Superb evening educational funny would recommend to everyone great nightvery well looked after.
Great way to spend a couple of hours. Emma guided us through the history of the distillery and gin itself with fun and humour, answering questions as they came up. Nice gin and tonic to start with, followed by sampling 6 of their range of gins, and others if wanted to see how they differed. Paired with a range of Fevertree tonic A gin and tonic of your choice to finish. Great snacks to accompany the tastings. Good company made for a nice relaxed afternoon early evening,
We’ve been on quite a few gin tasting tours and this one was up there with the best of the. Emma the guide was knowledgeable and delivered the information with humour. The information given was just about right in terms of how much and the level. The complimentary gin and tonics at the beginning and end were excellent as were the tastings in between. It was also nice to have a mixture of quality mixers too. The venue is also comfortable.
Fantastic experience. Very interesting with knowledgeable staff. A great visit and well worth it. Will definitely be back.
If you like gin you will enjoy this, if you don’t like gin this may well change your mind. Host Emma was excellent and informative and options to taste covered everything you could want. Would recommend this as a great way to spend a couple of hours in York.
A thoroughly fun afternoon. Very knowledgeable and lively information on gin production and the different tastes. We enjoyed ourselves immensely.
Excellent experience, that we both enjoyed. The explainers Isobel and Emily were really excellent. Would fully recommend.
Intimate experience in a small group setting. Really well organised. Kind and generous host. Must do.
Susannah and Cammy were both delightful! Really loved this event. From start to finish they were engaging, entertaining and informative. Light humor involved too! The whole experience felt welcoming and enjoyable rather than lets rush people through this and out. Really appreciate how this was delivered and we will deffo be back to try the cocktail class! I’m sure all the hosts are great but we will deffo try get Susannah and Cammy again. Would also like to note when booking Emma was also amazing! Thanks again! Chris and Jess!
A great couple of hours in a small group tasting experience with an entertaining and engaging host
Came with my husband and our friends (another couple) to celebrate my husbands 50th. Lovely venue, cosy and attractive. Everything was set up ready for us and we were guided through the history of gin and gin making whilst stopping now and again to try a variety of gins. Fever tree tonics provided also. Very knowledgeable and friendly guide. Great experience and I would recommend.
Lovely experience. Very well presented and informative, with lots of historical facts. Emily was lovely. More gins to taste than expected, with quite generous helpings Minor thing, but, perhaps some salted peanuts instead of corn nuts as a snack, just a personal preference! As dont like pretzels etc.
A smashing and informative tasting tucked away in the city centre. We had great fun and were made to feel completely at home. Fantastic!
An enjoyable and generous tasting experience at York Gin Distillery. We were given a welcome G&T upon arrival and then taken through the history of Gin and the distilling process by our guide 'Emma' who was very engaging and knowledgeable throughout the experience. We sampled 6 different gins and then chose a final G&T to complete our experience. The experience package was very good value for money and lasted about 1hr 45 - 2hrs. My only very slight negatives were that I personally felt the last few tastings were a little rushed and initially trying to find the location of the distillery was far from easy due to lack of signage.
Really enjoyed our gin tasting experience. Tried six gins in total and it was really nice we were offered lemonade as me and my partner both don’t like tonic. I liked that all mixers was in glass bottles rather than draught. Really lovely venue and the host was great at explaining everything and the history was fascinating. The nibbles were a fantastic idea and helped us recover in between drinks!! Would highly recommend!
Excellent afternoon’s entertainment. Very generous in terms of the amount of gin tasted and also the tonics and mixers. We tried 7 different ones plus a lively London gin and tonic to start off. Both hosts were lovely, very engaging, knowledgeable and enthusiastic. Discounts applied if you bought bottles on the day
From a London Dry gin and tonic on arrival through to a rhubarb gin and ginger ale on departure via 6 different craft gins , the whole experience was a delight made informative and absorbing by our lovely host Tim. Loved it
Five star experience our host was wonderful full of knowledge of all things York as well as the Gin and it’s production.
Husband and I had a lovely couple of hours tasting many different Gin’s. The process and history was fascinating. Can’t recommend enough
What a fascinating couple of hours in a beautiful location. Tim was so engaging and knowledgeable and makes a wonderful G & T . Loved the story of how York Gin evolved and I’m especially impressed with their ethical values. So difficult to choose my favourite gin after tasting 6 of their most popular but I managed ! Highly recommended 🌟
Great experience with lovely staff and fantastic value for money, went with my partner and parents for a day out in York and it did not dissapoint.
What a wonderful experience on a lovely sunny afternoon in York. Our host Emily was knowledgeable and fun, the gins were amazing and our fellow guests were such good company. All contributing to a fantastic experience.
Top class experience, Emily who took the session was very knowledgeable.
Really good gin tasting experience. Guide was very knowledgeable. Really good variety of gins to try as well.
Excellent presentation. Very friendly and knowledgeable. Well worth a visit.
Very personalized experience. The small group experience isn't just a gin tasting, but a full lesson on the history of gin in Britain. The gins are lovely and they have a wide variety of types, as well as tonics to pair them with, if you wish. You choose whether to taste straight or to mix with the recommended tonic. You will leave learning a bit more about how gin is made, what type of gins you may like, tasting methods and how gin has played such a strong role in British history. After the tasting, you do get a discount on purchasing bottles as well as good discount on Gin and Tonics, which is better than you'll probably find at local bars!
We had a fantastic time with Susannah and Issy. Their energy and passion made the experience really engaging (in what was already going to be a fun evening with a lot of great tasting Gin). You got to try 6 of York Gin's flagship gins, plus received a G&T at the start and end which we thought was a great amount to receive for the price we paid. Good value for money for the 2 hour experience.
A great way to spend an afternoon in York with yr best friend. We had a midweek booking and it turned out there was just the 2 of us. We were appreciative that they kept our booking. Could easily have cancelled and we would’ve been very disappointed. There was a number of their Gins to taste & cocktails which were really good. Talk on the history of the Gin & York was interesting. The lady that undertook the experience was lovely – unfortunately I forget her name but she was a French lady. We would thoroughly recommend this experience well worth the money. Really enjoyed the taste of the gin too.
After being presented with a gin and tonic in on arrival, we then spent an enjoyable couple of hours learning about the history of gin, the gin distilling process and sampled six different gins. Each gin was matched with the appropriate Fevertree tonic, to complement the flavour of the gin. The session was then rounded off with another full gin and tonic of our choice. The hosts made the whole experience fun and entertaining. We left the tasting with two bottles of our favourite gins. As we stayed in the Middletons hotel, on site, received a 20% discount on the ticket prices. We would definitely recommend this gin tasting experience.
Interesting and humorous explanation of gin making and the history of gin. 2 full G&T's and 6 generous tasters with nibbles. Far exceeded expectations and would strongly recommend
We went for a gin flight tasting and found a little gem of a distillery with a warm welcome for both us and our dogs. The gin choices were explained to us and we could mix and match to choose our 3. Each was presented in a tasting glass with a card explaining the best tonic and garnish, which we selected from a range on the bar. Fab decor and a fantastic server who was polite and chatty about all things York gin. The gins were great and we then narrowed down our shortlist to purchase bottles from the shop in the town centre the following day. Would highly recommend a visit for any gin-lover visiting York!
Very relaxed, fun tasting session of gins. A. Ice balance of history and science around the flavours and York Gin. Highly recommend. Thanks Emma & York Gin
We thoroughly enjoyed the tasting session with Tim, he was very knowledgeable & great fun, we highly recommend
We had a great time with the flight tasting in York Distillery. The staff were friendly and knowledgable. All the gins we tasted were delicious, so much so we walked out having bought 6 bottles of gin between us!
Adeline gave a really interesting and enjoyable talk and we really enjoyed trying the York gin range. My step dad bought a bottle of their rum using the 10% discount from the trip. The bar is lovely and this was a great way to spend a chilly February evening. Bonus points to York gin for all their sustainability initiatives
An amazing tasting experience at York gin. It was great to learn about the history of York gin, what makes a London dry as well as taste 6 of their gins and enjoy 2 full sized G&Ts, selecting our favourite gin of the afternoon. A great afternoon from start to finish. I would highly recommend.
My husband surprised me for Christmas with the gin tasting experience. It was absolutely fantastic. Adeline was so knowledgeable and made it fun. The gins were all so nice it was so hard to decide on my favourite. I’d definitely recommend and will be gifting the experience to others too! Thank you for making it so fun, Adeline.
I took a group of thirty, who were staying for Christmas across the courtyard at Middletons hotel. Jenny was the host and from start to finish she delighted our guests with her knowledge and presentation. They tasted five gins with accompanying snacks. Many said that they previously did not care for gin, but following this experience they were converted. Many of our guests said that this tasting session was the highlight of their holiday on York. We will definitely be back and I cannot recommend this experience highly enough; well worth a visit
Great experience for circa 2 hours. Multiple Gins to try and lots great history in Gin and also information on the York Gins we were really Impressed.Amelia was excellent who hosted us so friendly , knowledgable so glad we did it.
We had a fantastic night here, myself and my family and another couple on a Christmassy Sunday afternoon. Amelia was superb, knowledge, friendly and a real pro. Guiding us through the tasting in a fun yet informative way. The gin was delicious, the samples hearty and all in all an experience myself and all the others enjoyed! Kudos to the wonderful team who made this a really special afternoon. Thank you Amelia and Sophia!
Really fun informative evening . We learnt a lot and had a great evening tasting 6 different gins. Thoroughly recommend
We really enjoyed our visit to the distillery. We were staying at Middletons hotel so it was right next door. Emma was incredibly knowledgeable about the gins we tried and the history of gin and shared lots of interesting and funny stories. My partner and I got to try 6 gins, got a cocktail on arrival and then got to chose our favourite G and T for our final drink. The distillery itself was very cosy and welcoming and it really was a lovely way to spend a couple of hours on a cold and wet November afternoon. Would recommend.
What a fantastic time! We didn't know what to expect (apart from tasting gin of course...). but it was amazing. Our hosts were just magnificent. Happy, friendly, funny and knowledgeable. The 2 hours flew by - no stuffiness at all - but great fun and great facts. I live in York and will be back. Please go!
We had a fantastic afternoon of gin tasting with Susannah and Jo. It was interesting and great fun. Highly recommended, great value for money.
We were given vouchers for the York Gin Experience as a gift and we were so incredibly impressed. Amelia and Jo led our Tasting Experience Session and were so tremendously welcoming and knowledgeable and so friendly. The actual setting was really atmospheric and very well laid out. The furniture, fixtures and fitting were beautiful and all very sustainable. The whole York Gin Tasting Experience really was wonderful and all the Gins are highly recommended - but our favourites were London Dry and Roman Fruit. The gin making process was entertainingly explained with stories behind the names given to them. A huge thanks must be given to Emma who was so enormously helpful when we had an issue with our booking (completely of our making) - she really went above and beyond! We thoroughly enjoyed it and would highly recommend it.
We did the gin tasting experience on Wednesday evening with Becky. Her knowledge of the history behind the gins & friendliness made the experience . Completely worth the money and we will be back!!
What an absolutely fantastic day and experience. My friend and I had booked a few days in York for a holiday, and as a lover of York Gin I thought it would be nice for us to attend a gin tasting. To begin with, when I went to book online, the dates we wanted were not available. However, after a quick message to them online, they said they would open up a date if we requested one. Turns out we were the only people there that day, so the fact they did this just for us was incredible. It also made it far more personal and intimate as an experience. We were led by Emma who is a founder of the company, and not only was she passionate and informative, but she was down to earth and so friendly too. You can tell that she and the team behind York Gin really care about the product, the community and the customers. I’m just sad I don’t live nearer to York!! A highly recommended, five star experience.
Gin tasting experience was excellent, very knowledgeable lady and good fun.Lovely setting and nothing was too much trouble. Definitely recommend.
Had such a great time at the York Gin Distillery! The gin tasting experience was really well put together—we got to try six delicious gins while learning all about the history of gin and how York Gin came to be. Tim, our host, was brilliant. Super knowledgeable, friendly, and made everyone feel welcome. You can tell he really enjoys what he does, which made the whole experience even better. If you're in York and love gin (or even just want to learn more about it), this is a must-do. Would definitely recommend!
