We booked late in the night before, but Henry was kind and helpful. The tour was Great! Manuel our guide was very nice and is a professional crocodile spotter! We saw Many flamingoes, birds and crocodiles. As Henry suggested to us we’ve arrived early to the tour so we were almost the only boat in the Rio, which was quiet and more birds showing. We ended the tour at a quick swim in a beautiful beach.

We had a great time on this tour with Manuel. We booked pretty last minute and comms via WhatsApp to arrange the details worked very well. Nature was good to us that day. We saw flamingoes, herons, pelicans, cormorants, and the crocs were out in full force. It was just the two of us and the guide, which was great as we could move around the boat freely to take pictures. Worth paying a little more if you want more of a private tour. We communicated in Spanish to learn more abut the environment and the lives of the animals. It is worth mentioning that the guide had pictures and some basic English terms to explain the details (in case Spanish isn't an option). It was great to get a glimpse of Las Coloradas as we made a pitstop near the reservoir. The colour in December was less bright, but it wasn't our main aim to see the pink lakes. The tour was concluded with a quick swim.
Great morning for our family. I saw heaps of excellent birds (flamingoes, herons, egrets, pelican, frigatebirds, and a roseate spoonbill 💓). My non-birding-family also liked the boat ride, the up-close-an-personal croc encounters, and the mud bath and swim. We had good communication with the operators via WhatsApp before hand, an the meeting point always easy to find.
Miguel, our guide, was a pleasure and very knowledgeable of the different species in the reserve. He also accommodated us when we wanted to change plans during the trip.
I lived in Río Lagartos in 2018 as a Master’s student doing fieldwork, and coming back with my husband was incredibly special. The boat tour through the mangroves brought back so many memories, and it was wonderful to share the place where I once worked. We saw flamingos, herons, and even a crocodile, just as magical as I remembered. Our guide was knowledgeable and passionate, making the experience both fun and meaningful. I highly recommend it!
We stayed one night at Villa de Pescadore and went out on a 8am boat tour. The hotel was very nice, the room had everything you need and it served a scrambled egg and fruit breakfast. Our captain, Paco (who was right in front of our hotel) was great. He spoke perfect English and was careful to spot and name all the local flora, fauna and wildlife. Loved seeing the flamingo's! I was a good time to visit as there weren't many tourists and a decent amount of flamingos. We also visited the pink waters of Los Coloradas. It was pink, but not like all the touched up photos. We ate in lunch and dinner in two different restaurants, there were several to chose from. All about the same menu, lots of shrimp! lol. There is absolutely nothing else to do there, so one night is plenty. There are NO souvenir shops, grocery stores or anything to buy other than food and drink! It looks like the town has not been touched for the last 20 years.
Amazing excursion. Roberto was extremely knowledgeable about the area as a local that has spent his life on the water. He would stop and explain a lot to us, he gave us extra time on the beach. Really wonderful, one of my favorite experiences here in Yucatán
The area is amazing, we saw a lot of different animals and plants. English of our guide was limited but understandable. We saw even the pink lakes and swam in the sea
Manuel Pat was a good guide, answering questions and making sure we were ready to move on each time. We felt safe. Phone support listed on the website communicated well (spoke good English) and were helpful. If you make reservations, ignore all the people waving you down before you reach the meeting place.
Had an amazing tour. We saw many species of birds and crocodiles! Would highly recommend. Manuel was the perfect Captain and tour guide.
It was a really nice tour. We've seen a good number of animals, including flamingos, crocodiles, hawks, prehistoric crab's, etc. Henry was a very pleasant guy, made a tour with a good pace, gave us enough time for everyone we wanted and also had a nice swim in the gulf of Mexico.
It’s a amazing moment with him. We have discovered a lots things magical like crocodile, flamingo, birds, las colorados and beautiful sunset to the end. Thank you so much for this experience !
Amazing tour to discover this stunning reserve! Henry is passionate about his job and he shares a lot during the tour. We were lucky enough to see crocodiles, flamingos and so many different bird species. We also enjoyed the mayan bath and the stop at Las Coloradas. Again thanks for this incredible moment! We will keep this memory for ever 🙂
Superb experience with San Diego (photo attached). He was very reasonable and charged us only 900 pesos for 4 people. We saw crocodiles and pelicans (he would take you on the island and let you take photos quite close to the pelicans). Would definitely recommend him for your boat tour.
We were lucky to be just the two of us on the boat so this was like a private tour for us. The guide was very polite and friendly. He was waiting for us on the docks, showed us where to park and even gave us the option to start the tour earlier as planned. There was absolutely no rush and he was always at our disposal. His English is good enough so communication was not a problem at all. He showed us many bird species and also explained a lot in the process, always slowing down the boat so we can hear him and have time to take our pictures. We places we've visited were very nice and only accessible by boat. We got to see up-close a crocodile, lots of pelicans and many other birds. We did see flamingos but from a distance, since you can't get close to them by boat (they stay in very shallow water), but with binoculars (provided) this was no problem. We've also seen one of the pink lakes. Overall it was a very nice and pleasant experience, lots of nature and birds. Worth it! PS: go early if possible; the more you go in the afternoon, the more crowded it gets, less birds and more heat.
Fantastic boat trip through the mangrove! Many birds are allowed to admire and also crocodiles! The pelicans traveled in our boat, super cool! Manuel is a sympathetic guide! Highly recommended for lovers of birds and nature in general.
Miguel introduced us to different species of birds, crocodiles and flamingos. We spent 3 hours on the mangrove, in a quiet and exotic landscape. Even without speaking the language, the guide did everything to make us understand, with great kindness and patience. An experience to do absolutely in this small fishing village.
Incredible experience in contact with a still uncontaminated and beautiful nature accompanied by an Italian guide really up to the occasion. Highly recommended .....
Wonderful nature reserve, over two hours of tour without getting bored, exploring a magical place. Tour organized perfectly according to our needs. Thanks to Henri and Giovanni!
Superb discovery of mangroves with Raul Batum, Hispanic guide, with very good knowledge of species. We also saw 2 of his friends!!! A crocodile and a pelican (for the shot, several!!) that he puts on the boat!!! I highly recommend!!
Superb boat ride in the reserve of Rio lagartos.crocodiles, blue heron, pelicans, pink and white ibis, frigates and so many others.. go directly book your tour on the pier. Super nice team 👍👍
Our excursion was amazing from start to finish with our Captain Emilio. We were able to approach and admire various birds (herons, eagles, egrets, pelicans, the latter even coming to land on the boat!), crocodiles, pink flamingos in their natural habitat. We were also able to see las coloradas! Emilio is keen to pass on his knowledge and passion for flora and fauna. An unforgettable moment in our journey and even our life. Thank you Emilio for your kindness and this excursion. We will not hesitate to come back 🙏🏼
Initially it feels really touristy to see a little aggressive (light) but once on the boat it becomes something else. We have seen many kinds of not wild birds (some land on the boat in search of food) pink flamingos and especially the famous croko ☺️ in their natural elements Top for teens
Our boat tour in Rio Lagartos was an incredible experience! Roberto, our guide, was extremely knowledgeable about the local flora and fauna. We saw crocodiles and a variety of birds, including beautiful flamingos. Roberto was very friendly and shared a lot about his culture and the town, making the experience even more special. Henry, who helped us organize the tour, was very efficient and responsive. He provided all the necessary information in advance, making it easy to find them in town. Everything was well-organized, and the tour exceeded our expectations. Thank you for an unforgettable experience! We highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Río Lagartos. Beautiful excursion! The guides are super, very kind, and the experience authentic. Observation of several animals and moment at the beach very relaxing.
Our captain Roberto was very knowledgeable and passionate about both the plants and animals that live in the lagoon. He explained many things to us in detail and precisely. He was available to stop at some points even on request. We were able to see many animal species. Highly recommended tour!
With about 1100 pesos we did the boat trip for three people of about two hours. In this time we have seen the salt pans, flamingos, crocodiles and many other things. Beware of the road to go as in certain stretches there are sinkholes.
The guide was very friendly but could only speak Spanish. He took a lot of time to show and everything and explained a lot to us, even if we did not always understand everything 100%. We have seen two cocodiles, flamingos and many birds. Also we were told a lot about the trees that grow there. We could park our car there on the road. All in all a successful morning😊
I'm not sure if this was the operator we did the tour with. What I do know is that we had a fantastic excursion on the water in the mangroves of Rio Lagartos. Because what a wonderful experience we have gained after the impressive boat tour with our guide Nacho, who proudly told us a lot about the beautiful flora and fauna in this area. Saw many different birds, including many beautiful flamingos. Had an explanation about the ins and outs of the mangrove. Also got to spot a large crocodile. We were allowed to take a (Mayan) mud bath, which we were able to swim off a little further. And on the way back an unforgettable sunset. Top experience!
Visite de 3h en anglais avec Manuel, un guide très gentil et à l'écoute qui connaît parfaitement l'écosystème de Rio Lagartos. Nous pouvons que vous recommander cette superbe expérience.
Excellent and the guide very knowledgeable, we saw many birds of all kinds very close and the guide answered all the questions we had without problem.
We would like to thank our captain and tour guide Manolo, very passionate about his region! He was an accomplished guide who introduced us to the ecosystem that develops along the coasts to protect tropical areas. We had an incredible excursion where we saw many species of birds and crocodiles, all accompanied by explanations to better discover this magnificent reserve! He also shows us Las Coloradas where we can see the orange-pink shrimp pools where the pink flamingos gather! Followed by a Mayan mud bath and a magnificent pristine beach with crystal clear waters to cleanse yourself on! All that, with a boat trip to really see the small town of Rio Lagartos, the tour was complete, I loved it from start to finish! I highly recommend it, it was more than perfect!! Incredible tour to discover this magnificent reserve! A big thank you for the generosity and good humor of our guide!!! This memory will remain engraved in our memory forever!
We had a magical time with my partner accompanied by our guide Raul. His knowledge of biodiversity and his explanations are excellent! We highly recommend.
A magnificent boat trip with our captain Roberto who shared his great knowledge of the fauna and flora of the lagoon, as a native fisherman of the region. An unforgettable encounter in preserved nature
Meraviglioso tour e ottima la guida che ci ha fatto vedere il coccodrillo Pancito !! E ovviamente tutto il parco con ottime spiegazioni!
We had a very nice trip with our guide Henry Pat. Thank you for that! We saw everything from crocodiles to flamingos and various bird species. It was rounded off with a detour to Las Coloradas and a swim in the Gulf of Mexico. In the end, an all-round successful trip and an absolute recommendation.
We took a trip under Henry's expert guidance. He guided us through the mangrove lagoon and identified the different bird species. At one point he fished a horseshoe crab out of the water to show us. Further on we have encountered a few crocodiles that came right next to the boat. We have seen a group of flamingos on the pink waters of los coloradas. At the end of the ride we went swimming on a beach outside the bay. lovely warm and clear water.
Beautiful discovery and beautiful meeting with our guide Cesar who introduced us to flora (mangroves) and fauna (many birds, crocodiles and flamingos), with a clay-based exfoliation as a bonus and a final swim on a paradisiacal beach, really top!
We booked a boat tour in the Rio Lagartos Nature Reserve and were amazed by the fauna, flora and especially by the passion of our guide. He took the time to explain everything to us, every bird we met, he made poses so we could take pictures! And to top it all off, he was full of humor and conveyed his good humor throughout the tour! Thanks to all this, we could see a crocodile up close 😂 Very good experience 🙏
