Thank you Julio and our guide for being excellent! Celestún was a beautiful, well-cared-for oasis and worth the trip even though we didn’t visit when the flamingos are at peak. That said, the experience was not as described. There was no beach club, there was no pool, there was no walk, and each stop lasted about 15 minutes. Everything highlighted in yellow never happened or was not as described. We had a great driver, a knowledgeable (though not English speaking) guide, and nice food and service at the palapa (it is NOT a beach club as promised) so it was a nice day but not what was promised.

Wonderful experience - the driver and guide both made the day memorable by knowing where to take us to see the most wildlife and pointed them out to us. The kids loved the ride and walk into the mangroves and seeing a couple of crocodiles! The flamingos were a highlight for all of us. Would highly recommend this adventure
Our guide Efraim was so knowledgeable and helpful the entire trip and even captured some great photos of us. We learned so many interesting facts about flamingos from him and the boat guide. Also saw the mangrove trees, a crocodile, blue crab and spoonbill birds. The beach afterward was absolutely beautiful (bring a towel) with way less seaweed than the east coast for this time of year and lunch there was delicious (don’t miss out on the fish fillet.) Overall a very relaxing day trip from Merida and highly recommend!
Had an unforgettable time in Celestún. Went in mid-feb and the flamingos were out in droves. The boat through the mangrove was also spectacular. The raccoons were also really cool and so cute (my wife was a lil’ more hesitant than me). The car was also well AC and the ride was smooth. Shout out to Efraín for his great energy and easily approachable demeanor. This may have been my favorite excursion the entire trip!
Both the bus to Celestún and the boat in the mangroves were good vehicles. Efrain did an excellent job as guide, and was knowledgeable in both languages. Both drivers and Efrain were very considerate in helping us, with our mobility issues, into and out of the vehicles. Celestun is a prime birding area, and in the short time we were there, we saw some good rarities, plus thousands of flamingoes. The food on the beach was wonderful. We all had the shrimp - kebabs, with garlic or pasta. It was nice beside the water, which proved too rough for swimming for us that day. A day and pesos well spent.
The flamingos and mangroves at the Celestún biosphere were amazing. Enjoyed seeing these beautiful sites.
A relaxing and fun tour, it will be a highlight of the trip to Merida. The flamingos were a highlight, but there are so many other species at the reserve!
We had a great time with Efraim, who was very patient and explained everything in both English and Spanish. The mangrove tour was great. We saw many flamingos and other types of birds, and took the boat through a mangrove tunnel. Afterward, the seafood st the beach was a nice way to unwind.
We had a great time. The meetup at Parque Hidalgo was easy, and straightforward. It wasn’t hard to spot our bus! I accidentally booked one ticket too few for my party. After a quick phone call, we paid in cash for an extra seat as there was room in our small bus, and all was well. As we rode to Celestún, our guide Jorge introduced himself in both English and Spanish, along with his driver Wilson. He told us about some geological and cultural history, biology (he is a biologist), and he was pleasant and funny. The bus was clean and modern, and our driver was safe and focused. We made it out to Celestún and stopped to use the restroom and grab a drink, then hopped on a boat and made our way into the preserve. The boat’s canopy made the sun mostly a non issue but definitely sun screen yourself. On the way to the Flamingoes we saw a ton of wildlife, mainly birds but also fish and a swimming crab. Once we got to flamingoes, they seemed to be everywhere and flying around us. In a couple of cases they were flying alongside the boat. We spent several minutes watching these birds and then moved on to Isla de Pájaros, a small mangrove island that is full of all kinds of birds. We were able to get close up without disturbing the birds by circling the mangroves in the boat. We stopped at a couple of known crocodile hangouts and spotted one juvenile sunning itself on a beach, and got right up close to it without disturbing it. We also went into visit an amazing freshwater spring that pumps crystal clear water up from underground and is teeming with fish. And there was a crocodile hanging out on the far side of the spring, lazily sunning by itself. For me the highlight was a short trip through the mangrove in a tunnel-like passage where we turned the motor off and sat in silence listening to the jungle, surrounded by bird noises and spotting all kinds of fish in the brackish water between the roots. Pufferfish, needlefish, various cichlids, mollies, and others I didn’t know. We also saw the birding highlight of the day, a Garza Tigre (tiger heron) about two feet from my face fishing for its lunch. We wrapped up the boat tour and drove to Pompanos in Celestún, and had a delicious and filling seafood lunch. The beach was fun for the kids, full of shells and soft sand. The water was warm and waves were just perfect for kids. Sunscreen is a must! We played for a couple hours into the afternoon and had a leisurely, enjoyable drive home while the kids napped. Altogether this was an unforgettable experience for the kids and for us and I would recommend Guías de Yucatan. I booked through TripAdvisor. We will be back!
We had a super day communing with nature and enjoying time on the beach. The minibus that transported us was clean and surprisingly spacious (we travelled with a lovely family from the US). Our guide Eff was kind and informative and we got close to numerous bird varieties (flamingos aplenty) crocs and fish. Definitely worth the visit.
Loved it! "F" was the best guide. Answered so many questions and answered things I never knew. Loved the flamingos and bird walk. Saw many crocodiles. Swam in ocean and made friends from England. Pefect!
The information is not clear regarding this excursion, we had four people in our group and while driving there the guide informed us we’d have to pay an extra 1000 paseos since the boat only left with a minimum of six people!!! Or we could wait for two more people to join us, this should have been make clear from the beginning. Also the trip says it EXCLUDES lunch, alcoholic beverages and soda which is unusual but ok we were prepared for this, The guide told us that lunch was included but no beverages, it was a bit confusing! Overall nice trip, friendly people our guide was great, spoke English very well and was super knowledgeable. The website for this excursion needs to be fine tuned and be more transparent. Thank you.
Our guide Alondra was excellent. She was informative and spoke English very well. I’d hire her for any tour any day. Our meal at the beach club was delicious and I enjoyed a chance to swim in the ocean. Warning! Don’t prepay your tip for the guide when you use the company-provided Clip payment platform. Guias de Yucatán management keeps a large portion for themselves. It’s better to tip your guide directly. Especially if they are as good as Alondra!
Our trip to Celestun was quite enjoyable. Our guide Alondra was excellent! She knew a lot of information to share with us and provided a comfortable drive to and from Merida as well. We enjoyed the boat ride, the variety of birds and of course, the pink flamingos. Note nature has its own timing. Despite reading we should expect to see hundreds of pink flamingos through Feb. we saw closer to a few dozen on this mid Jan trip. It was enough to still be a wonderful treat just sharing fyi. The time at the beach was fine, the good fish lunch actually better than we expected with clearly freshly caught fish.
Great trip to Celestun, its nice not having to plan anything, while also having independence to do what you wish throughout the day!
We went for the tour to Celestun. Our guide was Victor, and our driver was Gener. Excellent driver! It was a very smooth ride. They arrived exactly at the time they gave us. The boat tour was lovely. It was exciting and faster than we expected. The flamingoes were lovely! We also were able to interact with raccoons before the boat tour. The beach we went to later was nice. There are TONS of nice seashells, if you want to collect some. Definitely bring water shoes or sandals, because there are literally seashells all over. The lunch was a nice fish dish.
Great boat trip - saw lovely flamingos, Great Egrets, crocodiles, mangroves and other interesting birds. Lunch at the beach club was good and quiet location with beach and pool. Amazing shells! David was an interesting and informative guide and driver. Comfortable, air conditioned car there and back.
Victor was an excellent guide--knowledgable, reliable, and a good driver. Our boat ride was great; we were able to see lots of wildlife. The beach restaurant was wonderful--delicious cocktails and seafood. Would definitely recommend this experience!
This was the second trip that we did with Guías de Yucatan because we had such an amazing experience with them on our first trip from Merida. We booked this trip because we wanted a more relaxing beach type day and wanted to see some nature. We were not disappointed! We ended up having a private tour just me and my husband (which was wonderful as it was on our honeymoon!) and the transport was very comfortable and air conditioned. Firstly we did a boat ride through the “Ria” and the mangroves where we saw so many flamingos and got so close to them, it was truly incredible. We also saw lots of other birds and just being out on the water was beautiful. We then went on to a beach club where we had a lovely fish meal included and got to swim in the pool and in the sea. The beach was so peaceful and not full of people. We had the most wonderful day and we were delighted to have Freddy as our tour guide again for the second time in a week as he is so great. He knows all the useful information and is a very nice man!
Excellent service! Ephraim of Guides of Yucatan was attentive, punctual, excellent driver! Thank you for such a beautiful experience!
Tour to Celestun wonderful, amazing scenery and very friendly guide, we had a great time with Efrain, I would repeat without a doubt.
Celestum beautiful place, protected place as nature reserve, cute flamingos and beach place , cute beautiful place view and places to eat and enjoy the day
Excellent experience, it is a paradise this tour, our guide Mr. Jorge Malpica, a very prepared biologist, gave us a wonderful and very interesting explanation of all the fauna , exceeded our expectations of the tour. 100% recommended!!
The walk was amazing, especially by our guide Jorge and driver Raul. His explanations were very interesting and complete about the whole area and ecosystems. I highly recommend them, everything perfect.
We loved our boat tour to see the pink flamingos. Our guide, Alandra, was great. Very dynamic and kind. We recommend this tour.
We went to rest, so we enjoyed Merida and Puerto Morelos, we did it to forget about the work and the rush of the city, the tranquility, security and the warm weather we loved
Very good service! Attention 100/10, Daniel was very kind to us, we had punctual shuttle service.
I took this tour with them about a month ago, the attention was very good from the first moment, very attentive at the time of the reservation, they were very punctual and complied with everything mentioned. I highly recommend it
