Great value for money. As some attractions require booking in advance (and, like the hilt, have limited availability) prepare your visit. Some 7 days in advance should be perfectly fine. Also, some attractions are not within Yorick City Limits so could require you to organise transport. We've done "The Hilt" (absolute go to 4 your viking experience), Cliffords Tower & Museum and the Minster (archeology), the "Cruise" (is somewhat overrated, best planned as a lunch break thing), Bird of Prey zoo (very nice, although 60 minutes drive from York), York Viking Museum (more history-entertainment) and the "you should definitely do" - Ragnell Hagathorn guided walk - by dusk. I think the 3 out of 6 days is probably a good one as it will give you some time to plan better.
This was such a great thing to have and we visited a few of the attractions saving quite a bit of money. We also took advantage of using the passes to get money of at some food places. When I first bought the 2 x 3 day passes they didn't appear in my email although the money was taken of and I was a bit worried but when I phoned the company the girl I spoke to was very reassuring and looked into it and called me back to confirm that there had been a delay in them being processed and the passes were okay and now showing in my email. I t was definitely a very handy thing to have. We would've like to have visited more of the attractions available but we were only there for 3 days. Definitely something we would use again and knowing our way around York would be able to probably go to more things
The York city pass is worth every single penny you pay for the amount of money you save is through the roof. Normally in York for an experience you'll be looking at 18-25 pound each. This is perfect for any couple who are thinking to come to York for the first time or a big family who want to take to kids away for 2-3 days. York has everything you can think of and the atmosphere from the experiences you go to is second to none! Yes, I had one problem with my York city pass but the experience of the advisor who helped me was amazing and I'm grateful for the help.
Absolutely amazing value for the 3 day pass. Plan your trip carefully and you can save a fortune! Loads to see: river cruise was short but enjoyable. Cliffords tower, Jorvik viking centre, York museum, and the dungeon were brilliant. Saw loads more and the guys on the buses (Mark and Josh the driver, red bus) were so helpful.
Good value for money, easy to use once I figured out where the numbers were in the app which we had to read out for each operator. Some had a QR code scanner but this was hidden inside the individual pages for the attractions so we only worked this out on day two. Overall very happy with our purchase and we did everything we wanted to do easily.
It was difficult to use the pass in some places. We were told we should have booked in advance even when the advice accompanying the pass said otherwise. When we did book in advance eg Jorvik it was still a problem. The boat trip was another problem because we hadn’t booked in advance . It seemed that some of the attractions were not sufficiently tied up with the pass . Also almost impossible to find Visit York shop as all the maps are wrong and have been apparently for 6 years. We went on a wild goose trip there! Despite everything we loved York and had a great if sometimes frustrating time.
Disappointing experience. Tricky to download the Pass and, despite being told we could just turn up with the Pass, this was not so. Most venues required pre booking and even when we turned up we had to jump through hoops to get in with the Pass. Would not recommend. Book and pay in advance it wasn’t worth the money.
Super convenient and remarkably good value I have done this twice now, and the york pass is the way to do it. Booking if needed woth venues can be done, it has neat little discounts for other things too. Just all round, easy to use!!
Before buying the pass, choose what you want to do and add up how much it would cost without a pass. You have to work quite hard and cram in a lot of places, from opening to closing times, to make it worthwhile!
I bought the 3-day ticket for April 2026 and feel I got my money's worth. There were a few attractions that I wasn't able to get to as I was using public transport but the attractions I went to were quite good. As it was the Easter weekend, I wasn't able to get into York Minster on the day I planned due to religious services but that was fine. I got some help from the tourist information office staff regarding the app and the ticket which helped. Overall, I would get the ticket again if I planned another trip to York as there is still plenty for me to see.
Great value for money because lots of the interesting things to see in York cost £10 and take less than an hour - it adds up pretty quickly!
The York pass was expensive and we had to work hard to include enough attractions to pay for it. If we had had access to a car and could have travel to sites outside of York, that would probably not have been a problem. But without a car, it was. Further, most attractions merely took down our numbers. Once we realised that was all they needed, I made sure I had the numbers to had, but previously we had to wait until most site's slow wifi kicked in. We recently travelled to a European city and used their Pass, which worked much better!
It´s a must to have The York Pass. We´ve been with my family to York and the Pass allowed us to visit a wide variety of tourist attractions. Easy to use it, we showed the Pass on our mobile phone and that´s it. If you want to discover this beautiful city, you must have it. We are very satisfied with our purchase.
We saved a little money with the York Pass, but had to cram a ton into one day to make it worthwhile. Overall ended up feeling rushed and not enjoying the area as much as we could just so we would get our money’s worth out of the pass. If the cost of the one day pass was for 2 days time I’d get this pass again. Just too expensive for what it is.
So i got these two 2 day Adult passes in the Xmas sale in 2025.. I think with the discount i paid around £170 in total. I had previously used the York Pass in 2019 and saved i think around £70-£80 from what i remember. This time i used the passes as part of a road trip so set off on day 1 of the pass from Whitby and went to the lovely Castle Howard and York Air Museum. I decided against going into York on day 1 as it was around 4-5pm when i left the Museum. I sadly didnt quite have time this time to go on the North York Moors steam train which i think is the most expensive attraction on the pass. Day 2 i got the park and ride after leaving my hotel at Sandburn Hall outside of York with the intention of doing a full day in York mainly using the pass (though i did find time to visit a couple of pubs too and have tea at another before leaving) I went 1st to York Minster in the morning spent a couple of hours in there. amazing place then planned it so i walked thru the City Centre minimising my walking times to fit in as many places as possible. I then went to the Jorvik Centre and the Van Gogh experience before then walking a short distance to Clifford Tower and the excellent York Castle Museum which are opposite each other. I finished off with a 5 minute walk and was lucky to just get the River Cruise before it left. an excellent way to finish the day relaxing on the boat with a drink in the sun. I probably had time to go to the York Army Museum which i saw on my walk back to the P&R bus near the Shambles but was a little tired and happy with how much i used my pass. I reckoned all these attractions would have cost just under £300 so still saved £110-£120 on the pass making it well worth it. As i said for people good at planning a day time wise and efficiently and who are reasonably mobile you can get alot out of the pass. I had to book the Jorvik and river cruise but had a great day 2 after a more sedate day 1 outside of York. No issues using the pass either :)
Got a 2 day pass managed to go to 18 attractions. All the people were really friendly and helpful. My partner and son really enjoyed the cocoa works learning about how chocolate is made.
Fantastic pass absolutely great value for money top attractions included within the pass cant wait to visit again
Staff at York visitor center has been very helpful. The pass was worth the price
This is really good value if you are doing a number of visits to various attractions also got a blue light discount purchasing at visitors center . Really good online experience using the digital pass
The Pass was excellent value for money as it was valid at so many attractions (we were family of four). So useful. I would certainly recommend it.
In July I brought some students from my English academy in Spain, along with their parents, to York for a five day cultural trip. We booked the 3-day York Pass and it was worth every penny. The excellent staff in the sales / customer service department not only helped with groop bookings for the 21 passengers, but also recommended bus routes and bus stops for our excursions further afield to Castle Howard and Pickering, where we caught the North Yorkshire Moors train. It was wonderful to be able to enjoy all the varied, high-quality, entertaining and educational attractions York has to offer without worrying about booking individual tickets, and it also gave us the freedom to follow our own interests. Excellent value for money, a superb experience, I would 100% recommend both the fantastic city of York and its surroundings, and the Visit York Pass!
Excellent value for money (three day pass) does make you try and fit as much as you can in the time allowed. Well worth it.
Excellent service at Visit York where I purchased my pass from. The pass made it really handy to use the on/off buses and to access the Jorvik centre, Minster and York Castle Museums easily. My pass lasted for three days. There are so many places where it can be used. Recommended.
We wanted to see as much as possible whilst in York and the pass worked out as the most economical way of doing so.
I had my doubts but so glad we had our passes. We had a 3 day pass and we did so much and all added up we saved over £300. We did tours on buses and boats that we normally wouldn't do. We fitted so much in and would highly recommend!
Definitely worth the money!! Got a three day pass and went to loads of attractions and saved alot of money.
Exceptional value for money. We had 3 day passes and worked out our own itinerary and walking routes to maximise use. We pre-booked the Jorvik Centre, The Hilt and Dungeons - rest we just turned up. We had a day in Whitby using the train ticket which alone would have been almost £50 each. Whilst there we visited the Abbey (English Heritage) and James Cook Museum. York Minister had a sign saying it was closed for viewing at 4pm but on speaking to staff they admitted us - saying it was because we had the pass. Being in York for 6 days we were able to have rest days (from the pass) and use it every other day, squeezing in other non-pass activities such as walking the City walls. Would recommend to anyone visiting York and would use again. Just check opening times and days to help plan.
The York Pass worked very well, and takes the shall we do this out of the way because it's included. customer service team were very helpful, overall very satisfied.
The york pass was both blessing and bane. Some places it let us jump the queues as we already effectively had tickets, others we'dve needed to book ahead and the experience with those was a little clunky. Also, york isnt great with the o2 network (disappears entirely in most of the attractions) and whilst york pass claims to have an app, its just a website and is thus bound to data - an offline apple or Google app with which to use the qr codes would be a big improvement - we ended up having to screenshot our qr codes on the hotel wifi. Otherwise it was good value and helped us plan our expenditure.
Great value. Saved a lot of money with this ticket. I also got a discount with my veterans card. only problem was not enough time to do all wanted to do, nearly all attractions close about 4pm. Come on York. You're missing a trick here. The city was buzzing with tourists but started emptying at 4pm. We stayed in a hotel on the edge of the city. Park and ride 5 mins drive away and 20 minutes bus ride into the centre. £4 return each.
We paid for a 3 day pass. Great value. We used it so many times. Probably saved over £100 by purchasing it. Also encouraged to visit lots of great places.
We spent three whole days in York. We walked our feet off but everything is close together so easy. The York pass was brilliant as almost everywhere takes it, including the sightseeing bus and the Minster. It is well worth investing in. York was one of my bucket list items and didn't disappoint.
I bought this for a young friend who was visiting York and wondering how she was going to afford all that was on offer. In the three days of using her pass she visited eleven attractions and had a brilliant time.
We had the York Pass for three days. Excellent value, compared to buying individual attraction entry tickets. Saved quite a lot of money with the Pass. Great to use with the popular attractions such as the minster. Used pass for two or three attractions per day. Chocolate Story. York Castle Museum. Bus tour. York Minster. York Dungeon. Ouse River Cruise. Yorvik. Walking tour. Yorkshire Museum. Never had enough time to use on others. Had a few problems opening the York Pass Web app. It wasn't a smooth process to buy tickets through the app. One of two entry were convoluted and difficult than they should have been. Some work needs done on this. Or convert it into a full iphone app, with everything in one place. However, apart from one or two operating glitches, the York Pass is an essential purchase for longer stays in York.
The York Pass was great. We saw the York Minster, the York Castle Museum and the York Chocolate Factory. It was a terrific guide to all the York Attractions and was so easy to use. Any questions were quickly answered and very helpful.
The Yorkpass worked well, and was good value, although to get full value must plan ahead.
Brilliant, very helpful people at there office, fairly easy to use, great money saver. I had a three day pass £99 still didn't see everything on it, so much to do.
Great value for money, and as we had paid for a ticket for many attractions, we visited places we wouldn’t have otherwise gone to, and did enjoy them more than expected to do so
This pass saved us a small fortune. Worth looking into where you want to visit before buying. We went to Jorvik, York Dungeon, York Castle Museum, Fairfax House and York Minster (go on the guided tour, it’s amazing). We had a cruise on the river and joined the Hidden Gems walking tour (fine if you have kids with you). We used the 2 day pass. Be aware that in some places you can only visit once. We wanted to revisit the Minster on the second day but our pass didn’t allow that.
This was the perfect choice for us as a family. The York pass allowed us to visit numerous exhibitions and enjoy activities at a reduced cost. We spent one day sight seeing and with the York Pass got to see the following attractions: The chocolate works (super informative hustory of chocolate with tasters), the York dungeons, (impressive immersion experience with great actors) took a river cruise (very relaxing, i nodded off), look around Fairfax house (beautifulexaple of a georgian property, guides are very friendly), enjoy York Minster (must see), take in the Yorvik reconstruction world (realistic models but you move around within electric cars so afain quite relaxing) and finally go on a witches city tour (odd but funny and informative) The savings we made were significant and although we packed a lot in between 9.30 and 18.45 the York pass meant we felt comfortable doing a whistle stop in a couple of the exhibitions. All in all, very worthwhile.
Definitely worth the money, if like us you are planning on visiting a lot of attractions then get the York pass, it will save you money.
Excellent value for money ,the attractractions we visited where great ,wish we had another day there to fit more in ,the York pass is a great idea and value for money.
York was a very enjoyable and interesting experienced, all in a very small area which made everything so much more convenient for us. The Pass worked really well both financially and in terms of direction. It helped us get more from our visit than if we had drifted around the attractions. Excellent value.
Really good value for money and it gave me ideas for attractions to see which were brilliant!
Absolutely brilliant. This is the second time using the York pass and it takes the hassle out of buying tickets om the day. Well worth it
Very simple and easy to use. It covers many attractions that you may not necessarily be able to visit. I had a problem at the beginning of using it, the app wouldn’t work, but it was quickly resolved, as I was given an old fashioned way of using the pass - a printout. We were able to visit 4 attractions, Chocolate Story, Jorvik Centre, Van Gogh Immersive Experience, and York Minster. By doing so we were able to get our money back. Very good value
The York Pass was super easy and convenient to use. We were in York for 1.5 days and it saved time and money having this. We mainly went to attractions that did not need pre booking - except the viking exhibition, which is worth seeing.
The York Pass is a great deal! It includes all the main sights and attractions, and it’s much cheaper than buying individual tickets. Even though this was my second visit to York, it was absolutely worth getting the pass again. Highly recommended for anyone wanting to explore the city easily and save money at the same time!
We bought the 2-day York City Pass and it was brilliant value. Got us into all the main attractions quickly and without hassle, and it included things we hadn’t even thought about doing (the river cruise was a lovely surprise!). The pass more than paid for itself after just a few visits. It also makes planning your days so much easier as you don’t have to think about individual tickets. Just check if you need to pre-book certain places, but otherwise it’s very straightforward. Would definitely recommend if you’re planning to do a lot of sightseeing in York!
