I had such a great tour with Shirley and Mike - I learned so much about Merida and its deep history. They explained everything in great detail, especially from the perspective of the Mayans, away from the colonial lens. I greatly appreciate educating us visitors about the hardships Yucatecans went through in the past, especially as someone who is also affected by the long history of Spanish colonialism. There are many tours to choose from but THIS is the one to book! You’ll even get notes so you can go back to all info from the tour. They are super thorough and will go the extra mile to make sure you’re comfortable and enjoy. You’re guaranteed to have a great and enriching time at Merida’s historic centre. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Shirley was a great tour guide. As the only one on the group, we were able to have amazing conversations and I learned so much about the city and history. I highly recommend this tour.
Mérida is such a beautiful historical city. My tour with Shirley was so much fun. Her knowledge and the was she shared made this a most memorable day. Thank you Shirley!
This experience was amazing! I learnt so much about Merida and it's history. Shirley was such a light! She even recommended that I visit Barranquilla since I love Colombia so much, she was super knowledgeable and super sweet. This was exactly what I wanted and it definitely enhanced my solo trip! Thank you for making my visit special!!
This walking tour was absolutely amazing! I highly recommend anyone who might want to learn more about Mèrida and the Yucatan Peninsula to take this tour!! I was surprised, yet very thankful that I ended up doing this tour alone with Shirley (Duck) . She was so knowledgeable, friendly, and spent time answering all of my questions. I loved the locations we explored, as well as her segment about the traditional dishes in the Yucatan. That way I knew what to eat while I was in the area. I suggest doing this tour when you first arrive to Mèrida so you have more of an insight during your trip. My only regret is that I couldn’t stay in that area for a longer period of time to participate in more of the activities that Mike and Duck have to offer!!
Great tour of key sites in the historical center of Merida. Shirley shared information about history and culture and we learned fun facts about each place we saw. I would highly recommend this tour if you want an overview of the city.
Do not hesitate to book if you are looking to learn about Merida. Shirley and Mike made the tour so special and we had smiles on our faces the entire time. They really went above and beyond to make us feel comfortable and have fun whilst learning all about the wonderful city of Merida, we can only say good things and a huge thank you to them both. The best tour we’ve ever ever done. Highly recommend!
Shirley and Mike were fantastic guides full of knowledge they were eager to share with our group. We walked around the historical center of town and visited a couple museums. We learned about local lore and history of the area and the people that make up this beautiful city. I highly recommend this tour to anyone looking to gain more insight of the history of central Merida.
This tour should be a FIRST experience in Merida that can influence the rest of your trip! What an AMAZING experience! Mike and Shirley were extremely knowledgeable of the history of Merida and the Yucatán peninsula, bringing the modern day tourist excursion to a whole new level of understanding and appreciation! They brought out the stories with humor and honesty, playing off each other and our questions. They are enjoyable, insightful, and their experience is full of fantastic surprises!

Take this tour!!!. I was fortunate to be able to spend 2+ hours with Shirley and Mike on this tour. They are two of the most delightful, lovely people I have ever met. Knowledgeable and kind.
Amazing way to explore with amazing people. I felt energised🤗. Tour at my own pacr, great knowledge, great conversations❣️
The city walk with Shirley was one of my favorite experiences in Merida. I am incredibly glad that I booked the tour at the start of my trip, as it ended up being a great introduction to the city, landmarks, and parks that I might not have discovered on my own. As a solo travel, I really value the knowledge that a local can provide to make the most use of my time. Shirley was incredibly kind, funny, and knowledgeable and made me feel very comfortable. It was the perfect balance of fun and learning. And, I got to meet Mike (of Mike & Duck) who was a great addition to the tour. It was fun learning about his Mayan heritage and his life growing up in Merida. Added bonus at the end of the tour was the bag of local candies (yum!) and the shared photos (shout out to Mike for his photography skills!). This is the perfect way to kick off a visit to Merida.
This tour was fantastic! The tour started out with some breakfast in an air conditioned restaurant with fresh fruit granola, yogurt, and toast. Then Shirley guided us around Merida explaining all of the amazing buildings and interesting history. There was time for taking pictures and purchasing a few souvenirs. Shirley answered all of our questions and took time to help us feel comfortable. We got to tour beautiful cathedrals and other beautiful buildings around the town square! There’s so much rich history, and beautiful art. At the end of the tour she also gave us a gift bag with authentic Mexican candy! Aside from getting a wonderful tour we feel we also became great friends with Mike and Shirley! This was by far the best tour we’ve ever taken.
Fantastic overall walking tour by Eduardo. He is very knowledgeable with family roots within the region, and this tour covers the major highlights of this beautiful city. The weather was very hot and humid so be sure to wear something light but also covers your skin if you are susceptible to UV light.
My friends and I had an incredible city tour in Merida with Eduardo. His wealth of knowledge about the city's history and the Mayan culture truly enriched our experience. Eduardo's friendly demeanor made the tour enjoyable and educational. We learned so much and highly recommend his services for an insightful exploration of Merida. Gracias, Eduardo!
This tour was amazing, worth at least twice what we paid, and should be a priority for first time visitors to Merida. Eduardo is a very enjoyable person and is incredibly knowledgeable about the history of the city and it’s notable buildings. He provided all kinds of interesting information about the Mayan culture and its continued presence through the inquisition to today. He told fun stories and illuminating anecdotes about Merida and its residents and gave us fabulous recommendations for other activities. Additionally he generously offered his assistance with future questions and reservations for the duration of our stay. It thoroughly enhanced our trip! Many thanks!!
My Guide Mike is fantastic. He met me early in the morning. We had a delicious healthy breakfast and did walking tour. The tour was done extremely well with very interesting details, and with a profound knowledge of the area and the history. I really appreciate all of the special touches that Mike put into our short time together. He was a specially kind and sensitive to every need I highly recommend this tour Dr. G.
Eduardo gave us an amazing tour of the city. I really appreciated his knowledge of places were to go and the deep history of the city.
Our guide Eduardo was very knowledgeable about his city. He explained both the Mayan and Spanish history in a clear and easy to understand manner. He also spoke the Mayan language and could translate the many signs in Mayan. I really liked this tour of the city.
A very educational tour and our hosts were lovely! They handled our kids’ incessant questions beautifully:)
Walking tour of Merida was delightful, informative, so engaging. Mike is so informed on the history, culture, and streets of Merida - especially focused on answers to our questions and interests. We so appreciated the information he sent us the next day on things to do at night in Merida. What kind follow up. And his advice to visit the murals in the Palacio de Gobierno was much appreciated. It was one of the highlights of our visit. Go! And do the tour!
Paolo and his wife were wonderful guides. They were very knowledgeable and we learned a lot about Merida a d its history. They had fun treats and were willing to answer questions. Their English was very good.
We had a wonderful Merida City Tour with Eduardo of Mike & Duck Tours. Learned so much history about the city of Merida. Ask about the "QR App" that allows you to see a little video about some of prominent street corners in Merida. One you won't forget. Well worth it!...c/s/g
Eduardo was incredibly knowledgable. He, his wife and assistant were so kind. We learned more in the time we spent with them then we would’ve on our own for sure. They also had great recommendations at the end for the rest of our trip and we could ask any questions we wanted and if they didn’t know they’ll get back to us with the answer. You don’t want to miss this walking tour.
This was a wonderful tour! Learned a lot about the history of Mérida and its most important sites. Eduardo and Shirley were so kind and accommodating, and had lots of surprises for us along the way! Highly recommend.
This tour with Eduardo was the best. Relaxed. Personal. Fun. Informative. At each stop he had insights and history to impart. His personal knowledge of the Mayan cultural context was very valuable. Group was small - 5 adults. Started out at a nice modern hotel for coffee and breakfast if you’d like. Total time was a relaxed 3 hours.
This is such a great tour! I didn’t have a lot of time, and so I wanted a quick introduction to the city, and this was just perfect! I was able to see a number of the highlights, our tour guides were absolutely charming and responsive to the needs of the group, and there were lots of little special surprises along the way! I know there are a lot of competing tours, but honestly, I would highly recommend this one!
A very interesting walk focusing on well-chosen highlights of downtown Merida. Guides were a lovely couple and knowledgeable about what we saw, as well as being able to answer many other questions. I learned a lot and now appreciate Merida history/culture more.
Absolutely the best way to learn about Merida! Eduardo and his wife were wonderful tour guides and provided a great introduction to the city, its history, and all its best offerings. It was a fantastic way to start my trip, and I cannot recommend this tour enough.
Fabulous!! The best way to see Merida . A lovely walking tour a great induction to the city and its history . Eduardo is a great guide he is knowledgeable charming and helpful. Highly recommend don’t think twice book this tour we have done it two years in a row with different friends visiting .
Walking with Eduardo (Mike) and Shirley was an awesome way to get acquainted with Centro. They were both so friendly and helpful. Eduardo was very knowledgeable of the history of the area, its buildings and parks. He also had both knowledge and good stories about the Mayan culture. He was clearly passionate about his subject matter and very proud of his city and his Mayan heritage. We were so glad that we had chosen the Mike and Duck Walking Tour as our intro-"Duck"-tion to Merida!
Eduardo ("Mike" of Mike and Duck) and his wife Shirley provided us with a wonderful morning of history, fun stories, entertainment and knowledge of Merida. We met at Ontica Urban Design Hotel, where we were met by Mike and had a nice breakfast at the hotel. We then began our walking tour of the Centro area of Meridan, led by Mike and Shirley, who were both extremely knowledgeable of facts, history, and myths of Merida, Yucatan, and the Mayan culture. The tour was a great pace, stopping at parks and historic buildings to provide history and context to this beautiful city. The presentation was fun as well as informative. Eduardo and Shirley were so friendly and so fun - keeping a pace that allowed us to see a lot of the Centro area - pointed out buildings and areas that we could come back to for further explanation, shared a wonderful story about Eduardo's experience with Alux - the god who protects the cenotes. I highly recommend Eduardo and Shirley - and please ask Eduardo about his story of Alux!
Eduardo (Mike) and his wife, Shirley, led us in the most wonderful, informative walking tour of Merida! We began with a nice continental breakfast at the Ontico Hotel. We then visited several key spots in Merida, such as cathedrals, parks, historical buildings and a theater. At each stop, Eduardo helped us learn so many interesting facts about the history of this lovely city. His information was interspersed with wonderful stories. Eduardo is so knowledgeable about and proud of the Mayan culture. Make sure and ask him to tell you his Cenote story! 😜 Both Eduardo and Shirley were so very pleasant and accommodating, checking often if we needed to stop, get a drink or cool off. I highly recommend the Mike and Duck walking tour for anyone wanting to get a good feel for the city while enjoying such friendly guides!
What an incredible experience! Eduardo was such a great guide. He made the tour of Merida personalized to our wish. It was so interesting to be embarked into the Mayan stories through the architecture of the city. Eduardo took the time to answer our questions, share his passion and love for this beautiful town that is Merida. My husband and I loved every single part of it and we would recommend it with no doubts.
My husband and I enjoyed our walking tour by Eduardo with Mike & Duck Walking Tours. We did not mind all of the walking as we learned a lot about the history of Merida. Eduardo is very knowledgeable and friendly. We also enjoyed the light breakfast before we started the tour. Definitely recommend Mike & Duck tours when you visit Merida.
Eduardo was great, knowledgeable & informative. I enjoyed the experience and new found knowledge of the city.
Great tour, 100% recommend it. Eduardo was super knowledgeable, kind, and shared great stories about the city.
We spent a wonderful afternoon with our guide in Merida. He was very friendly and had a lot of knowledge about the city. We also took the time to go into the cathedral and the casa Montejo which I really loved. It was a very hot day and a fresh beverage and water bottle were included. We also received some typical Mexican snacks. To summarize: I would really recommend this experience to everyone visiting Merida!
Charming young man gave our group of 5 retired Canadian a private walking tour of Merida. He was very polite spoke wonderful english and was very patient and helpful. With a lovely breakfast included. Such a wonderful day .
If you want to learn some interesting facts about the history of Mérida that you probably won’t hear anywhere else, take this tour with Eduardo. He’s very passionate and knowledgeable about everything Mérida and of the Yucatán and Mayan culture.
Mike was very personable and helpful. He was organized and detailed Will recommendchim to others. Best
Our guide was wonderful. He was very knowledgeable and he gave us a very interesting tour of the city that we used as our foundation for the rest of our trip.
Well it is a great way to quickly see the highlights of this beautiful city and learn about it's history. I was the only person on this tour as wanted to change date last minute and other group was closed. So I pretty much have private tour :) It starts with breakfast and ends with a little surprise gift which is cute. The guide is super knowledgeable and I learned a lot. Recommended.
Whenever I arrive in a new city, I always like to take a walking tour to familiarize myself, get the layout and ask lots of questions. I picked the Mikes & Duck tour because it was private and reasonably priced, and could not have been happier! Mike was so sweet and I learnt so much, that I wouldn’t have on my own. It was just the perfect amount of walking, and I thoroughly enjoyed my time. I was really blown away at the end though when he gave me a box full of surprises!!! I won’t ruin it for anyone else, but if you are thinking about booking this tour, I would suggest you do ~ it’s definitely worth it!
Had a great time with Eduardo! Really nice and super knowledgeable. Highly recommended for first time visitors to Merida!
Eduardo is a great tour guide! Told a lot about the history of Merida and walked us to the most important sites. Even got us a little souvenir! The tour is in the morning, before the heat so it’s very manageable. Eduardo is very friendly and accommodating. Even helped us with lunch and dinner recommendations (and called to make reservations). A great way to start your trip in Merida. Highly recommend!
Really fun tour. Chill walk - definitely a lowkey way to start the day. Very kind and sweet. You will learn a bunch and the time flies by so quickly.
Eduardo was very knowledgeable of the city of Merida, and very well versed in both English and Spanish. He lead a very interesting and compelling tour and went above and beyond helping me find Obsidean, taking me to a local ice cream shop to eat while I’ll listened to the history of the city, and then leaving me with a bag of treats at the end. Eduardo made my trip and experience in Merida that much more special and I left knowing so much about Merida’s history and the history of the Mayan culture.
Edwardo was a excellent guide. Highly recommend this tour. He has a worth of information about Merida.
