I spent 9 days at Reef & Beach Resort after doing a 3 day safari in Nyerere National Park, and my time in Tanzania and Zanzibar was honestly incredible. I’ve travelled quite a lot over the last three years, and this has probably been my most memorable trip to date. The hotel itself is beautiful and huge, with so much to explore. The ocean view rooms are incredible. I was actually lucky enough to receive a free upgrade for the first two nights before my safari, and I absolutely loved the room and the views. When I returned from safari I was in a pool view room, which didn't quite compare to the ocean view, although it was still perfectly comfortable. Because of the location of my room, I could hear some of the workers outside and occasionally the cows, but honestly it didn't bother me at all. If you're considering booking, I'd definitely recommend upgrading to an ocean view room if you can, but the pool view rooms are still more than sufficient. The staff were fantastic. Everyone was so friendly and would always greet you with a smile and say hello. The Masai who you see around the resort and on the beach were also a lovely part of the experience. They do try to sell you things, of course, but what I really appreciated was that when you said no, they accepted it and remained friendly. I've experienced the opposite in other places, so this really stood out to me. The food was great, with plenty of choice, and the Italian and Indian restaurants were particularly good. I actually celebrated my birthday at the Italian restaurant and they decorated my table beautifully and sang to me, which was such a lovely touch and made my birthday really special. ❤️ I travelled here as a solo female traveller and felt completely safe throughout my stay. I also did lots of excursions, so although the resort is in a fairly remote and peaceful part of the island, you can easily make the holiday as busy or adventurous as you want. There are plenty of excursions and activities available around Zanzibar. The drink selection was good, and one thing I'd definitely recommend is bringing plenty of small dollar notes for tipping. Tipping is a big part of the culture here and the staff really appreciate it. One of the biggest highlights of the resort for me was actually the red colobus monkeys. Seeing them around the hotel was incredible and definitely one of the highlights of my entire trip. There were also a few friendly little kittens around the resort, which I absolutely loved. 🐒🐈❤️ Overall, I had an amazing time in Tanzania and Zanzibar. Reef & Beach was the perfect place for me to relax after my safari, while still giving me the opportunity to get out and explore the island. If you're looking for somewhere peaceful, beautiful and relaxed, particularly as a solo traveller, I'd definitely recommend Reef & Beach Resort. I honestly can't fault the experience and I'm leaving with some very special memories. 🌴☀️🌊

Hi, We want to thank all of the team for their great and hard work en their kindness. The team is so nice en want to help you in every way. They are always saying Jambo/Hi. Especially we want to give a special thank you to Abdul Akida. His hard work en kindness can not be forgotten. Because of him our vacation was even more wonderfull. He makes us feel welcome/karibu, and he was always up for a friendly talk. Even on our last day, he want to say goodbye in a very special way. He was making our last lunch wonderfull, by setting our table and decorating our table. His actions of kindness will always stay in our minds. The rooms are beautifull and even de resort and facilities are beautifull. They have plenty of bars, and one of the bars is open all night. The location of the resort is quite far if you want to take excursions through the island. But almost every resort is at the coast/by the beach, so I think it's the same for every resort. The taxi is perfect and you can take them at any time at the hotel entrance. We had a great time at Zanzibar Beach & Reef resort. Thank you for that.
Fantastic resort with great food, beautiful surroundings and incredibly friendly staff. We are really enjoying our stay. The only disappointment is the sunbed situation. There are clear signs saying towels will be removed after one hour, but unfortunately this is not enforced. Some guests reserve sunbeds before 8:00 and only return hours later. Such a shame, because this would be very easy to solve by simply enforcing the existing rule. Apart from that, a wonderful resort!
We stayed here for 12 days but had a 3 day safari and 1 day safari to break it up. Couldn’t recommend the Selous/Nyerere national park trip more highly. As for the hotel when we arrived we were greeted with a beautiful modern room, with an ocean view and close to the rest of the amenities in the hotel. But once we found out we had to check out to be checked back into a possible different room after our safari this left us with slight annoyance and confusion. While I appreciate that they make more money from removing our items, when returning and being given quite a significant downgrade in room, location and view this put a slight dampener on the return to the hotel. Food is fantastic, different every evening, with lots of local Zanzibar dishes. I enjoyed trying as much as possible as did my wife who loved the freshly cut fruit. Large swimming pool in the middle is fantastic for cooling off or sitting around during the day. Plenty of bars with several drink choices on the all inclusive menu. Location of the hotel is quite far away from any tourist attractions and besides Fatima’s shop outside (which is a must visit, has everything and much cheaper than the shops in the hotel) there is really nothing around to see or do, but there are many taxis. Overall a great and relaxing stay but probably will not visit again too soon.
Reef and Beach Resort in Zanzibar. My wife and I spent a fantastic 10 days at this hotel. Everything was top-notch. The weather was beautiful, the room with an ocean view was fantastic, the food was varied and delicious, the restaurants and bars were fantastic. The excursion options were very diverse. We chose the safari in Mikumi Park on the mainland, as well as Stone Town and Prison Island. But the greatest joy of our stay was the incredibly friendly people who worked there. They were always smiling, helpful, and always ready to help. We especially remember Abdul, who always went above and beyond, and Letishia, who was always smiling and helpful. Thank you so much. It was a fantastic vacation.
