Departure & Return
Departure Point
- We contacted you a day earlier by WhatsApp to send you recommendations about the tour and remind you of the departure time. You board the vehicle in the order as they arrived at the office, so it is recommended to arrive about 10 minutes before 07:00 am.
Itinerary
This tour starts at 07:00 a.m. It is estimated 45 minutes to leave Merida, then we stop at a self-service store so that they can buy water and snacks for the road, at 08:00 a.m. we are on our way to the first destination that is Chichen Itza, which is 2 hours away.
When arriving at the archaeological site, tickets are purchased for the entrance to the site (it is important to mention that this access ticket is not included and must be paid when arriving in cash with Mexican pesos or by card). 2 hours are dedicated to tour the archaeological site in the company of the guide. The most important monuments are visited in the following order: Snail Observatory, Ossuary, The Market, Group of a Thousand Columns, The Castle, Mayan Ball Game, Tzompantli, Venus Platform and Sacred Cenote.
Then we get in the van and go to the Ik Kil cenote that is 15 minutes walk, you enter directly with the bracelets provided by the guide, here you have lockers to store belongings, there are bathrooms and showers to change, the use of life jacket included is mandatory, it is important to wear swimsuit and water shoes (if you do not have water shoes you must enter without shoes to the cenote). A total of 1 hour and a half is available on site in 15 minutes to change, 1 hour to swim and 15 min to change again (it is important to bring a towel).
The next stop is 15 minutes away and is the restaurant at Hacienda Yay Beh D ́Cámara where you have 1 hour to eat in a delicious buffet with a variety of Mexican dishes. Food is included with a drink (fresh flavored water).
Finally, we go to Izamal which is 1 hour walk, we take a guided tour in the magical town when visiting the convent and the main square, known as the city of the three cultures because it combines the pre-Hispanic and colonial history of the state while reflecting contemporary life; when walking its streets you will notice a very curious detail, as all the houses are painted yellow with white. Here you have 20 minutes of explanation with the guide and 40 minutes of free time in the main park.
We finish the tour at the same meeting point where we pass you in the morning. Between 06:30 and 07:00 p.m. Return time to Merida is 1 hour from Izamal.

Great day with Mauricio and Roman! They took great care of us. Great information, no extra stops other than bathroom breaks. It’s a long day but a good experience and you see a lot!!
The trip was alright and you got what they advertised but it was not the best trip I have ever booked through Viator. Like most things this day and age, it was more expensive than it should have been. Still glad I got to see Chichen Itza and explore a little bit more of the Yucatán Peninsula but it was not the most culturally fulfilling trip I have ever been on.
Michelle was the most wonderful guide! Her knowledge extensive, her personality bubbly, her energy amazing! Her Englishperfect! Pablo was an excellent driver! Super value and day! I highly recommend this tour with Michelle as the guide!
I booked all my 4 tours with Colibri which I highly recommend when coming down to Merida. They have an excellent customer service since you begin booking your tours. The rep which was Alejandra to the drivers and the guided tourist they have with them. The prices are good because they give you good customer service always. Thank you once again for making my trip to Merida great and memorable!
i had a really nice experience with this tour!! it has great activities for the value i highly recommend it🫶🏻
Wear some water shoes …. The pebbles in the Zenota were very hard to walk on going downstairs was extra hard
Pedro was excellent I can’t say enough things about him ! Wow such a beautiful experience
Amazing guide and tour guide. Loved our full day excursion and experience. Will definitely recommend. A must when in Merida!
Nice safe trip. Safe driver. Knowledgeable bilingual host. Recommend it. Only wish the stop at Chitzan Itza was 15 or 20 minutes more.
This was a very full day, well balanced with history, leisure and sightseeing. Mich was a terrific guide, although as the English speakers in a mixed group with mostly Spanish speakers I don’t think we got quite as much information during the day. The Ik Kil cenote is reached by climbing down and up a very long flight of uneven and sometimes slippery steps. Plan ahead for that.
A superb and fascinating day. Very knowledgeable guide abd tasty vegetarian meal. Book direct and save the Viatir commission
It was a great day! Chechen Itza was beautiful, but there are way too many street vendors yelling trying to sell you stuff. The cenote was beautiful and when we got to Izamal they had a festival going with live music. Great day!
The tour was a lengthy one almost 12 hours. We spent actually around 2 hours at the main attraction at Chichen Itza. The admission fee for Chichen Itza is quite high @37$ per person compared to other similar Unesco heritage sites & 7 wonders of the world. The premises of the famous site were full of street vendors and crowded as usual. It was quite hot & humid with the sub blazing in mid September though some occasional shades among trees were available. The buffet dinner was good. However, not much to see at Izamal. Our tour guide, Mitch, was quite informative and helpful. The Mercedes van for the tour transport was very comfortable. However, would suggest to try and cut down the tour length by an hour or two by cutting down on the stoppage times at Izamal and other non-important places to spend about half an hour more at the Chichen Itza.
A really good group size, just a very long day. Mauricio was so knowledgeable and Diego kept us safe on the roads. Very nice performance with the lunch buffet too!
With heavy heart I have to say that unfortunately we did not enjoy this tour. We decided to book with Colibrì because of the high reviews and the fact it included both Chichén Itzá and Cenote Ik Kil, which we really wanted to visit. Travelling by ADO and not having a car meant that we had to rely on a tour. We didn’t imagine, however, that this would penalise us and lessen our experience of the archeological site. This wasn’t our first site tour in Mexico and, although it was supposed to be the most special, it has also been the poorest. Time was not managed, in my opinion, correctly and with less than 2 hours within the site we found ourselves running in extreme heat to exit the site (just the walk back to the entrance takes 20/30 minutes) to reach the meeting point. This happened not because we wasted time, but merely because we wanted to try and explore the entirety of the site. The guided tour only touched the sacred Cenote, Kukulcan temple and juego de la pelota court with no free time left (we had to walk away from the guide once realised we only had 30 minutes left). It is a pity because we will never get our time back and it was cut short… not allowing us to make the most of a very steep entrance ticket. To make matters worse, the stop in Izamal was way to long (even more so as we were caught in torrential rain and made to get off anyway), I wish that time would been allocated to more free time in Chichén Itzá. I think Izamal could just be a photo stop. I cannot say how this tour compares to others in the area but I can say that if I could do it all over again I would try to find a different solution. Unfortunately it was a true disappointment. A point in their favour is that everything advertised has in fact been offered day of.
Fun trip, very educational, great food! Our driver Roberto and tour guide Annel were very nice! Would do again
The food was terrible, and the guide did not know as much about the site as you’d expect. The guide did not stop whistling for the entire time we were in the van which drove everyone out of their minds. The whistling started at 7am and did not stop until we got back. I literally can’t describe how annoying it was. The organization was nice to get to various sites but we didn’t have much time at Chichen Itza either. It’s probably better to just rent a car and do it all on your own, especially if you want to see all of Chichen Itza.
The tour was perfect! Great professional guide Jorge! A lot to see in short time! But that’s just the way! Worth the day and an unforgettable experience with lots of information and history!
Great customer service, professional and knowledgeable guides, very fun tour!
We read all the reviews and booked on this trip. It was excellent! Communication beforehand, peace of mind for flexible cancellation, value for money and delivering what they promised - all excellent. We would recommend, long hot day, but you get to see one of the 7 wonders of the world, swim in an amazing Cenote and visit the charming Izamel. Thoroughly recommend.
It was a great experience, our driver and guide were great, the three places were impressive, we had a great time.
Check in was a bit chaotic with so many groups meeting at the office at the same time Bus was very comfortable and well air conditioned with great driver and informative guide My rating of this trip is based primarily on the archeological site entry and experience (which is the main reason we booked this tour) rather than this tour company itself The price of entry for foreigners to this site is quite expensive, which I don’t necessarily begrudge despite this seeming to be a theme in the yucatan region - what I found frustrating was that this entire archeological site is lined with people selling stuff; I have spent months researching and learning about the culture and significance of this region, and what I expected to be a special experience was completely diminished by being asked to by a fridge magnet every time we sought shade This is a protected site of major significance to the history of this region - I just ???? with how much they charge for you to be hawked at the whole time The cenote visit right after was a great order of the day to refresh ourselves followed by lunch I felt that the add on of Izamal was unnecessary and didn’t give any value to this tour
It was so exciting, the guider was kind, he explained something in English for us. It was great trip for me. Thanks
A long day but your was well organized. Your guide was very knowledgeable. Make sure you bring water shoes for the cenote.
This is a really amazing trip! You’ll start at Chitzen Itza which is just phenomenal. It is really hot. Really, really, really hot. You will need things like sunscreen and a hat. That said, don’t worry if you do not have one, there are so many vendors selling these things on site. This is followed up with a swim in the cenote at Ik Kil. Also an amazing experience. It’s also a nice follow up to the incredibly warm adventure at the ruins. And the village at the end was also a lot of fun. Our guides were great. The van we traveled in was reliable and comfortable. This was a really well done and well organized trip.
Our guide Inel gave us lots of information that helped us to appreciate Chichen Itza more than we would have on our own. We had plenty of free time to explore it on our own after her tour as well. The experience at the cenote was magical. The selection for lunch was limited but the food was good, especially the cochinita pibil. We honestly were too hot and tired to enjoy Izamal properly, but all in all it was a great day!
Awesome experience with my family. Pedro, our tour guide was very knowledgeable and provided exceptional service. Highly recommend this tour!!!
Mauricio and Cat were such great guides and every part of the tour was well thought out and interesting.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ This was an excellent tour from Mérida to Chichén Itzá, Izamal, Cenote Ik Kil, and the food experience. Everything was very well organized, and the whole day was enjoyable from start to finish. Our guide was great—friendly, knowledgeable, and made the experience even better with interesting information and a great attitude. Visiting Chichén Itzá was unforgettable, Izamal was beautiful, and swimming in Cenote Ik Kil was amazing. The food was also delicious and a wonderful part of the tour. Highly recommend this experience if you want to see some of the best highlights of Yucatán in one day!
Victor and Ramon are truly a wonderful team! Our trip was very thorough and Victor provided great knowledge and answered any questions we had during the whole trip! Ramon is a wonderful safe driver! Our family was very happy with our experience!
Annel was a great guide and I cannot thank Diego enough for all the driving! I would highly recommend this tour to Chichen Itza, a really nice cenote, and the picturesque town of Izamal.
Chichen Itza was closed due to issues going on. Instead our group went to Ek Balam. It was lovely, but hot. The heat made it hard to fully enjoy, but I guess Chichen Itza would have been the same. Can’t say I was disappointed to not go to Chichen Itza, but that was out of everyone’s control. I made the most of it. Anyway, Izmal was fine. Nothing too extravagant. The cenote was lovely and I think the amount of time spent there was perfect. Don’t be like me and forget your waterproof phone case. Be like me and being water shoes. Also bring an extra bag to hold your wet bathing suit. The lunch buffet was average, nothing fancy. Bring snacks just in case. My favorite thing about the tour was the Cenote (interestingly enough), being able to climb Ek Balam’s temples, and my group. They were lovely people and looked out for me as a solo travel. My tour guide was nice.
The tour was fine, but the van experience was was not great. The seats were so thight, I am only 5'7 and my knees were jamed in the seat in front of me. There was loud music on from the pick up at 7am (not just the driver's speakers in the front like I experienced in many other tours I've taken, but speakers right above our heads, making it hard to relax or have a conversation at a decent volume with the person next to me) The air conditionning was also lacking strenght (the screen marked 29°) and I found nyself sweating most of the way. The tour on the sites were well translated in english, but when it came to the instructions in the van as to what the next steps were, what to bring for the stop, it was mostly just spanish. Before the cenote we had zero info in english until we had to remind him not everyone understood.
We were taken to Ek Balam as Chichen Itza was closed due to an incident. Be prepared with lots of aqua and open clothing. Our English speaking guide had very limited language skills impacting our experience.
Great tour and Michelle was a great tour guide. Very lively and kind.
This was a great trip! Our guide Michelle and our driver Jorge were excellent. The attractions were incredible and the trip was just as described. Will be booking with them again in the future.
Our Chichén Itzá tour was a great experience! The guide Michelle was knowledgeable and friendly, making the history of the Mayan ruins both fun and interesting. Everything was well organised, from transportation to the cenote stop which for me was the highlight as I’ve never been to a cenote before! We had a brief stop in Izamal which was magical.
It was a great single day trip to the pyramids, cenote and Izamal! Small group and a very experienced guide
The tour guide , anile, was very friendly, knowledgable, pleasant . The driver Ramon was a very patient driver. I really enjoyed the trip and would definitely book with them again
It was absolutely incredible! Our driver, Roman and guide, Annel were the absolute best! It was a great variety of experiences. I highly recommend it!
Great tour. Definitely recommend it. The guide was very nice and knowledgeable. Driver was good too. The van was very comfortable. The time spent in each stop was enough to enjoy it all calmly. The lunch was very nice.
Highly recommend this tour! Our guide, Pedro, provided incredibly careful and insightful explanations that brought the history to life. Our driver, Rodrigo, was professional and ensured a very smooth trip. A major plus was the generous free time at each stop, allowing us to explore at our own pace without feeling rushed. Perfect balance of information and leisure!
The guide and driver are awesome ! The trip is super fun and full of information, the food was great! The place where we stop to eat was beautiful and super clean !! Every place we visit was amazing , we definitely recommend the tour
The tour was great. Chichen Itza is a must see, the buffet for lunch had some of the best cochinita pibil I've had in the Yucatán and Izamel is an awesome town. Mauricio our guide was great too. He was friendly and knowledgeable about all of the local history and culture.
Pedro was a great tour guide, lots of cool things to see and do! It was a long day but saw a lot! Cenote is an experience to have!
Well organized tour with knowledgeable guide, who provided information in Spanish and English albeit complicated. Chichen Iza tour was incredible but it would have been helpful to be advised to bring umbrella for the sun and carry more water than anticipated. Noted people being assisted by medical staff after collapsing. Overwhelming vendors line the route in & out, and can feel like a tourist trap. The cenote was a welcome and pleasant surprise, not to mention a cool respite after Chichen Iza. Enough time to truly enjoy floating in such spectacular surroundings. Disappointed to see the cenote staff visibly expressing their racist views about some tourists. Tour bus driver Luis was incredible.
12 hours may seem like a long time to be on a tour, but it flew by. Anel, our guide, was terrific. She was knowledgeable and informative. And when someone asked a question, she knew the answer. Chichén Itzá was fantastic. As a bonus, Anel took a small group of us to see El Observatorio. The cenote was a welcome and refreshing break. The tour was fantastic. And a shout out to Roberto, our driver. So helpful!
Mauricio was a great guide who told us a lot about Mayan history and culture. All was well organised and explained. My friends and I enjoyed the experience very much. And yes, Alex, our driver made sure we got on time to different places.
We really enjoyed the tour with Anel and Roberto. Anel was really knowledgeable and kept us all well informed on where to meet etc. The tour of Chichen Itza itself was good, and the archeological area is quite big so our free time went very quickly. The cenote was great, if a little busy, but that's to be expected. There wasn't any waiting around, everything was ran really efficiently. Lunch is a buffet and you can go up multiple times if you want, so good value. Izamal as the final stop was a nice way to finish, with another Mayan ruin that you can even climb.
