Kisiwa On The Beach

Accommodation is in 22 separate lodges, great size, big bed, air-conditioning. There are 2 (maybe more) with plunge pools outside, although the hotel pool near the beach is fabulous. Staff are attentive, and very keen to practice their English!

Kisiwa on the beach is a beautiful establishment set amongst perfectly manicured and maintained gardens. We were welcomed by an entire team of friendly staff and met with beautiful floral arrangements in our room to celebrate our anniversary. Our stay was extremely relaxing and staff are on standby to accommodate any request I had. A truly relaxing and tranquil stay. Asante Sana to all staff at Kisiwa for a memorable stay!

Wonderful boutique hotel with beautiful grounds, pool and well appointed rooms. However what sets this hotel apart is the staff who couldn’t have been friendlier or more welcoming. (Special mention for Juma at this point.) Highly recommend.

Paje, Zanzibar | Honeymoon Stay After our safari adventure, Kisiwa on the Beach was the perfect place to land. From the moment you arrive, the entrance into the stunning open-air dining canopy is breathtaking. It sets the tone immediately — relaxed luxury, natural beauty and ocean air. The resort itself is beautiful and thoughtfully laid out. We never had trouble finding loungers by the pool or on the beach, which made it easy to fully unwind. Our room was incredibly spacious, and we were lucky enough to have a private plunge pool — a true honeymoon dream. Julius, the manager, personally welcomed us alongside several staff members who would be looking after us during our stay. It was such a thoughtful touch and immediately made us feel cared for. Both Steves (yes, two!) were fantastic, and one in particular went above and beyond — recommending a sunset beach bar we absolutely loved, coordinating taxis for off-site dinners, and always making himself available for anything we needed. Every single member of the team — from servers and bartenders to housekeeping and security — was warm, friendly and genuine. As honeymooners, we were especially touched by the palms placed around our door and the floral decorations on our bed. Those little details meant so much. The food was consistently very good, but the standout was the Sunday traditional Swahili buffet, complete with a live Swahili band. It added such beautiful cultural ambiance to the evening and felt like a truly special experience. Every Wednesday they also do a bbq and we just so happened to be there for both of these special dinners, but opted to do a private dinner on the beach which was the perfect way to cap off our honeymoon. Half-board is nice as you don't need to think about anything and gives you the option to go off the resort during the day to the main part of the beach or an excursion for a meal without wasting. That said, drinks are quite expensive on site (around the pool or at dinner) and would be nice for cappucino or specialty coffee to be included at breakfast, but understand this is where resorts typically make their money and allow them to reinvest in all of the upgrades they consistently do. The resort is about a 15-minute walk along the beach to the main area of Paje — a stunning walk during the day. However, it’s not advised at night, so if you plan to explore off-site after dark, arranging transport in advance is important. As a couple who can't always just sit still, it would be nice to be a touch closer to the main beach as the resort gets very quiet at night. Overall, Kisiwa was a peaceful, beautiful and welcoming place to spend our Zanzibar honeymoon. A perfect balance of relaxation, comfort and warm hospitality.
