Incredible experience with LakinTours! We were picked up on time outside our hotel in Valladolid. There were no other couples joining us that day so it was just my wife and me. Sergio was excellent, drove us around in a comfortable air conditioned car, made sure we had a tour guide at both Chichen Itza and Ek Balam, and was very friendly. I would recommend booking with LakinTours for anyone who wants a more relaxed experience instead of those big tour bus groups. We beat the crowds and got to see everything before it got too hot!

Itinerary
We will begin this adventure by collecting to travelers at their hotel by 7 a.m. to arrive at Chichen Itza before the crowds and heat. We will enjoy a guided tour led by one of our certified guides, who will show you the most surprising corners of the ancient Mayan city of Chichen Itzá. On this tour we will talk about architecture, culture, art and history and with a little luck you will also learn a little of the Mayan language. Don't miss the opportunity to get to know Chichen Itza through its temples and palaces that have prevailed for centuries. On the tour we will visit the Great Ball Court, one of the largest in all of Mexico, the temple of the warriors, we will talk about the imposing sacred cenote and of course one of the 7 wonders of the modern world, the Kukulkan temple, among other buildings.
After a walk in Chichen Itza, we will cool off in the fascinating and fresh waters of the Hubuku cenote, located 25 minutes from our third stop (Ek Balam) and we will delight in a buffet of regional food. In this place travelers usually stay for 2 hours to refresh themselves and gain energy to visit Ek Balam.
Did you know that there is a city that the Mayans jealously protected with a triple wall? "Ek Balam" words in the Mayan language translated as: black jaguar, dark jaguar or jaguar star. You will learn from our certified guide the mysteries that this impressive Mayan city contains, touring its rooms and palaces. You will be amazed by the authentic hieroglyphic writing that still survives on its walls. Furthermore, unlike other archaeological sites, here you will have the opportunity to admire the impressive landscape in the top of its magnificent palaces, temples and on one of the largest structures in the entire state of Yucatán: the great Acropolis. Ek Balam will not stop surprising you, you will see one of the most important and impressive tombs in the Mayan world, you will not believe what your eyes will see!! We will talk about history, architecture, culture and much more. If you are in this region, you cannot miss this experience.

I payed for a special package that included Chichen Itza, then stopping at Noolha (an enclosed cenote). After that we went to eat a lunch that highlighted the smoked meats of the region. After lunch we were taken to Ek Balam and climbed the 106 steps to get to the top of the main structure - the Acropolis. I had a great time solo. The highlights were the great tour guides at each stop with connection to the land and Mayan culture. I would recommend this to friends. Thanks so much to our driver Sergio.
We loved this tour. Arrived a little before 8 at Chichen itza. Really busy and a lot of tourists, so was great service that they could get our tickets and we did not have to wait in line. We had the tour with our guide Martin and learned a lot of new things. Then to the cenote: nice and refreshing to swim after the really hot morning. Beautiful place to be and have lunch. Then on to Ek Balam. Totally different to Chichen Itza: smaller and only a few other tourists. You can still climb the pyramid there. Beautiful view from the top. The guide José was also great and explained a lot. Our driver for the day Gustavo was also really helpful and even gave us great suggestions for Valladolid. Would really recommend this tour to all.
The tour to Chichen Itza was good, especially the early morning access because it was packed when we left at 10:30. We avoided the crowds. The cenote they took us to was beautiful and the restaurant was good. The Ek Balam tour was amazing and the highlight of the day! Well worth it. And our driver for the day was very friendly.
Excellent day. Well paced and great tour guides. Picked us up from our hotel and dropped us off there which was super easy. The sites are all amazing and well organized to ensure you get the full experience.
We had an absolutely great tour to Chichén Itzá, Hubiku Cenote, and Ek' Balam. They picked us up exactly on time in a nice air conditioned van and we were at Chichén Itza 20min before it opened and our guide had our tickets ready (heads up it's faster if you let them buy your tickets and pay them in cash, no waiting in line to pay by card when you get there, no upcharge). The guide, Enrique, was fantastic. We've done a lot of tours this trip and he was one of the best, and very knowledgeable. With the timing we got in, we got to the Castillo while the plaza was mostly empty, great for photos. The rest of the tour was super informative and we were glad to have 40min of free time to walk to the cenote. We then drove to Cenote Hubiku which was shockingly empty. By eating first, we avoided the one tour bus that was there because as we were finishing up eating, they were coming out of the cenote so we had the cenote to ourselves for an hour! The food was fine, too. Not the worst tour food we've had. Finally, we did a quick drive to Ek' Balam where our guide Balthazar also gave a great tour. What a cool site that we didn't know anything about! We climbed up to the top of the palace and the view was fantastic. It's been great to learn about old and current Mayan culture. Throughout the day, our driver, Sergio, was great. Attentive, always waiting for us with water, and willing to give some information (in Spanish) as he drove. Great tour! Thanks to the whole team. It was easy to organize over WhatsApp, they were super responsive and always ready with the info we needed.
It was a great experience in general. Our guide Enrique for Chichen Itza is professional and knowledgeable. It was great to see Chichen Itza early as there were not a lot of people. The Hubiku cenote is a nice stopover and the food is not bad there. Our guide in Ek Balam (who I unfortunately did not get his name) is also nice and gave us a lot of information about the site. Our driver Martin is also very friendly and professional and tried his best to communicate with us although he doesn't speak English very well.
A lot of good things to say about the trip, but some mixed feelings too. Loved: getting to Chichen Itza early to get some really great photos before the crowds arrived. Had the Cenotes all to ourselves! Very cool experience. And hardly anyone at Ek Balam which meant a lot of undisturbed access. Didn't love: our driver was not a tour guide so there was no additional information. I wondered why this was so expensive when I had a private all day tour in another city for half the price (the driver was the guide).
I really enjoyed the tour! Best combination of two Mayan sites and cenote. The guides (Henry in Chichén Itzá and Jose in Ek Balam) were very knowledgeable and entertaining. The driver (Sergio) was very nice and considerate. I don’t speak Spanish unfortunately but both guides spoke great English and we have managed to communicate with Sergio well. I was going on my own and also found out that I will be the only person on tour. I was worried that the tour will get cancelled but it wasn’t. The timing worked really well and I had tours before the crowds arrived and I also had the cenote to myself at some point. I highly recommend this tour and this company! It was highlight of my trip to Mexico!
I highly recommend this tour—100% worth it! From start to finish, everything was exceptionally well organized, making the entire experience smooth and enjoyable. Maria, our guide, was very knowledge of the area, history, and cultural insights added so much value to the experience.
This trip gave us a lovely and varied day out, which covered a lot of ground. The fact that the tour started early meant that we reached Chichén Itzá just before it opened, so the bulk of our time there was spent before it became very crowded, and before the heat became very intense. Our guide there, Henry, was wonderful – he gave us interesting and practical insights into the function, acoustics and belief systems surrounding the structures, and was also an excellent photographer. We then got to spend a bit of time on our own wandering around the site, before our kind and flexible driver, Sergio – who ensured we were well supplied with water, throughout – took us to the cenote. We had a buffet lunch at the on-site restaurant before swimming in the gorgeous space. After that, Sergio took us to Ek Balam, and our guide there, William, was fantastic – his enthusiasm, curiosity and passion for the site were infectious, and taught us a lot, in a kind and conversational way, about the decoration, possible functions, and continued archaeological uncovering of the ruins. The buildings are very interesting and have a beautiful setting – it’s more interactive than Chichén Itzá; you can explore the structures in a different way, and it’s perhaps easier to get a feel for it as a space as it was once inhabited. Comparing the two two sites is, in itself, an interesting experience. Would definitely recommend! Make sure to bring cash for the locker and life jackets at the cenote, as well as for tips and entrance fees.
A very beautiful experience and we are taking a nice little piece of Yucatan with today's tour, a memory that will always stay with us thanks to Maria and Sergio who were the ones who guided us and explained the history of their descendant culture. I recommend it 100% and would do it again!!!!!
Very good experience on the excursion with an excellent guide at Chichén Itzá, Eyder, and another excellent guide at Ek Balam, Natividad. They showed us the most relevant parts of both archaeological sites to understand the importance and history of the buildings. The cenote we visited was practically new with good facilities and the food was very good.
It is a pity that Viator does not control the local agencies ... wonderful places, but the quality of the tour guides is not sufficient.
Maria was an excellent Guide. He explained a lot of information and curiosities about both the archaeological sites we visited and the Mayans. Besides that it helped us to know also a little bit of the culture of the Maya currently since she is one of them. He focused on what we visited and not on trying to sell like many other guides. They were very friendly and friendly If you visit Chichen Itza or Ek Balam I recommend them!
Wonderful and the very friendly and Pro agent make you have a memorable experience. I definitely recommend them 100% for people staying in Valladolid
It was an experience that was worth it because no time was wasted, by having exclusive transportation we were able to visit two Mayan cities for a single day.
