We had the best time at Le Mersenne! It’s located a bit far out, which makes it pretty quiet, but they can help you with driver, activities etc so it’s not a problem at all. They also offer their own daily tours, e.g., taking a boat to a sandbank or go snorkeling. We were upgraded to a villa which was great! The villas have everything you need and an own pool and terrace which is great for private relaxing! They are cleaning twice daily, although they sometimes left smaller stains but in general it was always super clean especially the main areas. The whole property is beautifully maintained with a super cool pool, nice bar area, small but great gym and a great Spa! ( can recommend the massage). The restaurant is amazing, we loved the food and had dinnner almost every night there ( octopus or chicken in coconut sauce is just the best!!)! But the best of all were the people working there. They are so nice, friendly and approachable - I couldn’t ask for a nicer atmosphere!! Here I definitely want to point out one special person who made our stay unforgettable: Florence! She is the most amazing person, so nice and we just loved having to see her every day! She even surprised us at our last night with a special dinner just for us on their small little artifice beach area and it was just more than perfect!!! We couldn't have asked for a better memory for our first Zanzibar trip! Thank you so much Le Meresenne!

I had a wonderful stay overall and would rate this property 4 out of 5 stars. The only reason I'm not giving five stars is that the villa felt a bit dated for a property marketed as a five-star resort. I stayed in the one-bedroom villa, which was spacious and relaxing. The plunge pool was a great feature. The only downside was that the bathroom layout offered limited privacy when using the shower or bathtub. I also appreciated how peaceful the resort was. It was quiet, without large crowds or excessive noise, making it the perfect place to unwind. We also enjoyed dinner at LeMar; the pastries on the breakfast buffet were lovely; and for lunch/dinner the food and service were both excellent. The highlight of the stay was the exceptional service. Every staff member was warm, attentive, and welcoming, and the concierge team made planning our activities effortless. Anytime you walk out of your room, you can find staff cleaning the property. So much care is put into it by the staff! Overall, I would happily return to this hotel. The outstanding service and tranquil atmosphere made this a memorable stay, and Zanzibar is a beautiful destination.
We had a great week in July. Upgraded to a lovely, spacious villa with pool on the balcony. Great views and very comfortable. Excellent breakfast. Main pool is lovely. Gym is well stocked and quiet. Beach only at low tide. Hotel is a little isolated but you can walk along beach and reach other restaurants in 20 minutes. My only gripes are that the food menu is a little expensive and the quality not worth that expense. And, in the villas, there is no door to the bathroom area so little privacy. Service was excellent from all - Cosmas was great.
Stay away - the hotel is supposedly 5 year old but looks like it’s 20. I had no hot water, the tap water was yellow, cockroach in the bathroom. Overall the room felt dirty. WiFi is on and off. They then move moved me to another room, were AC was not working, safe was making some noise and hot water took at least 5 min to come in the shower. After I told them they fixed it. No umbrellas at the pool because “they’re fixing them”. Food is very average and very expensive. $40 + VAT for 4 small grilled shrimps that were not very good. Staff are kind but, service is overall very slow. Snorkeling experience was good. Rooms are large. The beach is not swimmable. At high tide there’s nowhere to swim and at low tide, it’s only rocks. Gym is ok, but limited equipment. From one day to another, they didn’t even bother removing the dirty towels. I cannot Marriott keep this franchise.
From check-in to check-out, everything was perfect. The traditional welcome with music and singing, the welcome drink, the genuine smiles and the clear explanations immediately set the tone. You can truly feel the respect for the high hospitality standards, with a team that is caring, professional and very attentive. The room was beautiful, perfectly equipped, with a magnificent view. We were lucky enough to be upgraded to a villa, which completely transformed our stay thanks to the private pool, the terrace and the overall comfort. It was truly an unforgettable experience. Regarding the food, it was excellent. The breakfast offers an impressive variety and it is impossible not to find something you enjoy, whether you are vegetarian, vegan or have specific dietary restrictions. Everything is organized so that every guest feels satisfied. The only small downside would be that some prices seemed a bit high, such as 6 dollars for a coconut. I understand the prestige of the hotel and its positioning, but I believe a better balance could be found on certain items. Apart from that, the facilities are impeccable, especially the gym and the access to the sea. Everything is designed to make you feel comfortable and relaxed. I prefer not to mention any particular names because the entire staff deserves recognition. An amazing stay that I highly recommend.
