Nestor and David both went out of their way all day long to give my wife and me the best experience possible.

Wonderful tour, went as expected. The guide was very knowledgeable and explained everything in detail, in English.
The communication about departure is not great, you really have to call them to confirm pick up point and time. I got picked up from the church at 9:20 instead of 9am at the hotel. Went to a first cenote with the driver and could only stay there 30min (I guess because we left late) after that, I've joined a bigger group that had a different package and could get drinks that I wasn't allowed to. We stopped atmaya village, which is a tourist trap with over priced item blessed by a shaman. Then, went to another cenote and buffet for 1:30hrs. We finished at the temple at the heat pick of the day. The visit itself was great, it was way too hot to focus on the guide but it's worth the visit because of it's history and well preserved structure. I would chose another tour for chichen itza and the cenote if possible. I would avoid buffet in general in Mexico for the hygiene and avoiding being sick
Geysi was so sweet and lovely, paired with the exceptional service it made our visit worth every penny! Thank you Geysi can’t wait to see you again
Amazing tour, 10/10 would recommend this. They also make pitstops at the mayan villages which was super interesting. Special shout out to Joiana serving the drinks!
Don't go on this tour unless you want to be stuck in an overcrowded van to sites that are overcrowded with too many tourists. The first cenote experience felt like an overused amusement site where tourists are herded from van to life vest stand to crowded cenote. The so called "mayan village" is even more of a joke, you are dropped off at a van parking lot, greeted with a quick Mayan blessing and then let loose into a trinket shop filled with over-priced items - hardly a Mayan village experience. At this point, we bailed on the remainder of the tour and were lucky to get a ride back into town. We will not be back. There are many other places to enjoy that are more authentic than this offering.
Just say, no! Start with waiting 20 minutes on a busy street for your van. The first stop was 40 minutes in an overcrowded cenote. By the time you get your life jacket and walk to the cenote, you have about 20 minutes to swim. Next stop was a so called “Mayan village”. It was a stop at a very overpriced store (don’t buy these products). At this point we bailed. The driver had already advised that Chichen Itza had long lines just to purchase entrance tickets. Forget it. A major disappointment. We’ll come back at a less hectic time and take a private tour.
Unorganised chaos. 3 cenotes (only took us to 1)/ mayan village / buffet / chichen itza Joined a bigger group at the mayan gift store. They only took us to 1 cenote which had the buffet basically a water park. Lifejackets and lockers are additional charge at 100mxn each. Buffet was horrible, worst tacos we had in mexico. Cenote was nice but only one hour. Mayan village is the tour operators gift store. Overpriced and unnecessary, basically built to milk tourists of their money selling souvenirs at 5x the price they will find at the next stop. Chichen itza was good because of the english speaking guide. This is why it doesnt get 1/5. Souvenir sellers throughout the site you can bargain with. After that they took us to Valladolid where the tour ended. The first cenote was supposedly closed so they gave us free drinks which we didnt really care for. They didnt take us to the final cenote that was listed. Worth only if you have a discount code and dont mind bad food. Go with low expectations.
Meeting point is at 9am at the church in Valladolid (or they can pick you up at your hotel, you just need to let them know). First stop is a cenote. $130 pesos for a lifejacket & for a locker (total). Lifejackets are mandatory. You can leave your stuff on the bus and just take your towel, phone, & $$ (in one of those plastic phone thingies - you shouldn't need a locker). Second stop is a Mayan experience with a cleansing and shopping. Then they'll link you up with a bigger tour bus (same company). Third stop is another cenote with buffet. Buffet was good & cenote is nice. You'll have about 2 hours there. Eat fast so you can do both, lol! The other people had the all drink package included, I didn't see that as an option for pick up in Valladolid, but with the amount of drinks they were getting - I think it's worth it. And finally Chichen Itza - it says it closes at 5, but they started kicking us out at 4:30. Do the tour with the explanation, then go see the various ruins - then the selfies / shopping. The locals will overpriced everything & as they are closing up shop (4:40 ish) they'll go lower on the prices - especially if you speak Spanish. Overall - in my opinion, it was totally worth it 😀
AMAZING EXPERIENCE!! Everyone who is involved is extremely friendly and helpful! A special thank you to Jesus, Nestor for helping with the guide and Joanna for making some incredible pina coladas the entire day! I would highly recommend to anyone who wants to do a tour with Mayab travels!! Thank you!!
It was way frustrating. Very poor information. I loved the sites but there was not a clear description of the itinerary, and the time for each activity. I didn’t know I would join a larger group that departed from a different city. I waited 1,5 hours in the meeting point as the description showed the meeting time at 7:30 in the morning, as I didn’t find anyone at the spot I tried to contact them through messages, there I saw the time set at 9:00, I sent a message for them to confirm the time and I never got an answer. The visit at the first spot that was a beautiful cenote, was in a rush, only 40 minutes, I didn’t even suspect that the first activity was a cenote, so between changing clothes before and after getting into the cenote, I could only swim less than 10 minutes, to later wait more than 1,5 hours at a handcraft center which I didn’t know we were going to visit and didn’t have any interest in. We reached Chichen Itza around midday, which I considered the worst time, not only because of the sun and heat but also the crowds. The thing included in the trip described “tour guide” which I assumed was a guide at the archeological site, but again, not guide, the guides were there just to give us the tickets and rush us to keep the times on track. When I booked the tour, there were no indication to choose between an option that includes beverages and an option that doesn’t, turn out the large group, about 40 people, had beverages included all day and the lend of an umbrella during Chichen Itza visit, I didn’t have the chance to upgrade, so I basically felt like a second class customer all the time.
Nice trip. Visited 2 cenotes, the first was the Cenote Samula. We were there around 9:30am and were the first visitors. Got the whole cenote for ourselves. The lunch in the afternoon was open buffet and very good. Around 2pm we visited Chichen Itza until 4pm. It was not crowdy and we got pictures without any bystanders. Would definitely recommend this tour!
-Itinerary was not the same as originally sent. -Only a very short time in the first cenote, which was the best one. -Spent almost an hour at some extremely overpriced shops. Why didn’t we stay at the cenote? -Communication was very poor. We were put on a bus with a much bigger tour group halfway through. This would have been fine if it had been communicated. -Tour guide at Chichen Itza droned on in the same place. We finally left the group so we could actually see the ruins. We got back to the bus at the appointed time, then waited 30 minutes to leave. -Communication was the biggest issue. My recommendation: See these things on your own. They were all well worth the trip, but not on a one-size-fits-all tour.
When I booked the tour I specifically asked how many would be in my group and was told 12-15 people. I was picked up by mini van from Valladolid in the morning to be taken to the first cenote. On the way there I was told I was the only one in the group so would have to join another group which ended up being 50 of us. As I arrived later (because I had been at the first cenote) I missed the majority of the Mayan ceremony which I felt was quite poor - after we spent most of the time waiting around in the sun and being told to go to the gift shop. I wasn’t sure why we waited so long. We then made our way to the second cenote where we had lunch beforehand which was ok - nothing special. After spending 1.5hrs there, we finally drove to Chichen Itza but in the heat of the day with so many people - we got there around 2:20pm as people were late getting back onto the bus. I had expected to go there first thing in the morning to “beat the crowds” as I was told when booking. Throughout the morning, I felt the tour guide spoke Spanish the majority of the day and was quite grumpy. I was never offered any drinks on the bus and felt the “tour” had special treatment. The guide spoke English to us at Chichen Itza (a different guide to the trip guide) but felt it was quite rushed - we didn’t get taken to all the ruins and then spent the next 1.5hrs exploring on our own. The communication was poor as I didn’t realise we’d be driving straight back to Valladolid as we were meant to go to a third cenote which didn’t happen. I would pay more to have a private tour next time knowing for certain I’d be in a smaller group.
Doesn’t exactly go as it says on the listing. First we had to contact the tour operator to confirm the start time, we messaged them 3 times and had to contact viator before we got a response. We were the only 2 people who booked and at first this was nice as we had a lovely driver and van, we were taken to the first cenote (cenote noolha) this was meant to be Xkeken, we weren’t too bothered by this. It did cost $195pesos which is higher than the listing notes. Then we were taken to the Mayan village, which was pretty much a tour of a gift shop. Here we were told we’d be joining a different bus for the rest of the tour. We had to wait 1.5hrs in the sun until this was confirmed. The next bus we were put on was a big tour bus that had come from and was returning to Cancun after chichen itza. We were first taken to another cenote (cenote xcajum) and it was here that we had the ‘Mayan’ buffet (very bad - it was minimal options for vegetarians and the food was very dry and bland). It was unclear how we were getting back to Valladolid (very poor communication). The people on the big tour bus had special treatment - they were given free water as needed but we weren’t allowed access to this because we weren’t on the same package. Chichen itza was left as the last stop and it meant we were there for the hottest part of the day. We were able to see chichen itza and return to Valladolid and were glad we got to see these things, but the tour itself was so disorganized and we wouldn’t do it this way again.
I booked a tour from Valladolid but this is not what I got. I was picked up in time from my hotel by a friendly person in an unmarked minivan. He did not speak English. The van had four people inside and if it had been full it would have been a nightmare. I’m short and my knees were pushed in tight behind the driver. After no explanation of what was happening the driver passed me his mobile with a written explanation that we would visit the first cenote. The cenote was great though best and locker hire was more expensive than is listed on this tours site. We then drove to a “Mayan village” which was just a tourist market where we had about an hour to shop. At some point the driver said we’d be switching to another tour. That was a very comfortable bus. But again no explanation of what was happening. Apart from the five that started in Valladolid everyone else had started in Cancun and had the option of drinks packages. Every from Cancun was offered water and drinks for the rest of the trip. So it was a disjointed tour, the first part wasn’t a tour at all, it was a taxi ride and then we were added to another tour where the explanations of most things were in Spanish with brief English translation. By the time we got to Chitchen Itza it was after 2.30. It was hot and crowded. Ticket collection was chaotic. I will say the English guide at the site we were assigned was fabulous but that was luck of the draw and not due to this tour group. I actually cancelled another tour similar to this after this experience as o didn’t want a repeat of this situation. If you’d been travelling from Cancun it was probably a great tour but my experience was very disjointed and not what I was expecting.
The tour was confusing. We weren't told much anything what was happening. We waited half an hour to change a bus and visited another cenote and not xkeken. The tour took 3 hours more than it was supposed to. The intenary was in a different order and we weren't informed about anything. Otherwise the tour was good.
Had a great day, showed up to the meeting point at the time in my message and met Luis who was punctual. In a small van we went from a cenote (Noolha) to chichen itza then to a final cenote that had a buffet (xcajum). Every thing was great, staff friendly, would book again through this agency.
I chose not to rent a car. This was a great way to see several, beautiful local sites in one day. They took great care of me. Highly recommend.
The structure is good (two canotes and a trip to Chitchen Itza. Poor communication on pick up time, had a two hour window until following up. Tour was advertised in English but a large portion of the tour was only in Spanish. The main hosts were also rude after I called them out for not explaining things in English. I would avoid.
Communication was bad from the beginning. The email said we had to be in hotel Catedral at 09:05 but we asked their WhatsApp and they said it was in the main church. We arrived earlier but the bus was not there, after we tried to call them several times, we finally got in touch and confirmed "there was traffic" and would be delayed. It was delayed 30 mins. Even though we booked the tour in Spanish we were put together with the English group. The guide/chaufer never introduced himself or the tour or anything! We were taken to the cenotes first and it was all in a rush, but then when we went to Aldea Maya we were made to wait around 20mins cuz the van was out of gas... When arriving to Chichén Itza we were finally arranged a Spanish tour guide but we soon realized this guy was taking another tour from the celites and had been sharing a lot of info we missed... It was the same tour company, why weren't we assigned to that group to beging with? Bad communication and arrangement from the operator. The Cenotes are beautiful,Chichén Itza is a must do, at the end we loved all the places. Just felt we were cheated somehow. I wouldn't recommend this tour company.
Nice trip and good driver + guide. The driver did lack english Communication. Great cenotes and ok food for the price. Not Much room for legs in the bus.
We were picked up in a van with 5 other travelers. After one trip to a cenote our group was dropped off at a souvenir shop and made to wait for almost 2 hrs doing nothing. Turns out, they sent our van away and made us join a giant bus tour (the reservation link for this tour said no more than 19 ppl - the bus tour was 45+ ppl). Actually when we were walking over to the bus, the tour guide even said we “may or may not have seats” on the bus, and made us wait until everyone else had a seat. So if there weren’t enough seats we probably would have waited for another bus tour arrive and hopefully take us? Fortunately or unfortunately there were enough seats on the big bus although we (a couple) had to sit separately. Then apparently everyone in the bus had some sort of drinks package so the tour guide skipped us few people from the van when passing out water and drinks. We were basically treated like second class citizens even though we paid $70+ per person for the tour. No apologies for making us wait or switching vehicles or merging a small group into a big group. Knowing what I know I would have not gone with this tour.
Everything was super easy & it was nice to have both the knowledgeable guides but also the free time to explore on your own. Bring cash for tips along the way! Small group which is another plus. Definitely recommend.
The views were amazing ! Our tour guides were awesome !! We would definitely recommend !! Love the whole experience!!!!
The bus driver was amazing and efficient while the guide explaining mayan history made it interesting. William was exceptional and made the trip so much fun. He kept the beer pouring and made sure everyone was attended. Highly recommend this service and will definitely use them again.
Lack of communication with our gu3 noide. One would say one thing and the other would say something different to us. This whole situation was frustrating and upsetting. Hardly had any time to fully enjoy Chichen Itza
I waited at the pick up point but no one arrived. After 15 minutes they messaged me to say there was a problem with the transportation but they were sending someone else. After 30 minutes they sent me another number for someone who would be my new tour guide, but they didn’t answer my calls or texts. After an hour I decided to take a collectivo.
As we were only two people booked for the tour, they initially wanted us to join a larger group in a bus. Due to some coordination problems, we ended up in a private tour with an excellent driver. So it turned out to be better than expected. Thank you!
I'm giving this tour 5 stars despite a difficult start. There was a transport issue that meant our original tour had to be cancelled but within 30 minutes the company found us a space in another group that was stopping in the same town and let us jump in. It was a fantastic tour and our (genuinely Mayan) tour guide was excellent. He provided detailed info on the sites and the history, and even gave us a lift for the last section of our way in his own car as the different tour bus went a slightly different route. The cenote and historic sites are incredible
+ departure on schedule, easy to find pick up point, beautiful Cenotes (few people), nice guide at Chichén Itza, skip the line ticket included - 1h stop at a gift-shop before visiting the ruins, we felt a little uncomfortable because we had the Impression, that buying something was expected
We had an amazing experience with this tour! Luis was our driver/guide. He was always on time and available to explain everything we wanted to know about the region, and made us always feel happy and comfortable. The tour is very well designed, allowing you to visit the amazing chichen itza in between cenotes, to fresh up at the warmest hours. Totally recommend!
Very friendly driver and guide, good schedule of activities. Cenotes are interesting and worth a visit. The only thing we didn't like was that before lunch they took us to a souvenir shop where we overpaid souvenirs. After that we went to Chichen Itza, where the same souvenirs were twice as cheap. Don't be fooled like us 😊
We had a great time! Will highly recommend our driver LUIS OSALDE - he was so professional and kind.
Tour bus never showed up! Found out by going into the app 30 mins after pick up time that the tour had been cancelled, with no notification from Viator or the tour company. If you really want to see Chichen Itza stay far away from this one…
Clear communication that the start of the trip would be at 9 a.m, but the driver came to the pick-up spot at 9.30. Overall poor communication from the company. The trip should’ve included an English speaking person, but our driver didn’t speak English at all. Great person though. Pretty odd that no water was included either. Chichen Itza guide was very good and the Cenotes visited were very nice. When looking at the price vs competition, still very much worth it.
Great experience, the tour guide instructor was very knowledgeable! Cenatos were also very interesting and beautiful .
When we where the first to visit a new underground cenote. Interesting guided tour at chichen itza Bad communication regarding pick-up time from Viator
The tour guide cancelled on us 20 minutes before we were supposed to be picked up. I’ve seen other reviews saying this happened to them too so be cautious when booking this. This happened on our last day in Valladolid so really disrupted us being able to get to Chitchen itza. I’ve also been chasing a refund since this and haven’t heard back.
A great day! Picked up from my hotel in Valladolid on time at 9.15am. Went to the first cenote for swimming, it was gorgeous! Buffet lunch there. Then off to Chichén Itzá, for a 1 hour tour and 1 hour of free time. After this, another cenote - gorgeous again! Back in Valladolid by 6pm. Fantastic, great value.
Awful service! They cancelled our trip 5min before pickup time and left us hanging on street at the meeting point. Definitely choose another tour!
Had a wonderful trip, our driver was very friendly. Offering drinks and water throughout the trip, slowing down to get good photos. The whole experience was nice, things went very smoothly and it was nice having a small group for the trip. I would absolutely recommend.
The overall experience was very good for the price. Really enjoyed the cenotes and the staff are super friendly
Amazing tour, great activities, incredible value for money, friendly staff. Highly recommend to anyone!
Highly recommended! Apart from only being informed of pick up time at 7am on morning of the tour, everything after that was very well organised, friendly and we had enough time at each stop. And it was amazing value for what we got!
Tour start time was a bit unclear but other than that everything was smooth going. Our driver was really nice and the tour included things that were not in the description!
We had a very friendly driver. We got lot more than descripted. Would definitely do this tour again.
The only inconvenient was that the start time of the tour wasn’t really clear but after the moment we got picked up by our guide and started the tour everything was amazing. Had so much fun!
Guides and locations were great! I recommend! Make sure you take water and a hat with you. It's hot and sunny.
They canceled the tour for me because Chichen was closed, which is not their fault, but they could have managed it better. To begin with, it does not state anywhere the time the tour starts; I wrote to them four days in advance asking, and they did not respond. They wrote to me at ten o'clock the night before the tour, which started at 9 in the morning, perfect for organizing myself. The next day, the van arrived twenty minutes late and told me that Chichen was closed and that if I wanted, I could only see the Mayan village and the cenotes for the same price. Obviously, I declined; they prefer to try to sell you an activity at an overpriced rate rather than being honest and notifying you beforehand, good values.
