This is a beautiful boutique hotel with only 10 rooms, which makes for a very peaceful and personalized experience. The staff was incredibly friendly, attentive, and always willing to help. The food was outstanding, and it’s easy to see why the restaurant has earned a Michelin star. The only downside for me was the location. It’s about a 20-minute walk to most attractions, and when it’s 95°F outside, walking isn’t very enjoyable. The front of the hotel is beautiful, but the surrounding neighborhood wasn’t what I expected. Many of the nearby houses looked abandoned or in need of significant repairs, so the area didn’t feel as inviting as the hotel itself. One other thing to be aware of is that, since the hotel is in a residential area, we could hear dogs barking in the back at times and a rooster crowing, especially early in the morning. It wasn’t a huge issue, but it’s something to keep in mind if you’re a light sleeper. Overall, I really enjoyed my stay thanks to the excellent service, beautiful property, and amazing food. If you don’t mind taking taxis instead of walking and don’t mind a little neighborhood noise, it’s a wonderful place to stay.
I booked somewhere on booking.com that was rated 4 stars turned out it was a 2 star hotel. I left and found Cigno Ermita and what a contrast. The experience staying here has been exceptional. the staff are above and beyond helpful. I cannot recommend this place enough. Its been the best place ive stayed in mexico and wish I could stay longer
A lovely adults-only hotel in Mérida with plenty going for it. We had a spacious suite on the top floor, the welcome was warm and genuinely friendly, and the breakfast was excellent with a good selection. The lunch and dinner menus also looked solid, though we didn't try them ourselves. The concierge service deserves a special mention — they organised our day trips to Uxmal and Chichén Itzá smoothly and professionally. A few honest caveats. The location is relatively far from the prettier part of Merída's centro, where the better restaurants and main sights are; it's about a 35-minute walk, so you'll rely on Uber, especially in the evenings as the surrounding neighbourhood isn't the most polished. We also had several nights of significant noise from a nearby bar/club hosting loud parties. The bar staff were noticeably slow and unfriendly, and gave the impression they were chasing tips for everything. Knowing what we know now, their sister hotel north of the city would probably have been the better pick, given how much closer it is to the nicer part of Mérida. Still a good stay overall — just worth going in with realistic expectations on location and noise. A point of feedback: with so few guests in the hotel, it shouldn't be too hard for the staff to remember you by your name instead of always asking "what room number" you are. It would matter a lot for that personal touch. Too bad there was no management on site to discuss all this.
We had the most wonderful, dreamy stay at Cigno in the Ermita neighborhood of Merida to celebrate my birthday. Cigno made it feel like such a very special occasion! We loved the area with all it's little galleries, the cantina around the corner, and appreciated returning from the bustle of downtown to this intimate oasis. Michelle and other staff were so helpful in planning our excursions to cenotes and uxmal. Highly recommend using Willberth, the driver that Cigno has a relationship with - he was kind, funny, and helpful with local suggestions. He took us to the best cenote of the trip! The service was excellent and breakfast every morning was incredible. I miss it so much and have already recommended both Merida and Hotel Cigno to everyone I know!
