We had a great tour with Fernando. We visited Uxmal but also Kabah. Fernando was incredibly informative about both sites but also about the history of the Maya up to the present time. It was a small tour group so it didn’t feel rushed and we had private time in both sites. Fernando’s enthusiasm for Mayan history came through and we learnt so much. We left central Mérida at 7.15am and were home by 3pm.

The perfect tour. The guide was awesome and it wasn’t an all day exhausting tour. Uxmal was the way to go. I went to both Chichen Itza and Uxmal and Uxamal was the way to go.
This was a great way to visit Uxmal. I wasn’t looking for a full 10-hour excursion so this was just right. We got to Uxmal before there were any crowds or large groups so it felt almost like we had the place to ourselves. And it was nice to visit before it got too hot. Rosendo is a fantastic guide and I really appreciated his vast knowledge of the history of Yucatán and Uxmal. He did an excellent job of explaining Mayan history and symbolism. As a woman traveling solo, I felt very safe on this tour. Highly recommend!
Our tour guide Rosendo was very kind and he is a very good story teller. When he tells the stories about the Maya people, you may really feel that era. Also he was flexible with the changes. Since we were the only one booked the tour it was like private tour for us. Regarding Uxmal, i think it is way much better than Chichen Itza with the feeling and iguanas maybe :)
This was perfect for me - I really wanted to get to Mayan ruins while staying in Merida but I didn't necessarily want to hit tourist-trap bundles that turned the trip into a full day experience. This was all about the highlight: Uxmal. We got there early and had whole sections of the area to ourselves at times. I had a great tour guide (Alex) who was equally happy to proactively give information and answer any questions we had, but also was sure to set aside time for us to wander and take it in ourselves. The tour started early enough that it wasn't too terribly hot out in Uxmal, but then we still got back in time for a late lunch and had the afternoon and evening free in Merida. Even though it wasn't on the itinerary, Alex gave us the option to swing by the chocolate museum (included in many other bundles that you see for Uxmal) and we just saw the grounds and the gift shop quickly for a couple small tastes and souvenirs which was more than enough for the people in our group. It was convenient, comfortable, and informative. Highly recommend.
Rosenda was a brilliant guide, he explained the background to the symbols and architectural structures in English very clearly
The guide was very knowledgeable. As a Mayan-Mexican, he gave a unique perspective. It was also nice to have a focused half-day tour.
My tour guide Mr. Rosendo Pech is very professional. he gave me a lot of info not only related to Uxmal but to the general mexican culture. The free time is enough and reasonable.
Alex is a nice guide, he gave us a lot of info not only related to Uxmal but to the general mexican culture
Uxmal was incredible. Finding a tour operator who doesn't tack on stops to their brothers gift shop is unheard of so this was extra special. Just a ride to and from Uxmal with a VERY good tour guide. Spent the first half explaining the main area then we were on our own for an hour to explore. My only negative is the van seating is a bit tight for taller people. Timing worked out great - we arrived early and finished when the lines to get in were getting long.
Rosendo provided a historical and mythology context to Uxmal giving the architecture and design a different perspective. The tour was informative and promptly we were in Merida by 1pm. Uxmal is a unique atmosphere with many trees and a peaceful scenery.
Our guide was very knowledgeable and experienced. He gave us a lot of info about not just our tour, but Mexico in general. A lovely visit to some beautiful ruins. A lot of it is shady, which was a pleasant respite from the heat. We reached Uxmal early in the morning, which helped us avoid the sun in the worst part of the day. Lovely place to explore as the grounds are large.
Wonderful experience from beginning to end. Tour guide Rosendo was great ! Spoke English very well and was kind and informative with great energy! We learned so much and truly enjoyed as a family experience. At the pyramids there are clean restrooms and place to buy drink water ice cream and gift shops. No one is bothering you to buy stuff. Book this tour it was great! The tour van is new comfortable and great AC ! You can leave your stuff on the van as you tour family of 6 with age rage of 16 -72!
The ruins at Uxmal are extraordinary, and this was an easy way to see them and to learn about the history. Transport left from the center of Merida and pick up was easy. The entrance fee to the park is not included and about 150 MX needs to be paid in cash. I visited in May when it was hot so, I recommend that you bring a hat, lots of water, sunscreen and bug repellent.
Great experience! The guide was great ! I learned a lot during this trip. Pick up and drop of were also at a convenient place.
We are so used to tours that force you to go to a bad restaurant, a gift shop you have no interest in, etc, so when we found a tour that just took you to Uxmal, showed you around, and then returned you to Merida, we were really pleased. What we hadn’t really expected was the quality of the guide. Kumen picked us up from the hotel and drove us to Uxmal and on the way gave us a deep dive into Mayan history, engaging our questions with an academic level of understanding. We genuinely learned so much off him about the Mayan world, wider mesoamerican history and the Spanish conquest. His English was perfect too. Uxmal itself was also particularly impressive. The carvings are intricate and the main temple imposing. Like many people say, we much preferred it to chichen itza. It is much quieter with nobody harassing you to buy things, and feels truly secluded. This was probably the best experience we booked in Mexico so I recommend it very highly.
Our trip was fantastic. Freddie, our guide was very knowledgeable and patient with our group. As was Carlos, our driver. It was a very relaxed vibe tour of Uxmal. Freddie pointed out many interesting facts and made the information easy to understand for our senior group. We also thoroughly enjoyed Choco- story the cacao museum next to Uxmal. The rain ceremony was lovely. The spider monkeys were so fun to watch as the performed their acrobatics. I felt sorry for the jaguars though. They need much more space. They seemed stressed, pacing around their enclosure.all in all a great time.
This tour is perfect if you just want to see Uxmal and have most of your afternoon free. The guide picked us up at 7am and we returned around 12:30pm. He gave us a nice guided tour of Uxmal, helped us take pictures, and gave us more than enough free time to explore the site on our own.
A great experience! We ended up being to only two scheduled, so basically was a private tour. Rosendo, our guide was knowledgeable and very likable. He answered all the questions we asked. The time in Uxmal was overwhelming with the history and beauty. Rosendo was incredibly knowledgeable about it and the surrounding area. Planning on using them next t]visit to check out another site.
We did the early tour of Uxmal with Rosendo. We met Rosendo at 7am, picked up 2 more people and arrived at Uxmal around 8:30am, just after opening. This is the absolute best time to go to Uxmal! There is hardly anyone else there and the weather is not too hot. Rosendo spent an hour with us explaining Mayan language, heritage and culture along with identifying important aspects of the Uxmal site and relating some of the ancient stories - it's a lot to take in and Rosendo did a great job. We then spent an hour meandering through the site at our leisure. By the time we met Rosendo around 11:15, the place was full of large tourist groups and it was very hot. So do yourself a favour, set the alarm and go to Uxmal at 7am with Rosendo! You will be amazed. Thanks Rosendo for a fascinating morning at Uxmal.
A easy and great way to visit Uxmal and Kabah from Mérida. It’s a 1/2 day excursion so you’ll be able to get back in time for other activities and out of the hot afternoon sun. Our guide, Julian, was very knowledgeable, helpful and was eager to answer any question. It made for a very interesting day.
Professional and timely driver Jorge and very informative guide Freddie led our small group through Uxmal. Firstclass and clean vehicle enhanced the 90 minute drive through interesting scenery. Freddie was friendly and knowlegable about the lore of the region. Trip was in the early part of the day and returned to Merida about 130 p.m. local time. Uxmal was uncrowded and impressive to see.
I did a quick trip to Uxmal and it was fantastic! Our guide was amazing and really funny, which made the whole experience even better. He shared all the important information in a very engaging way and made sure we understood the difference between a palace and a temple haha , which made exploring the site much more meaningful. Highly recommend this tour!
Very well organized tour. Dan was an amazing tour guide and driver. We got there early in the morning before all the crowds. Dan went at a good pace and was very knowledgeable and engaging. This was the perfect tour for us as it allowed us to have the rest of the afternoon to do other activities back in Mérida. It was an excellent morning and I’m glad we got to take this tour with Dan.
The tickets at Uxmal will probably need to be paid in cash, as the credit card reader is spotty. Bring enough Mexican Peso for the ticket and the federal and local tax
Wonderful, beautiful tour. Guide Julian was super informative and very entertaining. Love the half-day tour!
We took a guided tour to Uxmal on March 1st and we enjoyed it very much. Our guide Julian was amazing! Very knowledgeable, friendly, fun, easy to communicate. Highly recommended!
It was a great trip and pleasant experience. We recommend.
Julian arrived 17 minutes late for pick up. He expressed plenty of knowledge about Uxmal. He made a derrogatory comment about tourists to Cancun while conversing with driver. Something to the effect "son unos pinché babosos que no traen dinero".
Our guide, Rosendo, was right on time to start our drive and tour of Uxmal. On the drive he prepared us for our tour with extensive knowledge of Maya and the Yucatán. At Uxmal, he shared numerous stories about Maya legends as he pointed out details in the ruins. We left feeling that we had a much greater appreciation and understanding of the riuins and the civilization. One of the best guides we have encountered. We highly recommend this tour.
Great half day activity. There were only 5 of us on this tour. Rosendo our guide was passionate representing his Mayan roots. So very interesting
If you have an interest in Mayan culture, without any extra stops at beaches or commercial establishments (chocolate museum, etc) for shopping, then this Uxmal tour is a must. Our guide, Kumen, was wonderful. What he shares with the best tour guides at historical sights is deep knowledge and extensive experience that make the history come alive. But most importantly, he has a passion for Mayan culture and history that makes this tour a highlight of any visit to Mexico. Highly recommend!
This was a great tour! Rosendo seamlessly switched from English to French to Spanish and kept us all enthralled with his knowledge of the Maya culture. David was a great driver. From pickup to drop off we had a wonderful time. Thank you!
Perfect half day experience. Uxmal is amazing and our guide Resendo was great at explaining the big picture and small details with much character and knowledge. He was fluent in at least four languages and had a good u warranting of a few more. Highly recommend!
This tour was the highlight of my stay in Merida. Rosendo the tour guide was knowledgeable and kind, as well as being a safe driver. I enjoyed learning about the ruins in detail before the big tour buses arrived. It was a great experience.
Do not miss seeing Uxmal! Sami was an incredible guide with a unique perspective on historical "facts" and absolutes, and he was a lot of fun. This beautiful site is quiet, serene, void of vendors, and in my opinion better than Chichen Itza (but you need to see that, too!) I also appreciated that there are no "extras" (chocolate factory, etc) so our small group was on the road early and back in Merida in time for lunch. Thank you Sami and Guias de Yucatan for a magical trip and my favorite (and unfortunately last) day in Yucatan!
It was exactly what we expected. We left at 7:15 and were at Uxmal at 8:30. The trip was very pleasant. The guide, Samuel, kept us occupied with info during a good part of the trip. He was excellent. Once we arrived there, no lines for the tickets, since the place was just opening. We spent one hour or so with the guide, Samuel, who, again, did an excellent job. He is very knowledgeable, and offered a lot of info. Then we could have 1 hour for ourselves to explore the place and take pictures. At 11 we were back in the van and by 12 something back to Merida, to enjoy the rest of the day. I must add that thew driver Marcus was also perfect, and provided us with a very smooth trip. Excellent trip.
Beautiful site with lots to see. Our guide had good English, was very knowledgeable and knew all the best spots for taking beautiful photos. We got plenty of time to walked around the various parts of the site to take it all in and for taking photos.
My trip was with a small group - 4 in total and a very knowledgeable guide. A really incredible experience. We left early and were back in Merida for lunch, just before the larger tour groups started to arrive. There is so much to see at Uxmal and it is incredibly beautiful. Lots of trees for shade. I'll definitely return on my next trip to Merida. Thank you Rosendo for your depth of knowledge!
I’m so happy I found this Tour of Uxmal! If you only want to see the pyramids and skip the extra stops to cenotes and chocolate factory, this is the one for you! Our guide, Rosendo, is actually of Mayan descent and proudly speaks of the culture and history of Uxmal. He was very engaging and shared so much knowledge of the architecture, astronomy and religious symbolisms of the Mayans you see all over the site. As an added bonus, he is an excellent photographer! Highly recommend!
Objective is a guided visit to Uxmal without other stops. Carlos was a fantastic guide. The trip complied with my expectations
Uxmal was mind blowing. I am in awe of Maya culture, their knowledge, wisdom, respect for nature, and skills of engineering, science and astronomy. Our guide Rosendo was brilliant and narrated many stories and legends to us that greatly enhanced the tour.
Uxmal was truly impressive. We traveled in a small group with our guide Julian, a very seasoned and experienced guide who gave excellent information, anecdotes and facto. It was a truly impresiive experience
We were looking for a tour of Uxmal without any « add-on » like Choco-Story or cenotes… the other criteria was also to leave early from Merida to avoid the heat and the crowds. This tour checked all the boxes, and turned out to be the best one we had during our trip in Mexico. Julian is very knowledgeable and fun, you can tell he is enjoying the visit and wants to make sure you learn something from the experience. He’s very professional and can address multiple questions about the Mayas or other sites. We were treated like VIPs. Would recommend 100%
The buildings were spectacular, the guide enthusiastic about all things Maya, and there were no lines or crowding. One of the best archeological trips I've been on anywhere.
I didn't go, as they cancelled and although it stipulates this can happen, I'd of preferred not to be told at 3pm the day before a trip that starts at 7am the next day (especially as I was about to travel to the airport). Be careful of your plans around this incase...if they have less than 3 people I was told afterwards they will cancel the trip. They did offer me an upgrade to the full Chichen Itza tour, but if you've made plans around this like me...it's no use. The tour might be great otherwise, this review is based on this area of concern and to warn others e.g. a solo or couple travelling.
David was a great guide! His descriptions, in Spanish and fluent English, were wonderful combinations of history, science, and culture.
Our guide who was also the driver was great. Very informative about the culture, history, and the local people. Enjoyed his tour, never felt rushed, saw everything at the ruins.
Tomorrow Uxmal Express tour was excellent. Having not alot of time and trying to beat the heat our tour was especially good. Our tour guide Freddy was excellent. Since our tour was early in the morning, Uxmal ruin site only and on a Monday, we beat the crowd too. Freddy was quite knowledgeable, friendly, his tour was in English, all that we asked for.
We had a wonderful half day guided tour to Uxmal with David. He was kind, courteous and extremely knowledgeable and engaging. Uxmal is absolutely fascinating. Our 11 year old son also enjoyed the tour and said it was the best tour he’s ever been on. Highly recommend and if you can, request David as your guide.
