A great way to find out more about the more quirky spots of York , as the title suggests , it was terrible weather but still very enjoyable with plenty of opportunities to dive into a warm pub to dry off . Be prepared for walking on cobbled streets and narrow passageways , but that is all part of a medieval city .
I'm writing this review I guess from a local perspective, as I have visited York throughout my life many many times. The reason I went on the tour was to spend some time with my friends from Canada. I wasn't expecting anything too much as I thought I'd been there and done it as far York was concerned, both with the usual tourist attractions and pub scene. I got it wrong! I absolutely loved walking through the nooks and crannies within the city walls, and taking in some of the hidden historical gems and great traditional pubs I never even know existed. Great tour guide (Scott) Brilliant afternoon out! Highly recommend even if you live in the area.
This is not your typical York tour. It took us to many place we wouldn’t have found and the selection of pubs was fantastic. One of our friends was local and even he was taken to places he hadn’t been before! We also enjoyed the opportunities to get to know our guide Scott and the other members of the group. Thoroughly recommend.
What a brilliant afternoon spent with Scott and other guests. The tour took you to places you could easily just walk past. Really interesting facts about the city and some fantastic pubs to sample. Would highly recommend.
Tour was a great way to see York. Tons of history, culture, and unique pubs. Scott was witty and full of stories behind these old taverns and their famous patrons. Also learned about the Viking culture that influenced York architecture (stop by Valhalla York pub). Highly recommend!
A great afternoon spent with Scott and other cool people exploring fabulous York. There was a nice balance of time in the pubs, walking, and hearing stories about the city. This is the perfect way to get your bearings in York and have a little fun while your at it.

What a fun way to spend an afternoon. The walking tour gave us a feel for the city and took us down quirky lanes and small streets. Loved learning about Snickleways!! Once Scot shared about them we would freely take them all over! Fun way to get around and explore! The pubs were awesome! I thoroughly enjoyed the beers and enjoyed going to know four different pubs and what makes them special. Scot was a great guide. He made the day special by not only knowing York and its beer scene but sharing about other travels he has been on. I really appreciated that in this tour we had a chance to sit and get to know the other people on the tour. We all shared stories about our travels! I would highly recommend this tour!!
A great way to explore York and find the fun, off-the-beaten-path places that you will want to go back to. All through the tour Scott gave us an entertaining and informative picture of the "real" York. We all enjoyed being with him and he brought everyone into the coversation. It felt like doing an informative pub-crawl with a group of friends, even though we hadn't know each other until the tour.
We had an awesome time and learned a LOT about York. Scott, our tour guide, was incredible. He was very knowledgeable about York and shared cool and informative history and fun stories not only about the pubs we visited but landmarks and out-of-the-way interesting spots as we walked around The City. He gave us insights into the beers at each pub stop to help us decide which one to try. Scott helped our group of 10 to get to know one another which made the tour even more fun. I've been on many walking tours in various cities and rank Scott is at the top of my list of "Best Guide Ever".

An excellent tour of the city, with some out-the-way points of interest and places I would not have found on my own. The group was 9-10 people and we all got around smoothly, with Scott's guidance. The pubs are very interesting and have unique features, definitely living up to the 'Quirky' title. Scott is a wealth of knowledge for York and beyond. Whether you only have a day or a week, his recommendations along the way will fill any gaps in your itinerary. His tour balances history with modern quirks, and each pub featured recommendations. The pubs are well positioned in the heart of the city, and the walk was especially great for orientation. Each time something of interest along the way was commented on, Scott knew exactly what information to share for solo exploration after the tour.

This was an ace experience, and I can’t recommend it highly enough. Our host scott was friendly, welcoming, and properly knowledgeable, especially when it came to the quirky little stories … in fact, he kept pointing out things we’d walked straight past earlier in the trip without giving them a second thought! The group got on great from the off and there was a lovely bit of camaraderie throughout. Everyone had a laugh, and I suppose the excellent beer helped that along. As first-time visitors, we had a brilliant afternoon, learned loads about the city, and came away feeling we'd experienced a much more authentic side of York. We visited several cracking pubs and discovered plenty of fascinating stories and hidden corners that never seem to make it into the usual "Top 10 Things to Do" lists. The guide’s love for York really shone through and we'd wholeheartedly recommend this tour to anyone fancying something a bit different from the usual tourist trail.
We cannot reccomend Scott's tour enough. We have been to York a couple of times before and this tour is by far the best. We got to visit several lovely pubs and learnt a lot about the history of the city. Scott is not only well versed in York history but in European travel as a whole and is an interesting person to have a pint (or several!) with.

This was our second time in York and this was our most memorable tour bar none. The experience blends hidden sights and quirky tidbits with unique pubs and delicious beer. It’s obvious that the guide loves York and it shows with the tour being good value for money as well.
This experience combined history with a good time and made our weekend in York very special indeed. Scott was knowledgeable and pointed out many things in the city we would have simply missed without him. The pubs were a diverse mix, giving us time to relax and rest our feet.
