Amazing tour with a fantastic guide! Highly recommend, especially if you've done the bigger tours like Chichen Itza that is super-touristy. Eric, our guide, spoke great English and took us to two cenotes that were completely off the grid and opposite of what we had done previously. Really amazing experience!

Itinerary
In Uxmal, your certified official guide will lead a guided tour. During this tour, you will learn about the culture, history, and architecture of the Maya civilization, with a particular focus on the archaeological site of Uxmal and afterwards, you will have to explore on your own or take more photos.
After the visit to Uxmal, we will head to a small town, where we will have a typical lunch at a local eatery.
This is one of the most beautiful cenotes in Yucatán, and a true representative of the open cenote.
It is a cave cenote with mineral formations of stalactites and stalagmites, and the water is an impressively turquoise color. Truly a hidden gem.

It was a wonderful tour-a great mix of activities. Jorge was a fantastic guide-I learned so much and he was very funny. Would choose him again on another tour.
The best excursion I’ve had in Mérida! Uxmal was stunning and the cenotes were very relaxing. Our guide Alice was awesome and helped make the experience memorable! She was very kind and had lots to share with us about the history of the sites we visited. Thank you!
What a fantastic day! Our group of 12 was picked up from our accommodation and we zipped out to Uxmal for a hilarious and educational tour of the ruins. Our guide, Jorge, was very knowledgeable, personable and engaging. I couldn’t imagine a better person for our wacky group. Then to an authentic Yucatan restaurant for a delicious lunch, and then capping the trip w two beautiful cenotes. Fantastic weather, wonderful atmosphere and gorgeous water.
Jorge was brilliant, and had an amazing ability to share both science and stories in a way that connected you to the place. He was kind and thoughtful, and great at keeping us organized and on track. My group had a wonderful time.
Eric Fuentes was a good guide and good photographer! The Uxmal site was great, the cenote also and the lunch was super tradicional yucateco food (3 tacos). The only thing that I would change is, instead of paying for the tickets to the guide in cash, we could get the option to pay at the local site using the visa payment and use the phisical money for other things.
Jimmy and Jorge were the best guides ever! The history of the Mayans and cenotes was incredible and educational! Thank you !!!!! We will be back!!!
Enjoyed the tour. Jorge was fantastic - kind, informative & generous. He did it all! Really appreciated his leadership of this tour & would recommend his tour to anyone. Lunch was tasty. Uxmal was great especially with Jorge’s explanations and descriptions. The ceynotes were remote & enjoyable, but think there could have been more interactive/interesting ceynotes instead - that said, they were still impressive. The tour in general was on the expensive side in my view, but Jorge ensured that it still felt like fair value considering he went above & beyond to make it enjoyable for all.
Our guide Alicia was a star. She was very enthusiastic about all of the places we visited and provided extensive history and details. She was funny and truly passionate about the Yucatan history and people. She shared a lot of information and her tour pace was perfect. We loved the Uxmal tour and the two cenotes we visited. The cenotes are beautiful and refreshing. The lunch was so local, authentic and tasty. It gave us a great feel for the kind and generous traits of the local residents. Alicia was generous with her time and she really wants to share her proud culture with you. We learned a lot. Jamie was a great driver and we felt safe and cared for. Highly recommend. Thank you.
I wish they had better communication because we were not even sure if we'd be picked up at the meeting spot since no one responded. Other than that, the tour was amazing. There was almost no one at Uxmal so we really got to enjoy it to ourselves. The cenotes were very remote and almost empty but absolutely beautiful. Our guide was very nice and helpful.
We had a very special day with Jeorge. He is so knowledgeable and passionate about the archeological site and the culture and a real people person. The lunch was the best we had in Yucatan and the cenotes were magical. Thank you for an unforgettable day
This was well worth the money! Our guide, Jorge, was extremely knowledgeable and very professional. The tour was on time and everything was well explained. The food at the small local town was some of the best we've had in the Yucatan. The cenotes were also amazing! And finally, Uxmal...well, the pictures don't do it justice. A world heritage site worth of the name.
Communication beforehand was inadequate and when there was an issue, I tried to contact the company through the app as well as by calling customer service, but they were unresponsive. Go with another company.
Alicia and Don Jaime (the van driver) were 10 star service people!! We loved everything about our tour: Uxmal, the cenotes, even the lunch, tho not healthy at all, it was very tasty. Alicia is a sweetheart, knowledgeable, kind and keen to our ecosystem. This was our second tour with the company. 100% recomended!
Wonderful guide Jorge! We had a great time.
Our guide, Alice, and driver, Mr. Jamie, were absolutely fantastic - we truly loved this tour. Learning about the epic Maya history and mythology evident at Uxmal from Alice was a treat; the lunch spot offered incredibly tasty tacos; and the cenotes captured the magic of Mayan lands - a perfect way to top off the adventure! Cannot recommend this enough!
Jorge was great! He was very knowledgeable about Uxmal, the Maya people, and their history. What was especially wonderful was how he presented everything through an environmentally conscious lens, reminding us that throughout history, natural resources have been essential to all civilizations, no matter how scientifically or socially ingenious they may be.
It was simply amazing. The whole tour was very well guided and planned. Jorge, our tour guide was very informative as well as flexible with everything. I went solo and that was one of the best tours I have taken through Trip Advisor and Viator.
Jorge was truly superb. Truth. He was pleasant, engaging, and very knowledgeable. He led with confidence and a very educated basis. The trip included people from 5 countries I think. He did a great job blending the tour experiences well with everyone. The sites were well chosen and everyone agreed this exceeded other Mayan tour experiences. Uxmal was simply amazing. I wanted more time, but we all needed to move on. Will certainly go back on my own someday. Our family group of 5 thoroughly enjoyed the day. We all slept well. We hope to cross paths with Jorge again someday. Very personable man.
A great and varied day out. Informative tour of Uxmal followed by magical and cooling Cenotes.
Jorge was an INCREDIBLE guide! I learned so much about Uxmal, and it was the most informative tour I've had so far. He was friendly, helpful, and endlessly knowledgeable.
A fantastic tour. Jorge was an incredible guide with the greatest depth of knowledge. He looked after us really well and was able to give us the richest of tours whilst also being honest about common misconceptions about Mayan history. He deeply cares about the environment and that is at the heart of the message of the tour. We had a fantastic time with our two young children who really enjoyed the tour. We really loved the authentic local lunch and the two cenotes were fantastic especially the open one which really was beautiful. This is nature and history at its finest combined. Highly recommended
I thought the experience was excellent. Erik did an amazing job with the tour. I have been on many tours and this was one of the best I have ever been on. I also went on the celestun trip with his company and again it did not disappoint. My only regret is not scheduling more time to take more of their tours. The food places they selected were great, the ride was nice, and they are very friendly and knowledgeable about the region. If I'm in the region again I will not hesitate to book another tour with them. Would I recommend them to others.?.. absolutely and I already have told my friends and family. They are jealous of the adventures!
Our guide, Alicia, was very knowledgeable and engaging. Uxmal was fascinating and our experience was enhanced by the information she gave as we walked through. The ceynotes were beautiful! A perfect way to round out our day trip!
Sergio was absolutely amazing! Everything was prompt but did not feel rushed at all. Sergio provided so much knowledge and great energy. I would definitely do tours with him and Viator again!
Really enjoyed our trip! Jorge was such a great guide and made the day unforgettable. Would highly recommend.
Originally we were going on the celestun tour, but due to unforeseen circimunstances we had to switch tours the night before. Everyone we communicated with at aventura was incredibly helpful and made the transition very easy. Uxmal is stunning and so were the cenotes. The food was incredible and Sergio our tour guide was fantastic, super knowledgeable and a very nice guy. Jesus was our guide in uxmal and he did a fantastic job
Highly recommend booking this tour! Sergio was a fantastic host and clearly has a love for his country and community that he is excited about sharing with guests. The Uxmal tour with Jesus was fascinating and well paced (though I wish we had a little more time to ourselves at the end to examine the amazing ruins), the food was fantastic, and the cenotes were refreshing and beautiful. Would love to book this tour again!
Don’t miss out on uxmal. Incredible site and views. Can’t recommend our guide Jorge. He made the entire experience even more memorable. If you can ask for him.
Jorge was an excellent guide and extremely knowledgeable about Mayan history. The second denote was amazing.
This was a really good tour, made excellent by our very knowledgeable tour guide Jorge. He had a great passion and shared lots of interesting information on not just the history of Uxmal but also of the local fauna and flora. It was nice to share lunch with him and to pick his brains further, and he was happy to indulge our curiosities. Then it was off to the Cenotes, which were both amazing in their own way. The first was not covered and had lots of fish in the crystal clear water. Jorge again was able to inform us of the local wildlife. The second one was more inside a cave, which was spectacular. It was very hot on this day, so I would recommend bringing lots of water (although there are opportunities to purchase more on the day). Also, the facilities at the cenotes were very basic and not as 'polished' as the facilities at other cenotes. However, this is to be expected when going to such rural areas anywhere and didn't detract at all from the experience.
Excellent tour to Uxmal and 2 cenotes. Jorge, our tour guide, was so knowledgeable and made sure we all enjoyed ourselves. I liked the fact that we learned so much from him. Having a scientist as a tour guide is perfect!! He's very respectful and has a great sense of humor. If I could give give him 10 stars, I would.
Great experience with Jorge. If you are up absorbing the academic side of the Mayan ruins, this tour is for you. Learned so much more than the average tour guide. Jorge is a gift to Mexico.
Tour was great and really well organised. Jorge was very friendly, knowledge and has a great sense of humour - he made our day!
A fun filled day first starting with the Uxmal ruins, where guide Jorge was such a pleasure and a wealth of knowledge. So kind and funny. Stopped by for some wonderful local Yucatan food, off to two beautiful cenotes. Highly recommend this trip.
This experience is a must. Jorge, the tour guide, made Mayan history come alive and helped make this an unforgettable vacation. He also was so organized, efficient, communicative, and full of humour and knowledge. Wonderful day exploring, eating, and swimming.
An excellent day trip. Elias picked us up from our hotel in a comfortable air conditioned car. He was very knowledgeable on the area as we drove through. Then he guided us and another group of 4 around Uxmal, with plenty of insights to bring the history to life, and a welcome knack of finding shady spots to stand in while he talked to us about the history and meaning of the various buildings within the Uxmal archeological site! The included lunch at a village taqueria was simple but tasty - best tacos yet!!! The cenotes were well worth the trip and a welcome respite from the heat. (One was open air, the other a semi open cave. Both had steep wooden steps down so not for the infirm!) The day lasted about 7.5 hours. We would definitely recommend.
The guides were very friendly and helpful on pick up. We were with Jorge, who was immediately warm and funny. He took us around Uxmal and gave a really in depth tour, with space for both the tourist bits and his own specialist knowledge. The lunch after, whilst delicious, was not three courses. Rather, it was three tacos. Again, very tasty, but we hadn’t had breakfast because we thought it would be more of a feast. Perhaps worth making clear! The cenotes afterwards were very magical with gear provided and a good chunk of time in both of them. Overall, it was a really excellent day, and Jorge was fantastic.
While we had many fun days in Merida and its surroundings (including another trip with the same tour operator to Celestun), this was our family's favorite day. Getting to see Uxmal without crowds - and before the worst of the day's heat kicked in - was incredible, lunch was delicious, and the cenotes were beautiful and refreshing. The second cenote was particularly special - it felt otherworldly to be in the cave. The highlight of the trip was our guide, Jorge. While Uxmal is incredible to look at, it wouldn't have been the same experience without Jorge. His knowledge of the site, appreciation of the culture, and explanation of the surrounding flora and fauna, as well as how environmental choices by Uxmal's founders impacted the city, brought Uxmal alive. It was wonderful to spend the day with Jorge, and a reminder of how a great tour guide can make the trip. All three of us are still talking about what an amazing time we had. If you are lucky enough to book a trip with Jorge, don't hesitate!
Excellent driver and guide. Full of interesting information and visuals that brought Uxmal to life. Lunch was fresh and tasty, cooked by enthusiastic Mayan family. Cenotes lovely but crowded because it was Easter holidays. Maybe the tour operator could choose less busy cenotes?
This was a highlight of my trip to Mexico, Jorge, our driver and guide went over and above to ensure we had an unforgettable day in the Yucatan, treating us like family. Jorge is incredibly knowledgeable about history and wildlife (and in fact anything). He brought the ruins of Uxmal to life, teaching us how to read the symbols and carvings of each building, telling the story that led to the downfall of the Mayan empire. Jorge's storytelling was evidence-based which the whole group enjoyed, focussing on facts and avoiding unsubstantiated claims that we heard other guides repeating. For this reason the tour feels like you are being led around by a true expert (because you are!). Uxmal itself is much quieter than other well-known sites and offers lots of shaded areas under trees to allow some respite from the sun. This makes for a more intimate and relaxing experience. We were then taken for a traditional Mayan lunch which I was very pleased wasn't at a touristy themed venue, but a very real small family restaurant. The food was delicious and healthy and we really enjoyed the two traditional drinks offered with it, an ice hibiscus tea and a barley drink (a bit like horchata if you've tried that). Again Jorge told us the story of the relevance of the ingredients used and how far their use dated back. Next we visited two Cenotes to cool down. The first was I think our favourite out of the 4 we visited during our whole trip. The water was crystal clear, it wasn't too busy and the walls of the Cenote were teaming with wildlife. Life jackets were provided at both, don't hesitate to get in or you will regret it for the rest of your life! Taking this trip is a no brainer, you could certainly get to Uxmal cheaper by yourself, but you would miss out on the story of the site and on meeting a truly inspirational character (Jorge). The transport was very comfortable and air conditioned and his driving made for a relaxing journey.
An early (7.30) start for a fantastic day with all morning at Uxmal. Light lunch (Mayan tacos) at family restaurant (clean toilets!). Bring swim gear for the ceynote (steep stairs). Back Mérida around 4.15 Great guide and driver Jorge really brings Mayan world to life at amazing Uxmal (as good as Palenque & Chichén Itzá but different landscape and style). Transport really comfortable w ten of us on 16 seater van.
We booked this tour for ruins and cenotes and ended up with a crash course in Mayan history, Yucatecan food, and a guide (Jorge) who was as smart, earnest and engaging as the I’ve ever encountered. He had us laughing and repeating trivia like a master educator. He also incidentally takes a fantastic picture. The two cenotes he chose were great fun and never felt like a crowded tour‑bus stop, and the local restaurant turned out to be one of the best meals we’ve had in Mexico. If you’re thinking about this tour, just book it—then ask for Jorge by name. Whatever they’re paying him, it’s not enough.
We booked a tour titled "Uxmal, two Amazing Cenotes & Local Food Tour from Mérida" and our guide for that tour was Jorge. The trip was very enjoyable, informative, and well worth the price thanks, in large part, to our guide, Jorge. Jorge has obviously worked hard to become very knowledgeable about the facts and history of Uxmal and of the Mayan civilization and he clearly has a passion for sharing that knowledge in a way that is very relatable and enjoyable for the members of the tour. I especially appreciated that he made a deliberate effort to avoid questionable and unsupported folklore and focused, instead, on clear and well-documented information. The cenotes were beautiful and Jorge allowed enough time for everyone to enjoy them. The local food tour was a serving of three delicious items made and served in a local village taqueria with a clear explanation of the cultural significance of the food we were having. I would recommend this tour without reservation to anyone interested in the history and culture of the Maya in Yucatan.
Jorge was fantastic! Very knowledgeable and a great guide, we learnt a lot! He even took pictures for everyone and was a very personable guide. Both cenotes were nice and relatively quiet.
Asked to write a review, and happily obliging because the trip with JORGE was fantastic Highlights: - Jorge’s deep cultural and historical knowledge having researched and written about the archeological sites. He won’t shill you a story, and curates a truthful and impactful story. - Pacing was tight to the timeline and did require a bit of group herding to keep on schedule. - Cenotes were nice, lack of bathroom communicated early. - Traveled with a toddler, and was comfortable and entertained throughout. Thanks Jorge!
Visiting Uxmal was incredible. The site is stunning and far less crowded than other major ruins, which made it even more enjoyable to explore. The two cenotes were absolutely beautiful and a perfect way to cool off in the Yucatán heat. A special thanks to our driver and guide Jorge, who is also a researcher. His knowledge about the region, its history, and Maya culture made the experience far more meaningful. Lunch was also very nice, with delicious local food that added another authentic touch to the whole experience. All in all, great tour!
Our excursion to Uxmal and two cenotes was amazing! Our guide, Sergio, was incredibly friendly and knowledgeable and made the whole trip even more enjoyable. Exploring the ruins of Uxmal and swimming in the beautiful cenotes made for an unforgettable experience. I highly recommend this excursion it was truly a beautiful and memorable day!
Having visited half a dozen Maya ruins in Mexico and Belize, Uxmal is definitely the best preserved I've seen so far, with many sculptures and glyphs still clearly visible. Our guide Jorge was fun, witty and extremely knowledgable, giving us a fascinating insight into Maya culture and beliefs. We arrived around 9am, enabling us to explore the sight in a leisurely manner, and providing ample opportunity to take photographs without crowds of people. Following Uxmal, a 20 minute drive took us to the small town of Muna where we ate an absolutely delicious lunch at Loncheria El Regalo de Dios, an authentic Yucatan taqueria. Possibly the best food I've had since being in Mexico. We then headed to two nearby cenotes, both of which were beautiful, and uncrowded, with warm crystal clear water. Overall a truly unforgettable experience, made all the more better by our wonderful guide, Jorge.
This was our first trip to Uxmal, which I found to be every bit as impressive and Chichen Itza, but without the crowds and aggressive vendors. We then went to two rural cenotes (there are bathrooms and changing rooms); both were beautiful and refreshing and also not too crowded. Sergio is a great guide! Would definitely recommend.
