Booking Kilindi after a week on safari was hands-down the best decision we made. From the moment we arrived, everything felt effortless — the rooms strike a perfect balance between being immersed in nature and feeling fresh, comfortable, and clean, AC included. The food was outstanding, and the staff went above and beyond, planning thoughtful surprises throughout our stay that made it truly unforgettable. We left already dreaming about our next visit.

We spent our honeymoon at Kilindi and had the best time. Our personal villa was beautifully set in the nature, the beach was white-sanded and clean, the food (even for a gluten-free and vegetarian person!) was fantastic and the amazing, joyful staff, like Julieth, went beyond and above to make this experience perfect for us - Everything was wonderful. We had the best massages in the Spa, experienced amazing trips (snorkeling, stone town, spice farm), ate a variety of incredible food everyday, took a fun cooking class, enjoyed wonderful sunset dinners and went on beautiful beach walks. The rooms were super clean, quiet, close to nature and very comfortable. Thank you very much for a week filled with kindness, outstanding hospitality and wonderful memories.

I came here for a honeymoon with my husband and we were both so excited to visit this resort. The rooms were great but having a bathroom with no screens/windows to keep out the bugs was not the best experience lol not very fun to see a bunch or bugs crawling as you’re trying to take a shower and having to walk out your bedroom at 2 am to use the bathroom wasn’t fun. It was great to have our own villa with private pools, only wish there was a pool heater to make it more comfortable. However, each villa comes with a personal server, we had juileth and she was amazing. She was so sweet, respectful, caring and was always there when needed. However, my husband and I noticed everytime we asked for something to be sent to the room, the servers weren’t allowed to use the golf cart, they would have to walk from the main resort all the way to the villas, I thought it was kind of weird and didn’t really like that aspect. However, the location itself was pretty good. It is a hour and 30 minutes away from the airport. The resort has a shuttle but it is $120+ one way pick up, we got our own driver from a recommendation from a friend and it was around $50. For the way back, we met someone on the beach who offers taxi services. I think for a 5 star resort, they should provide free pick up and drop off to tie into the luxury experience. Beware, they give you glass bottles of filtered water, but they do offer plastic closed water bottles which is safer.

We chose Kilindi as our wedding destination and stayed for several days afterward. Without question, it is one of the most extraordinary places we have ever visited. Every detail reflects excellence, and you can immediately see that the resort is exceptionally well run by the general manager. The entire team operates with professionalism, passion, and a genuine desire to create unforgettable memories for their guests. A special thank you to Meaghan, the General Manager, who went above and beyond in every way. No request was too much, and her dedication to guest experience is evident throughout the resort. Kilindi is lucky to have her as GM, she is incredibly hardworking, and her positive, go-getter attitude creates a welcoming atmosphere that makes everyone feel at ease. Another HUGE thank you to Jacob, our butler, he was outstanding—attentive, hardworking, kind, and always one step ahead of what we needed. The food deserves a very special mention. We often struggle with food when travelling overseas, as it can sometimes be bland or lacking flavour. That was certainly not the case at Kilindi. Every meal was exceptional—fresh, beautifully presented, and full of flavour. The chef and his team consistently went above and beyond, accommodating our preferences. If you want something else, you can also chat to the chef, who is more than happy to help. The villas were immaculate throughout our stay. Everything was beautifully maintained, spotless, and cared for with great attention to detail. A heartfelt thank you to Bestina, who looked after our room each day. Coming back to a perfectly prepared villa and finding her thoughtful messages waiting for us made our stay feel even more special and personal. •⁠ ⁠Private Beach – Pristine, peaceful, and perfect for swimming with soft sand and crystal-clear water. •⁠ ⁠Garden Villas – A private sanctuary surrounded by lush tropical gardens. •⁠ ⁠Sea View Villas – Absolutely breathtaking, offering some of the most spectacular ocean views imaginable. A note for future guests: Kilindi is located next to a local fishing village, which is part of its charm and authenticity. From time to time, you may hear fishermen working on or building their vessels by hand. We personally loved this—it offered a glimpse into the local culture and made us feel even more connected to the beauty and character of Zanzibar. It is also only 10 minutes away from Kendwa main beach, which is great for exploring and going on boats—we would definitely suggest the catamaran. For those concerned about nature, remember that Kilindi is uniquely positioned between the ocean and tropical forest. The occasional butterfly, gecko, or insect is simply part of this beautiful ecosystem and adds to the authenticity of the experience. Just keep your aircon on in your room, we had no bugs. There are also crows around the main pool, which can be a little irritating at times. If you are expecting a pretentious place or a polished glass-house style property, this is not that. Luxury, privacy, world-class service, exceptional food, immaculate accommodation, and breathtaking natural beauty—Kilindi delivers all of it effortlessly. We arrived as guests and left feeling like family. We cannot wait to return.
