Compelling stories full of history and entertainment. Expertly delivered to engage both young and old. Ragatha is an artist, a serious story teller with great attention to detail. This was a good value, high quality experience that I would highly recommend.

Absolutely fantastic experience! We absolutely loved the York Witch Walk. Our guide was brilliant – entertaining, engaging and full of fascinating, gripping stories that kept us hooked from start to finish. They made sure the whole group felt included and involved, (even Frodo) which made the experience even more enjoyable. Amazing value for money and worth every penny. If I could give more than 5 stars, I absolutely would! Highly recommend to anyone visiting York. A brilliant evening and an experience we won't forget! 🧙‍♀️✨

HIGHLY, HIGHLY recommend Ragnell's witch walk in York. Truly an amazing perspective on the classic 90 minute historic walk of a city. Ragnell was knowledgeable (being 3,000 old) and relayed information and tidbits that other tours didn't, so even if you have done something similar in the past you still get to learn new things about lovely York. We were stone cold sober and had the time of our lives but I suspect this walk would also be enjoyed should you have had an alcoholic beverage all the same! Magical night, thank you Ragnell! Xx

This was a great evening full of history & fun we took our two grandchildren although we live in York we have never been on a tour but wanted a new adventure with the grandchildren & this didn’t disappoint. I would highly recommend

My husband and I have just returned from what has been, without a doubt, the best walking tour we’ve ever taken. Ragnell Hagathorn doesn’t simply deliver a wonderfully informative tour. She somehow makes you feel as though you’ve been transported back in time, guided by someone who is kind, hilarious, incredibly knowledgeable and completely captivating. Ragnell expertly brings together her vast knowledge of York’s history, witchcraft, folklore and ghoulish tales, all against the wonderfully dramatic backdrop of historic York. What makes this tour so special is that it never feels like you’re simply being told a list of historical facts. Instead, you genuinely feel as though you are there, meeting the characters and experiencing the stories alongside them. It’s immersive, atmospheric and completely enchanting. Ragnell was also incredibly accommodating. Despite the rain, she still took us out and, knowing that I’m pregnant, thoughtfully adapted the walk for me so that I could enjoy it comfortably. That kindness and consideration really meant a lot to us. This is absolutely not your run-of-the-mill walking tour with regurgitated history. Ragnell has created something genuinely unique, and her passion for York and its stories shines through every minute of it. I cannot recommend the Witch Walk highly enough. It is an absolute must for anyone visiting York and, by far, our favourite activity from our week-long stay. Thank you, Ragnell, for being such a wonderful guide and for giving us such a memorable and magical evening. We’ll be talking about it for a very long time! 🧙‍♀️💚

What an absolutely fantastic experience. We went on the Ragnell Hagathorn Witch Walk tonight (8/10/26), and I honestly cannot recommend it highly enough. From start to finish, it was immersive, hilarious, atmospheric and brilliantly entertaining. The storytelling was exceptional, bringing to life fascinating tales and lesser-known pieces of York’s darker history that we’d never heard before. The costume, character and performance were all outstanding. There was a wonderfully theatrical sense of humour, delivered with brilliant wit, cheekiness and impeccable comic timing. But what really made this experience special was the balance of it all. One moment you’re laughing out loud, the next you’re drawn into something genuinely dark, eerie or thought provoking. There were even moments with a surprisingly philosophical edge, giving some of the stories a depth that went beyond your typical ghost walk. It was spooky, educational without ever feeling like a history lesson, and funny without losing the atmosphere or magic of the storytelling. If you love witches, history, ghosts, folklore, dark humour, or simply enjoy an immersive experience that transports you somewhere else for an evening, this is absolutely the walk for you. A wonderfully wicked experience, full of personality, passion and theatrical brilliance. Five stars just doesn’t feel like enough

Wow!!!! What a magical experience it was walking the haunted streets of York with Ragnell Hagathorn! Her costume and character is amazing and we have never experienced storytelling like this on any other tour! Ragnell made us laugh hysterically one minute, and jump out of our skins the next. Two of the tales were terrifying. But what we were not expecting was to shed a tear for the ghosts! The stories take you through a whole range of emotions: horror, romance, tragedy and lots of comedy. Ragnell was also a charming host and was even happy to pose for videos and photos down dark passages during and after the walk.

This tour was absolutely amazing! Our tour guide “Ragnell” was so amazing and interactive. Somehow spooky, funny, entertaining and informative all at the same time. If you are deciding between which walk to do pick this one!

I've been on about a dozen ghost and other nighttime tours in my life, and this was definitely one of my favorites. Ragnell is equally spooky, funny, and informative as she tells you magical stories ranging from ghosts and witches to infamous criminals. I highly recommend that you check this out!

Of 20 years of ghost walks etc, this was hands down, the most captivating, interesting, funny, educational and romantic walk I've ever experienced. What started as a bit of fun, became a truly wonderful evening of story telling. Ragnell Hagathawn is charismatic, wholesome, funny (Mrs Doubtfire vibes) and just brings the energy. Absolutely so highly recommend!

A truly one-of-a-kind experience and thoroughly entertaining. It was the highlight of my week and I can’t stop telling my friends about Ragnell. We had a great evening in Ragnell's company on 22/8/26. He started the tour with a warm welcome for everyone, and I think we knew immediately that we were in for a fun evening. We got history and facts but told in a great story-telling style which means you actually remember lots of it! The whole tour was unforgettable. Highly recommended. Thanks Ragnell!

It was a lovely experience and the guide had fun stories. Would definitely recommend to someone who wants a fun night tour through York. The tour was a small group which was nice.

Attended the free event in August, but would have happily paid as it was well worth the ticket price had it not been free. The witch was a great story teller that kept us entertained throughout the walk, visiting various areas in York. It lasted well over an hour long but it seemed to pass quicker than that. There must have been about 35 people on the day of my visit, but this was not a problem as I could still hear and see everything from the back of the crowd. Great atmosphere during the walk and the costume and props helped. You hear various stories in each area you are taken to so it keeps it interesting. If you're just visiting York or live in the area, it's worth a go one evening. Great price for a great walk.

We took our three granddaughters for an evening of fun in York and they certainly had it. Most enjoyable although the youngest was a little sceptical when she first saw our “witch”. but warmed to her by the end of the evening.

Great experience from the start. Ragnell was happy to get lots of photos and the beginning and the end of the tour. We were masterfully navigated us around York and its 'locals'. Best witch I've ever met and the costume was so amazing some of the locals thought she was a real witch and us her followers! The crowd was a really good size and there was good participation. We had lots of giggles! We would have happily left a tip but there was unusually no request and there were lots of people wanting photos so didn't loiter at the end. Brilliant wee trip -would highly recommend - thank you!

My family and I attended York witch walk on 8/8/26. We were greeted by Ragnell, who took the time to meet and greet everyone in the group. The whole tour was exceptional from start to finish. Ragnell is so captivating and her storytelling is not only humorous, sad but full of love and respect, a perfect mix of history and storytelling. She is the perfect host making everyone in the group feeling involved and taking the time afterwards for photos. Highly recommended, the best tour in York. Absolutely amazing!

This tour is a must for people interested in the history of witchcraft around York, and England. I learned a lot and Ragnell is a captivating, theatrical and inclusive guide who is also humourous and happy to take pictures with you.

We had an enchanting evening with Ragnell! She came so highly recommended I was surprised that it was only our group on the tour. But that meant we got a lovely private tour. Ragnell is a fantastic storyteller, and showed us many hidden gems and details of the city. Ragnell definitely attracts attention, and it was hilarious to watch her banter with tourists and other tour guides. Even with our tour unfortunately starting off with some rude teenagers, Ragnell handled it gracefully, even though it meant she had to restructure her tour. The lovely interactions with other tourists more than made up for it, as people couldn't help but be drawn to her. You won't regret booking her tour.

Ragnall Hagathorn met us at 7:30 on the dot and the storytelling began immediately. We were surprised to find that the three of us are the only people on the tour; we were expecting a larger group. This experience allowed for the tour to commence at a pace that suited us and was perfect for our friend with a disability. We were also able to ask questions freely, with Ragnall taking us on an accessible route the whole way. The audience interaction added to the experience, with the guide reading participant willingness and levels of enjoyment well in terms of audience participation. Ragnall was somewhat of a local celebrity with many tourists asking to take photos, along with many pleasant and friendly interactions with other locals. The blend of informative and educational fact sharing, along with whimsical tales pertaining to the supernatural, created a well-rounded and enjoyable experience. We loved the enthusiasm and personality of our guide! We recommend this tour to anyone looking for a more personal experience when familiarising themselves with York.

Wow Ragnell is an absolute marvel; my partner and I loved this ghost/witch/history walk, we couldn't believe how magical and entertaining it was, but also full of interesting and sometimes emotionally charged stories, which we haven't heard on any other York Experience. A very interesting tour of the centre of York with the theatrical guide pointing out little gems on the streets and telling the stories that go with them. Many different points of York's history were touched on but all of the stories shared themes that are still relevant today. Ragnell was exuberant, humourous and captivating by turns - an excellent storyteller for an excellent tour!
