Shelumbo made this tour so interesting and fun. We learned and saw things that we would never have noticed just walking around on our own. Highly recommend him and his gem of a tour in this beautiful city.

Brilliant daytime walking tour of York city. Chose this one because we wanted a fun and quirky alternative tour. Sherlumbo is just the best and will not disappoint as he leads you from clue to clue through winding streets and alleyways to detect the hidden secrets of York’s history. A really fun way to explore York and learn a bit about its past.

A very enjoyable and informative tour with Detective Trinket. Our delightful guide kept us all engaged with her facts about York's history. The walk was suitable for all ages. An added bonus of a couple of chocolates towards the end.

Fantastic insight into York with a great guide Septimus

If Sherlock Holmes and Columbo had a love child who became a tour guide in York, I’m pretty sure his name would be Sherlumbo — and he’d be our guide! We were led on an absolutely fascinating investigation into York’s past, uncovering history, mysteries, characters, and enough twists and turns to make us wonder if we were sightseeing or solving a very elaborate Victorian crime. Sherlumbo managed the perfect balance of entertaining and informative. We learned loads without ever feeling like we were sitting through a history lecture — and there was plenty of humor along the way. Even better, my husband, who has some mobility issues, was able to enjoy the entire tour comfortably and without any problems. That made the experience even more special for us. Highly recommend this tour to anyone who wants to explore York’s fascinating past with a guide who clearly knows his history, loves telling a good story, and may or may not be secretly carrying a magnifying glass in his pocket.…

We participated in the Historical Gems tour today with Sherlumbo as our guide We enjoyed the tour and found our guide knowledgeable and enthusiastic and entertaining. We were shown some interesting and obscure points of history and enjoyed some chocolates at the end of the tour.

We absolutely loved our tour! Detective Trinket was brilliant, fun, and so knowledgeable. We had a a smaller group, but everyone was enjoying themselves and we learned a lot. Highly recommend!

I booked onto this tour as a solo traveller on my first trip and it was absolutely incredible. We had a small group and our tour guide was funny, informative and friendly. There was a lot covered in an hour and it packed in a lot of detail of the city with chocolate at the end. Would highly recommend!

Sherlumbo is a fantastic guide. We loved his dramatic character and witty remarks. Really brought York history to life!!

We had the young man - Shercolumbo. He was great. And I mean really good. Interactive very informative and told you about things you just wouldn’t have noticed. Staying in character for an hour in the heat and that hat was incredible!!!

This tour was a reasonable walking tour and visited all the highlights, but the guide’s “character” was a little too much for me and my family. Also, don’t let the title “A Taste of Chocolate” mislead you into thinking the tour will have a focus on chocolate. It does not. The title is accurate - you simply get a sample of chocolate along the way.

Sherlumbo was a fantastic tour guide! He made our introduction to York interesting and so much fun. I will suggest this tour to my friends and family who’ll be visiting the UK next year!

Sartorious Patch was a great guide - gave us a lot of information in a fairly compact tour and kept the mood light and easy! Nice overview of the historical importance of many places in the city centre and the tour gave us a good idea of where we wanted to spend a little more time while exploring on our own.

An entertaining and informative hour long tour of York. Sherlumbo, our guide provided lovely insights of the history of York pointing out easily missed plaques and signs. Would definitely recommend if you are looking for a walking tour with a great overview. The chocolates went down a treat!

Our guide, Sherlumbo, was very knowledgeable and entertaining. He knew a lot of facts, some little known, about the history of York. You also get to sample chocolates. A pleasant way to spend an hour.

Our guide was dressed as Sherlock Holmes and kept mostly in character, having us act as detectives finding signs, plaques, etc. She was very funny too. Chocolates were good too!

Sherlumbo was an excellent tour guide. An entertaining hour or so around York. Would recommend.

Extremely good experience and the info that we found out was great. The length, crowd size and Shalombo made the admission fee correct for us. Even an 11 year old pre-teen loved it. Look out for the cats on the roofs. Shalombo made it very funny and kept our attention throughout the tour. He is a great storyteller and he knows a lot.

Shelumbo adds flair and personality to a fun tour! Most of the hidden gems are not something a typical traveler would notice even after countless visits. Highly recommend as we do enjoy York more from the expanded perspective!

This was a wonderful tour full of interesting facts and stories led by the fabulous Sherlumbo! Wonderful way to spend an hour or so and learn more about this amazing city.

Sherlombo was very wacky and entertaining. The tour was very enjoyable and interactive. The tour lasted about 90 minutes and we were certainly provided with some hidden gems.

Sher-lumbo gave us a very entertaining and informative tour. We saw lots of things and walked down "snickleways" we would not have found by ourselves. He made us laugh and got us involved with the "discovery" of interesting facts. A really good morning.

Went as a way for my other half to see they best bits of York and get a guided tour on the way and this did exactly what we were after! We were guided by Sherlumbo who was great fun but incredibly knowledgeable and gave us a great insight into the history of this amazing city. The tour was really well organised and takes you round all the landmarks whilst having you laughing all the way. Nice little addition with the stop off at York Chocolate Story for a treat too!

The tour was well organised, informative and fun. The guide was knowledgeable and engaged with all in the party irrespective of their age. He highlighted some really interesting historical points of interest and we enjoyed his enthusiasm whilst explaining them to us. The development of chocolate products in York was also well received and the tasting was very much appreciated.
