We love staying at Barry’s It’s become our staple to stay when in between Saadani and PANGANI. Let me break it down so it’s easy to understand. It’s a secluded spot - so no you don’t just drive off the tarmac. There is a lovely sand road that is well maintained and with clear signs. You will only get lost if you don’t know how to read signs. The Google Maps location is spot on. The beach is beautiful and swimmable. At low tide all the villagers drive along it from village to village. The food is incredible. Cooked to perfection, and it’s a delight for someone who is as well travelled. If you have allergies just let them know in advance before you show up. The hospitality and staff are friendly and professional. I am Tanzanian and have visited countless countries - service and staff is what makes the place. Little thoughtful touches - like sunbeds under a thatched hut by the beach, soaps, setting tables to enjoy the views dependent on the time of day - makes this a standout for us. And then there’s Barry - what an awesome conversationalist if you’re interested in having a conversation! Otherwise he leaves you well alone. Yes there is no hot water but it’s the tropics - the lowest temp is 19 deg celsius in the “winter”. I think if you’re looking for some peace by the beach with great food, location and the sound of ocean waves - this is your find. As for the person who complained about service charges - 11,000tshs is about 4 usd - everywhere I travel including in Europe it’s 3.53% meaning for a one night stay at peak season you’re still better off Also I suggest staying a minimum of 2 nights for a real good relaxation point, 1 isn’t nearly enough!

We spent about ten nights at Berry’s Camp. The camp itself is clean; it has an ablution block with a sink. There was lukewarm water from the borehole with strong pressure. Each campsite is equipped with a lapa. Two of the four camping grounds have lights. A power point is available. There were no braai stands or kitchen units; however, I think it was a really good place for overlanders. The ocean is swimmable at high tide. The beach was secluded. The pool was clean and well maintained. Sunbeds were available. The staff were friendly and helpful.
Ahh so many sweet memories I've had at this place. Barry and his team were very welcoming. They had a hot dinner ready for us at 2am when we arrived! And the food was delicious and generous throughout our stay. I still remember the brownie I had for dessert on our last night - one of the most delicious, decadent brownies I've ever had, even after traveling many places around the world. This a place for complete serenity and relaxation. The place is also very secure and private, you can completely relax on the beach at night with no worries. I wish Barry and his team well and hope to taste again those fluffy pancakes 🥞 with maple syrup!
I had only planned to spend a day at Barry's on my way to Dar es Salaam, but after spending a day there I knew I would need more time. Barry has really built an exquisite spot, right on the ocean. The staff was attentive and very kind. But the best part had to be the food! I worked as a cook for several years, and I was still truly impressed. The resort is a little off the beaten path, but don't let that discourage you! You will be warmly welcomed on arrival.
A very relaxing and beautiful resort by the tropical beach. Best food in Tanzania and service minded owner and staff who will move mountains in order to please you. Barry and hos crew are very hard working people who always put their guests first. I even messed up and forgot my passport.Barry drove like a ninja man back to the Airport to deliver it just in time for departure. I can recommend this place from the bottom of my heart.
