Really nice hotel in Nungwi. The staff and the manager Julia are a big highlight, so lovely and welcoming, friendly and helpful. We arrived on the late flight from Paris and our pre-arranged taxi (thanks Ztrans! and Abdul) dropped us off at the hotel after midnight. The night watchman knew we were coming (I had sent a message to the hotel via whatsapp - easy to find on google) and let us into our room easily enough. We formally checked in the next day and the included breakfast was served at the nearby Mahi Mahi restaurant on the beach (they have a breakfast menu with 5-6 choices - very good). We wanted to do a boat trip and debated just getting one on the beach or going with one of the two French women who are well known for their boat trips to Mnemba atoll or other spots. The front desk lady (very nice but don't remember her name unfortunately) said they would look to see if there were spots available and in the end booked us for the second one since the first was full (USD 85-100pp - all day including transfers, lobster/tuna huge lunch; was great). Overall, we had a very nice stay in this hotel. Other highlights for me and why I chose the location, is that I could walk eastward in the early morning to see the sunrise nearby (check the tides!) - in hindsight, I would have dedicated time for a long walk along the east side when the tide is lowest. We also walked from there to Kendwa beach during low tide which was a very nice walk (ignore the touts, fake Masai on the beach, etc. it's a bit tiring but we just said Hapana, Karibu (no thank you) and keep walking). The hotel has a lovely rooftop with a very small pool (it's more a place you can sit in the glass enclosure with a drink and look at the lovely sea or just dunk your feet) - this would be great in hot weather to cool down and relax. There's also a nice bar up there. Overall the vibe is very chill and again Julia the manager is so so nice (she's reachable by whatsapp but is doing a million things so best to get info in person if possible) and has a lot of great suggestions for Nungwi and nearby and also for Stonetown. Another gem nearby is the Busara Local restaurant - IMO the best of the nearby options (we ate there twice); it's outdoors and nice but not facing the sea; the food was delicious (meat samosas and lobster!; seafood platter was great too) and so reasonably priced - don't be in a hurry though, food takes some time to come. Back to the hotel, the rooms are very nicely arranged; each has a outdoor lanai/verandah seating area that is very nice. Bathrooms are nice, there's a standard digital code safe if you need it. They give you beach towels in the reception; staff are all super nice and friendly. Thanks Julia and team!
I booked for 1 month here as was trying the digital nomad thing in Zanzibar for 3 months… and I should have booked the entire 3 months here as it’s perfect. Internet is 100% perfect. Teams calls etc, no problem. Other parts of the island are sketchy but Nungwi is the best for sure. -That’s work out the way!- The view is the best you’ll get in Nungwi for the price - which is unbeatable. Breakfast on the beach is also… unbeatable. Reception, care, welcome, rooftop bar. Also unbeatable.
Well I will miss that place so much. It's not about the place but the people who made our holiday one of the best. Sadia is amazing and she made everything possible for us to feel at home. Julia ... well she is simply the person that makes sure you are okay even when not on shift. Thanks to both of them I'm going home with amazing memories 💕
Our stay was absolutely amazing and I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Zanzibar! The staff is incredibly friendly and went above and beyond to help us with everything we needed, even keeping us updated daily on tide times and local events. The cleanliness is a solid 5 stars, and the rooms are perfectly equipped with a huge comfortable bed, AC, fan, Wi-Fi, and a kettle, coffee and tea. We especially appreciated the bottle of safe filtered water that was refilled every day. The highlight was definitely the large balcony with sea views and the rooftop bar. Breakfast included at the Mahi Mahi restaurant by the Beach (not even a minute of walk) was delicious. The location couldn't be better—just a 1-minute walk from the beach and very close to local shops. We would definitely choose it again!
