The experience was great and the guide was very knowledgeable
A lovely guided tour. We were taken very early in the morning to Chichen Itza, which was a fantastic idea as we were first in line for the queue to get in. We also finished our tour before the heat became unbearable. Our guide & driver were wonderful and knowledgeable throughout.
I’m so glad I chose this tour. It was perfect! We had such a wonderful time with this trip. Delio our guide was wonderful, he is very caring, funny and a very knowledgeable guide. He made sure that everyone we’re comfortable. It was a small group and we beat the crowd at Chichen Itza. We were the first ones to enter at 8am when they open and we’re done by 10:30 am, which was perfect because that’s when buses of tourist arrived. It can get really packed. We had to pay 700 MXN per adult for the tickets. If you pay cash Delio can get the tickets for you. After Chichen Itza got to experience swimming at a private Cenote and had a yummy tacos cooked by a local family. Then headed to the yellow town Izamal. This was amazing experience definitely recommend to book this tour.
We had not only one but two great tours with this company. Hernan and Deilo, our guides, were great. We learned a lot about the Chichen Itza, went to a private cenote, and had a wonderful lunch. Then we went to Izmal which was great. Hernan also helped us book a second trip with his company and we got to see Coba and three cenotes, on our way from Merida to Playa Del Carmen. Delio was our tour guide and driver. It was an amazing time. I would highly recommend this company!
had a great time. our driver was the best.
Fantastic tour from start to finish. Excellent guide and guide who was very knowledgeable about the Mayan culture. We were the first people in line or Chichen Itza which is fantastic as it gets very busy quickly with large bus tours. Extremely clean transportation. The Cenote and lunch were amazing. One of the best meals we had in Mexico.
Delia the tour guide was amazing - so knowledgeable and friendly - he kept it interesting all day long - it was fun to meet other people traveling and waking up early was totally the right call to be able to see chichen Itza with less tourists around. Thanks so much for an amazing day!
It was the epitome of professionalism from start to finish. Thanks Hernan. Very enjoyable and informative. Great. *****
Fantastic tour hosted by Mario and Hernan. Excellent attention to detail and I loved their passion in making it a memorable experience for our group. We had first access into Chichen Itza which was great for photos. The traditional Mayan family lunch was superb and some of the most authentic Mexican food you will taste. The private Cenote was beautiful and it our group had it all to ourselves. Overall a wonderful day and would highly recommend Eco Expeditions Mexico.
I’m so glad I went on this trip, our guide Hernan is very considerate, it’s a small group, we saw everything we wanted to see, we were the first ones in Chichén Itzá so we got to avoid the crowds, the cenote is private and very beautiful, the pink lagoon is very pink! Very full packed schedule but not really tiring
When you are in Yucatan, you have to take a trip to Chichen Itza and Cenotes. The pink lagoon will give you explanation on why the Flamingoes turn pink
Delio is an amazing tour guide. It was the best trip I ever taken. The price, van confortable and a lot of water included.
We’re very thankful for Delio leading our trip. We started very early (like all the other reviews) and we beat the crowds to Chichen Itza. We were leaving the site as the bouts of tourists were coming in but this also means that you won’t have an abundant time getting your pictures taken in each site (you can take pictures of it but the tour was so informative that you have to pay attention to it). Delio was very knowledgeable about the site and was engaging and fun. Just take note of the entrance fee and if you’re planning on bringing GoPros they charge you 50mxn. The cenote wasn’t Tekum (as stated here) but Oxman (for our batch anyway). It’s small but beautiful and the facilities are clean. There are no showers for after the swim but the water in the cenote is refreshing. Be prepared for the heat, pack your sunscreen and hats and towels. You can ask for ice in the restaurant (the food is sufficient, the service is fast, and it will sustain you for the rest of the trip) and bring it with you in the van (they have a cooler) for when you need to lower your body temperature — I include this tip bc I started to have rashes / allergic reactions to the heat and while the van is cool, the heat you will endure in your trip can make you almost feverish. The pink lagoons is good for the pictures, but if you don’t speak Spanish it will not be informative and there’s really not much to know. You can look up information for yourself, otherwise the guides there will just help you with your pictures and not much else. Take note that this has a separate entrance fee. You can’t bring umbrellas inside the park so be equipped with large hats and/or towels. The flamingos are within the area but it’s a 2-3 minute ride from the pink waters. You won’t get up close with them (unlike in Rio Lagartos ??) but Delio brought binoculars so you can see the details in them. Despite not seeing them up close, they’re really beautiful. I suggest you bring good cameras or phones with a good zoom feature otherwise it would only look like dots in the distance. They really are pink but without the binoculars you wouldn’t be able to tell. There are enough stops in between so make sure you take your breaks as needed. Delio was nice to drop us off close/in front of our stay. If you want a good experience, make sure you get him as your guide.
I couldn’t be happier with this tour! It ended up being just me, which was cool because we moved through the tour at a pace that was perfect for me. We were first at Chichén Itzá, so all of my pictures are free of people in the background. The cenote was so incredible and there were only a few other people there. At the beginning I didn’t think I’d care much for the cenote, but it ended up being one of my favorite parts of the tour. Bring a book or something for entertainment because the car rides are long! This tour is 10000% worth it and I recommend it to anyone. The tour guide is super knowledgeable too. I’m so glad I did this tour instead of one on a massive bus with too many people!
Edgar, our driver and tour guide, was terrific. The tour was very long. More like 12-13 hours than 10. The chicken Itza visit was excellent, and so were the cenotes. Edgar managed to get us in quickly, ahead of the long line, and was very knowledgeable of the history. Even debunking a lot of things we read on the internet. We then went to a cenote with very few people, not too far away. We went to a great restaurant; Edgar ordered ahead, so the wait wasn't long. The pink flamingos were at the coast. That's what took so long, getting there and 2.5 hours getting back to Merida. The internet pictures are doctored, and the water is not that pink; no swimming is allowed. It's super salt water. The flamingos are at a far distance as well, with no close-ups. I don't think it was worth it, but the ocean there made my day. But again, no swimming. But no one was on the beach; just breathtaking. After a long day, Edgar took us to our Airbnb doorstep!
Getting to Chichén Itzá early was great, the tour guide was very knowledgeable. The cenote experience was very cool and lunch was tasty.
We had an amazing day with our tour guide Delio. He was great, You can really tell that history of Chichen Itza and mayan culture is his passion. Tour starts early but it's totally worth it as You arrive at Chichen Itza before all the crazy crowds.
Alinari, our driver, and Delio, our guide, led us on a magical trip across the state of Yucatán. Leaving Merida at 6 am, we rode in their very comfortable van to Chichen Itza. Delio purchased our tickets and we were among the first to enter this impressive site. Delio was very knowledgeable and proud of the history of the Mayans. He shared his knowledge of the entire area in a very interesting way, and then allowed time for us to re-explore on our own. Next, Alinari drove us to a wonderful, totally enclosed Cenote in Tekom. Our group of 8 were some of only a few in the entire Cenote. The cool, refreshing water and beautiful setting was just lovely! Then, Delio took our lunch orders for a local restaurant, which had our food ready upon our arrival. The food (and drink!) were delicious, and our "familia", as Delio called us, so enjoyed talking and laughing together that we didn't even hear Delio tell us that it was time to "vamos!" Alinari then drove us to the Pink Pools in Las Colorados, an amazing natural phenomenon of beautiful pink water, then to see the gorgeous flamingos nearby. Then it was time for the 2-hour drive back to Merida. Alinari thoughtfully made a rest/snack/drink stop for us along the way! When we arrived back in Merida in early evening, we left our guides and familia knowing that we had had an experience that we will remember always.
Delia, our guide, and Alinari, our driver, led us on a full day excursion of Mayan history and Yucatán beauty. An early start got us to Chichen Itza before the big crowds. Delio obtained the tickets, so we didn't have to stand in line. Delio led us on a tour of the site, communicating a great knowledge of and passion for the Mayan culture. He also allowed plenty of time for us to explore on our own. Our next stop was a totally enclosed cenote, where we swam in the delightfully cool and beautiful water with very few other tourists. Delio arranged lunch to be waiting for us at a local restaurant. Sitting with the other 6 members of our group, we had a delightful time getting to know one another. After lunch, we visited the pink pools at Las Colorados. This is a very interesting area where water is made pink by the presence of brine shrimp. Then we visited a nearby natural flamingo habitat. Watching these beautiful birds in the water and the air was a great privilege. Our long yet rewarding day afforded us a variety of experiences with a very fun guide who, for a day, created a family out of strangers.
Chichen Itza was amazing and definitely worth the trip. We really appreciated our guides getting us there early, just as the park opened. There were no massive crowds blocking views and access. In addition, the souvenir merchants were still setting up, so we weren't mobbed by trinket vendors. But the very best part of the tour was our guide Alejandro. If my history teacher's lectures were half as interesting and entertaining as Alejandro's, history would of been my favorite subject. The only negative, and this isn't the fault of the guides, is the distance between the various sites. A good percentage of the tour is travel time. But that is what it is. If you want to see the sights, they aren't going to come to see you. :-) Our tour included multiple bathroom breaks and lunch at a great little restaurant. I would suggest packing some snacks like nuts or trail mix. The was plenty of ice cold bottled water in our tour van, but if you want something besides water, you will want to pack it as well. Lastly, wear comfortable shoes and light clothing. The average temperature in the Yucatan is around 90 degrees Fahrenheit with matching humidity! If you perspire easily, you may want a spare shirt.
The cenote was a magical experience and our guide, Deleo was wonderful. The pink lagoon was nice, but added a lot of time to the trip.
13 hours in total (starting at 6am) and half of it was for travel between places - there was no mention that it would be a 3 hour drive back. Nice that we were first in line at Chichen Itza (arrived 8am) - there for 2 hours. Really liked it. Pink salt pools overrated (although I did get some nice photos), there were only 3 pink flamingos far out in the water, we were looking into the sun so photos no good. A sullen tour guide there (not our guide) barked at us for stepping on the sand to even get one zoomed in photo. There were not dozens as the photos would suggest. The cenote experience was okay but marred by the fact that the change rooms were filthy. The transport van was old, rattled loudly and it was impossible to get comfortable. There are better tours.
This tour was as advertised, but most of it is spent in the car. The visit to the flamingos and pink lakes was a very long detour and not much of substance when you arrive. We got out a few times to take a few photos and that is it. Getting to Chichen Itza before the crowds was great, as well as having a tour guide with us. Overall, I would not choose this tour again. It was too long, and did not have enough beyond Chichen Itza to make it worth the money that we paid for it.
Our guide answered all of our questions and was very informative. There were enough breaks that the day did not drag on and the sites are definitely worth seeing! Lunch was good and in a covered outdoor restaurant. Definitely recommend if you’re new to the area! The guide’s English was quite valuable as this is definitely a predominantly Spanish speaking area and some of the areas are remote.
The major attraction (Chichen Itza) was great to see in real life. Because of our booking, we had easy access to the site because the tour departed early. The crowds following were huge and there were long lines at the gate and bathrooms. Our tour guide David (Alejandro) was fantastic and the driver was also excellent.
Fantastic trip to Chichen Itza' with an excellent guide! The cenote was a fun and appreciated stop. We did not love the visit to Las Coloradas as the pink water was relatively limited and we only saw a few flamingos for around 5 minutes. It was a very long de-tour!
Great experience. Very interesting learning about the salt process. Pink water is awesome. Flamingos are beautiful.
We have done Chichen Itza, cenote, Flamingos tour with Alejandro (our guide) and Alinari (our driver). This tour is a must to join one. We were only three in the group and Alejandro was very attentive to make sure our nor only our comfort but also to provide valuable information and patiently answer our questions.
Our tour guide Alejandro and driver Alennadi (sorry probably spelled wrong) but both were amazing! The tour was amazing overall and I definitely recommend. Felt very welcomed, both speak English and Spanish throughout the tour. Our guide Alejandro was very knowledgeable explaining the history of each stop, knew us all by first name basis which made the tour more personal. Yes it’s a long day of travel so be well rested the day before. Prepare for lots of fun, pack snacks, sunblock, swimsuit plus towel for the cenote, and enjoy a day of adventure!
Overall great day. We enjoyed all the activities. It’s a great idea to arrive at Chichen Itza early before the heat and the crowds - my friend and I were even the first in to the site because our tickets had been pre-purchased (as foreigners), allowing us to take a couple of great photos. The guide was very engaging and took a great route around the site, avoiding big crowds. It was also nice to get some free time to explore. Cenote was beautiful and cool to swim in. Pink lagoons and pink flamingoes were also beautiful - the latter the highlight of my friend’s day.
The tour was organized very well, got picked up at 6 am right on time and we got to the chichen itza before any crowds so I was able to take very nice pictures before the crowds flooded in. Then we went to a cenote which was very pretty and then had lunch and went to the pink lake. Pretty good tour to get multiple activities in on one day.
Everything was great. Alex is a great tour guido and Ali an excellent driver. The tour is worthwile.
Amazing experience! Alex and his team where very knowledgeable of the sights we visited. It was a long day but well worth it.
The Hacienda Cenote Oxmán The experience was great and the guide was knowledgeable and instructions were clear. I also liked the driver.
Knowledgeable staff that’s friendly. Great locations, conversation, and lunch! Full day that worth it.
Great experience! You cannot find a better guide! So knowledgeable & personable! We highly recommend!
Excellent tour, to chichen itzá, the ponk lagoon and the flamingos, proffessional guide, nice lunch, the trip is too long, but really nice
Chichen Itza tour 6am start drive 1.5hrs long. Arriving early is important to avoid the heat and the crowds. With a tour guide you don't have to queue and the overview is very useful for Chichen Itza. No food or drink apart from water is allowed in Chichen Itza. Don't forget cash the entrance fee of 571 pesos is not covered in your original ticket purchase. The guide on this tour Edgar who freelances so you may not get the same one is called . He was knowledgeable, patient & comfortable to speak to. He speaks Spanish and English, he gave some interesting information about the theories people try to play as truths for Mayan history. Cenote Samula Limited time in there and you can't visit X'eken. No jumps from platform and a lifejacket must be worn. Beautiful sites overall. Las Coloradas was beautiful got to see pink waters of the sea salts on the day. The flamingos were pretty close we got lucky but if you have binoculars and a good guide the views are amazing. Our guide had both plus he so very knowledgeable.
Entire trip schedule was perfect! 6am start may sound early, but it is totally worth it! You get to Chichen Itza as it opens so you can beat the crowd. With a knowledgeable guide Edgar, I enjoyed so much learning about every bits he had explained through out the trip. Ik Kil cenote was beautiful as well, you don’t have to swim if you are not comfortable with swimming. Las Coloradas was indeed pink and beautiful, but also pale green ocean water with flamingos were so picturesque. I cannot recommend enough. It was very well scheduled and amazing tour!
The tour of Chichen Itza was excellent - our guides got us to the ruins early so that we didn't have to wait in line. The tour guide was extremely knowledgeable and well-versed in the history and archeology of the site. The cenote was beautiful and cool, a great midday stop to cool off and relax. Las Coloradas was disappointing, mainly because it was a cloudy day that dulled the color. Fortunately there were dozens of flamingos to see, so that was pleasant. The car ride back was very long (three hours), so be warned there. Fortunately they provided tablets to watch videos on the way back, which was a nice touch. The van was clean and comfortable, and our driver was skilled at navigating the bumpy roads. Would absolutely recommend this tour for someone interested in combining these three sites in a single day.
Guide was not passionate at all was not explaining the surrounding and didn’t have credit to the visit. No historical fact no info nothing Visit went fast because he wanted to get back on time ! We ask to stop by an “acienda” on the way back but we were told it’s impossible. I do not recommend this tour via Viator ! If you can book a taxi for a day (1700$MXC) or go by yourself many guide are available at some places !
This trip had it all for me. All the things I wanted to do. Getting to Chichen Itza early was terrific-less people and less heat! Next stop was the cenotes. What a beautiful place and refreshing swim. Following our swim, we went to a local restaurant where the food was good. Our last stops included the pink lagoon and the pink flamingos. Beautiful! I wish I brought a better camera than my iPhone. Our guide, Alex had binoculars which brought the birds into such clarity. Remarkable! The day was long but did not feel that way. I would highly recommend this tour
Loved this experience. Alejandro was a great guide and very helpful, friendly, and knowledgeable. Got us to Chichen Itza before the crowds and got to see the pink lagoon with an actual pick color. A somewhat long day, but you get lots of great photos and memories. 110% worth it!!!
Our excellent guide got us to Chichen Itza before the crowds. We stopped at a lovely Cenote, had lunch, and visited the pink lagoon before watching the flamingos at the nature preserve. Our guide Hernand was excellent - friendly, knowledgeable, ans very accomodating to our requests. An excellent experience.
Such a lovely tour with a lovely tour guide! Was excellent, prompt and attentive to our needs. Travelled in a group of 3 and learnt a lot along the way!
Trip was great up to and including a delicious lunch. Be warned that the Pink Lagoon is two hours from Chichen Itza, and three hours from Merida. It is a long, long day - and the van they provided for us (a party of 10 or 11) was old, lacked suspension (you felt every bump), and very cramped, even smaller than airline seats ... absolutely no leg room at all, seat width for small skinny women or children. Guide was friendly and nice but was hard to understand due to a very thick accent in his English. Best thing about the trip was arriving at 8am at Chichen Itza before the crowds. Cenote was also charming and pleasant - swimming available and very refreshing. The restaurant where lunch was ordered for us was spectacularly good. Had the day stopped there, it would have merited 5 starts. Going on to the Pink lagoon added five hours of driving and was not worth the 30 min or so we spent there looking at a group of very distant pink flamingos. If you want pink flamingos, go to Celestun on another day trip.
This was an exhausting day. Fortunately, the good stuff happened before lunch. It was kinda downhill after that. The guide was excellent (although we could have used less of his awful music coming out of his cellphone), particularly at Chichen Itza when the information was quite illuminating and definitely helped us better understand the place. The cenote was exquisite. Lunch was heavily meat oriented. I don't know what I would have done if I were a vegetarian. We drove afterwards to see the flamingos and this so-called pink lagoon which in no way was even close to pink. This photo has been heavily photo-shopped. Don't expect to see anything pink, including the flamingos which need to be seen with binoculars. I understand that nature does not perform on call but this photo is very deceptive since no one who would take this tour because of the arrival time at this place would ever experience this. A long, exhausting day.. Don't know if I would recommend it...
Able to see so many things in just one day for a great price. I was the 1st person to enter Chichen Itza the day we went there! Always on time with no rushing, complete explanations in great English. Highly recommended!
Guide Alex was very kind and funny! I expected the tour to be tiresome because we had to drive so much but it was actually a good balance between activities and driving!
