You will take part in a self‑guided outdoor treasure hunt through the historic streets of York, following an interactive story themed around Roman history. Using your smartphone, you will solve riddles, puzzles, and clues that will lead you from one location to another around York city center, uncovering hidden details and learning stories about the city’s Roman past as you go. Working together as a team, you will use observation, logic, and teamwork to unlock each stage of the quest at your own pace, with the freedom to stop for breaks along the way. The experience both starts and finishes in St Sampson’s Square and typically lasts around 60–90 minutes, ending with a final challenge that rewards successful teams with a delicious prize. The activity is family‑friendly, dog‑friendly, and designed to be fun, flexible, and immersive for all ages.
Absolutely brilliant! We thought we knew York but clearly not. Saw places we'd not been to before and learnt something new. Really interesting and fun activity. Took us a couple of hours as we called in a few shops as we passed.
Roman around York Well done to Ryan and team for another brilliant quest that helps you to discover York’s incredible history. We did the ghost quest last year and loved it. Pleased to say this alternative Roman route is another corker. Fun, challenging and allowing you the freedom to pace the activity to your energy levels and the many opportunities to shop, dine or drink your way around the city. Highly recommend!

Thoroughly enjoyed pottering around York, solving all the clues. Fun storyline which took us around lots of central York over a couple of hours. I live locally and yet the quiz introduced me to details I've never noticed before. Thank you! Ryan does lots of social media clips showing hidden details in York, which is how I found out about the quests. I'd have loved to have some of the history and stories behind the quest clues included too as Ryan does a great job with these on social media.
This quest was so much fun. We loved the framing of the story (and especially the names of the Romans!) and despite both of us having lived in York for a long time, we saw and discovered parts of York we never knew were there! Can’t wait to do more of these quests when more are available.
Great day out. A little challenging, in a good way. You just wouldn't notice most of these things if you hadn’t taken part in the York Quest.
After seeing Ryan in York doing his interesting pieces for social media we followed him online and decided to do a Quest the next time we were in York. As a family who are often in York and do know a lot of it's history we found some clues easy but not them all. We also did see things we've never noticed before. All in all it was a good family afternoon out. We took almost 2 hours with only a brief stop. If you don't know York it may take longer. Suitable for all ages and accessibility is good for everyone .
A really great day chasing the Roman’s around York. We went to places we have never seen before. The questions where fun and clear to read and the hints where very helpful. Highly recommended these quests.

Couldn’t recommend the York Quest highly enough. I’ve been waiting for an opportunity to do the game for a while and have been looking forward to it and it definitely lived up to my expectations. We took part as a family group of 5 (2 parents and 3 adult children) on a hot Saturday afternoon in June and we really enjoyed the way that the hunt took us off the busy tourist streets. We already know York well and also enjoy history and it was brilliant to find new things out in the city. It was really easy to access the game, no tech glitches or anything annoying like that and excellent value for money.
Interesting walk in York . The quest makes you notice things you wouldn't otherwise. Hints available, and an email was promptly answered when I encountered a slight problem (which was mainly caused by my failing to read the instructions properly) Would thoroughly recommend.
Was so looking forward to doing event and was most definitely enjoyed participating…
So much fun. We did it at our own pace and must admit, had to use hints ( which were available) quite often. We got to see things that we would never had noticed without doing the quest. It was easy to use and understand. It took us around the City, on a route that was flat and easily accessible. We recommend anyone giving it a go. We intend to do the Ghost Quest, when we revisit York in October.

It was a very nice walk. At first we found it a bit difficult. You'll go places you'd never go before and you'll learn something.
