The guides then proceeded to laugh at my partner who was worried about jumping off a boat at a moment’s notice with no prior warning into deep ocean to see dolphins swim past for 3 seconds (swimming scared from all the boats). Very unprofessional with no information about what we are doing and when. Just sounds and hand signals when we get to a spot. Do not book.

I contacted Shishi in the morning regarding a Stone Town tour. Within 2 hours he collect us ant the hotel and drove us to Stone Town where Ali the Stone Town Tour-Guide was waiting. Ali explained the history of Stone Town and we went to a local market where we bought different spices. In the afternoon Shishi drives us back to the hotel. Thanks Shishi

We booked a half day snorkelling and dolphin trip with Chichi after meeting on the beach by our hotel. The service was professional and Chichi was very knowledgeable about the best time to see the dolphins, he was also flexible as we tried to avoid some bad weather. Chichi joined us for the snorkelling to make sure we saw everything and he helped me to enjoy the experience as somebody who doesn’t love the sea! The freshly cut fruit was lovely too!

I contacted Chichi in the morning and within an hour he was at our hotel to collect us. We had the opportunity to snorkel in beautiful clear water, swim with the dolphins, touch starfish, and stop to enjoy freshly cut fruit at Mnemba island. We were 2 adults and 2 children (8 and 11), and we all enjoyed ourselves. Duration of trip was about 4 hours

We swam with dolphin!!! Of note, the tour states 4hrs, but they will go over to ensure you get a chance to swim with dolphin - which we did! Just make sure you have the time as they may go up to 6hrs while looking for dolphin, then they’ll ride over so you can jump out of the boat and swim with them! It’s really amazing. The atoll at Mnemba island is gorgeous and the water is amazing. We often do snorkeling trips on vacation and there were loads of fish, many of which we hadn’t gotten to see before. The crew were lovely and the fruit was cut fresh while on the boat. They arranged travel for us(for a reasonable extra cost), which was helpful as they depart out of Nungwi beach on the northern tip of the island.

Ask for Chi-Chi, he is a good guy. U can negotiate with him but his prices are fair and he is a really nice guy. It was a nice trip, they waited for us on the sandbank and always nice and polite.

Great guy, very friendly and made a fun boat trip with snorkeling and beach stay. We saw a lot of fish and dolphins and could swim with them. Afterwards we went to a area with turtles which was also great

This was probably one of the best experiences I’ve ever done! Our guide, Chichi, was great as he did his best to ensure we saw the dolphins. You can either swim or just look at the dolphins from the boat. We decided to snorkel with them which was epic. It was also great because our guide took some videos for us on our phone so we could just enjoy the experience whilst capturing it for our memories. We also did the sand bank and fish snorkelling. We were also provided with fruit and water on the trip. 10/10 recommend to anyone visiting Zanzibar! We also did a tour of stone town, prison island and the turtle swimming with the same guide on different days. Great guy!

A good professionally organized trip despite rough sea. We could both snorkel followed by Chi Chi’s assistant and swim with dolphins. Our safety was a priority. Fruits fresh and nice. Can definitely recommend Chi Chi as a trustworthy partner.

Friendly crew! Dedicated to making this experience as good as possible. No dolphins seen in the afternoon. Crew said Dolphins usually only seen in the early morning. We did see colorful and beautiful fish near the sand bar. Water was a bit choppy. Didn’t feel safe to see the coral in deeper water areas. Wish there were life jackets on our skiff. Only 2 of the ten boats out on the water looked like they carried life jackets.

Incredible trip and we were very pleased to not only see dolphins but get up close and swim with them. CHICHI was a very good host and took care of all needs and ensured we got up close with the Dolphins.

It was a super exciting experience for the whole family (two adults and two kids 10 and 14 years old). The trip had three stops: swimming with dolphins, snorkelling in coral gardens with plenty of colourful fish, and searching for starfish. Every stop was great. We never thought we could swim so close to dolphins. If we were lucky we had them even 1 m from us. Chichi and his captain were very patient with us and searched for the best places to see them as close as possible. They always told us when was the right time to jump into the water to have the best views and experience swimming next to them. Truly amazing! Coral gardens were beautiful with tons of colourful fish around us (sometimes also thanks to the food our captain used to entice them). During the last stop near Mnemba Island, our captain was diving and bringing the starfish on the board. Within less than 5 minutes he has collected four of them. We had a great time with Chichi and his captain during this trip. Chichi is very friendly, and flexible, and provides good tips for snorkelling. He has a very good price (much cheaper than in our hotel). Moreover, we had a private boat only for our family which was also cool. The fruit he offered (pineapple and watermelon) was the best we have tasted during our stay in Zanzibar. We can only recommend going with Chichi for this trip!

We (family of 2 adults and two kids 10 and 11) went out for snorkeling and to swim with dolfins. We saw lots of cool fishes and our guide help our daughter to swim so that she could see lots! Our guide made sure that we saw dolfins upp close and we git to swim with them. Our guide also told us lots of intressting facts about Zanzibar ond Tanzania.

The tour was great. The guide, Chichi, always went into the water with us to swim after dolphins and fish. Very accommodating and friendly!

We did see dolphins in the wild, but it was nothing short of a hunt for the poor animals. Because it was the off-season, there were "only" 10 boats that had surrounded the animals. We were told that during the peak season, there are 50 boats that are with the animals. I can hardly imagine that. No thanks, that's not for us. If we had known that beforehand, we certainly would not have done it.

No dolphin because high tide and no swimming on the lagoon of Mnemba. Very nice staff but little invested. Too bad we weren’t offered to go in the morning

Byliśmy z Chi Chi na nurkowaniu i delfinach oraz na wycieczce w Stone Town. Wszystko świetnie i bezpiecznie zorganizowane. W mieście czekał na nas przewodnik który w języku polskim opowiedział historię Stone Town i oprowadził nas po najważniejszych miejscach. Wszystko to dużo taniej i sprawniej zorganizowane niż przez biuro podróży. Wspaniali ludzie trzeba ich wspierać !

Le snorkeling à Mnemba était incroyable, nous avons vu plusieurs poissons et les guides étaient super sympa. En revanche, sur la réservation il y avait écrit qu’on allait nager avec les dauphins alors que pas du tout, nous avons dû demander pour aller les voir. Heureusement, nous en avons croisés deux. Nous avons eu la sensation d’avoir payer cher du coup pour juste du snorkeling.
