Nick was so good and incredibly knowledgeable. I can’t recommend his tour highly enough ! Easy to listen to and so interesting
Absolutely great tour. Meeting was easy. He waited a bit fot for last minute booking not on his phone & sure enough another couple should up :) Guide was loud enough, & easy to understand. Also he answered all questions enthusiastically.
Nick is a very experienced guide and you can tell that from his ease of answering questions, his clear audible projection without amplification, and knowledge of York's sites and history. Excellent value for the tour with an overview of the central area. He is approachable for questions and has an easy meetup point at the Minster.
Our guide Nick, who is a History graduate, lives in York. He is immensely knowledgeable and is a good communicator. Excellent introduction to York and we greatly enjoyed the tour.
Highly recommend this tour. You walk around the same locations but you miss all the detail that really makes experience so much better.. you provide a snapshot. I’ve been gone from the very beginning up until now. Our guide was able to give us an inside so many areas and delivered it so well.
A nice small group made the experience even better.
Great walking tour of York, our guide was very informative and d happy to answer any questions
Good historical and architectural knowledge. Prompt friendly and inclusive. Appropriate walking pace. Lots of information about historical York.
Was surprised how good it was definitely recommend it.
Nick was amazing. He had a wealth of knowledge and he was clearly spoken. He made sure our group of 11 stayed together and advised us on all safety by warning ahead of drops snd uneven surfaces. I loved his humour. He asked for questions and made sure we all kept up. Nick is an asset to tour guides. Ive had woeful guides in the past - nick would be one of the best guides ive hadand i have to give him 10/10
A great experience, loads of interesting facts and places covered and lots of time periods in Yorks long history. Guide was very conscious of keeping us in the shade and safe off busy roads during what was a heatwave day which was much appreciated by all. Guide was a font of knowledge delivered in a clear voice which wasn't easy over the busy August hub bub of traffic and tourists and all delivered with some great humour also. He answered my question at the end concerning my specialised knowledge of stained glass. I would go on the same tour again on a less hot day and also to reinforce my knowledge of York !
We had a fantastic time on this history tour of York. Our guide was exceptionally knowledgeable and clearly passionate about the city's rich history. Every part of the tour was delivered with excellent communication, making even the more complex historical details easy to follow and engaging. The humour sprinkled throughout kept the group entertained and made the experience even more enjoyable. The balance of fascinating facts, storytelling, and light-hearted moments was spot on. We came away having learned a great deal while thoroughly enjoying ourselves. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting York who wants an informative, entertaining, and memorable experience.
Good walking tour with knowledgeable and entertaining guide. About the right duration (2 hours) and distance, with regular stops to talk about features of interest and history.
Excellent tour covered a huge range of the history of York and its many layers. Would highly recomend.
Really enjoyable experience, our guide was very knowledgeable and gave us plenty of extra tips on getting the best out of our time in York. Would definitely recommend this walking tour.
The guide through the wonders of old York was very clear and informative. I’d recommend his services to anyone.
We had a wonderful tour with Nick. Small group. Very informative. We loved walking to wall and the local history.
An excellent, knowledgeable and entertaining guide
Really enjoyed this walk, learnt so much. Appreciated that it wasn't gimmicky so if that's not your thing try this.
One of the best walking tours I have done. Our guide Nick was extremely knowledgeable and provided our group with a wonderful, comprehensive historical tour of York. Lots of great stories. Highly recommend.
Our tour guide was excellent. He was very informative and was able to answer all our questions. Our only complaint was your confirmation did not tell us where to meet for the start of the tour. We had to ask a police officer who fortunately knew where it started.
Our excellent guide Nick literally took us through history and the streets of York as we discovered how York evolved from a Roman city where Emperor Constantine was crowned, through Anglo Saxon times and Vikings, through the Shambles of the Medieval period. He was interesting and informative as we learned about Yorkminster Cathedral, Clifford Tower, the Shambles, the gates of the walled city and more.
Fab experience. Nick was very knowledgeable. It was worth doing the walking trip. He was very patient as I had to translate few things for my mum.
Really great tour with so much information. A must do if you want learn about the history of York.
The guide was second to none with his knowledge and presentation. Nothing was too much trouble if one of us asked questions. Overall, I can recommend for the future.
We had an informative and highly enjoyable walking tour.
Great historical tour with some amazing myth busting revelations. The guide was extremely knowledgeable and was open to any questions.
This is a very interesting walking tour. Our guide, Nick, was engaging and extremely knowledgeable. The meeting place is in front of the statue of Constantine at York Minster. The meeting address states the statue but also states 4 Minster Yard, which is a bit confusing as Minster Yard is down the side, nowhere near the statue! The walk is fairly easy to negotiate, with plenty of stops where Nick supplies lots of historic information, including the most recent changes. Some pavements are narrow, some streets are cobbled and you do need to be able to climb and descend steps as part of the tour is along the walls. We really enjoyed it and as a result of the places of interest we went to , we’re planning a return visit to go inside and explore in more detail. Thanks Nick!
Nice tour to gain an overview of York.
The Presentor was excellent- knowledgeable, humorous & considerate. Despite the poor weather he was so engaging & considerate.
Excellent tour. Nick the owner was so good - an extremely interesting, knowledgable and informative guide. Highly recommended. Thank you Dave and Sally
Very informative tour. Not the most entertaining and seemed a bit disjointed. Loved being able to walk on the city walls. Not sure we got a true feeling of York. Adding a tour of York Minster would have helped (even with the additional cost)
John was amazing. He was very full of knowledge and candour for the 2 hour walking tour. We saw some hidden gems and expected sights. We never felt rushed, and John was very approachable. I would definitely recommend this tour.
Highly recommend this tour! The guide was very informative and kept us engaged throughout the entire two hours. The tour focused heavily on the town’s churches, but that was still very enjoyable. We also learned a great deal about the Roman garrison and Viking history, which made the experience even more interesting. My only disappointment was that we did not visit Clifford’s Tower, which I had assumed would be included in the tour.
We booked a walking tour fairly last minute for the following day in York , it lasted about 1 hr 45 mins which was just right . Set off at 12 by York Minster . Nick was the guide , he was humorous and really informative . Love a good walking tour as you find things out that you normally wouldn’t do , especially if you are strolling around on your own . The tour included a walk along the city walls , something I’d not done since I was a school girl . Would recommend the York tour and it’s a bonus if Nick happens to be your guide . We were lucky as the weather held off and the tour was at a good pace , the walk wasn’t too difficult. Nick told us lots of interesting things and we are glad we did the tour .
Very knowledgeable guide, took in a lot of the main sites, guide shared the history with few jokes along the way.
Nick our guide was very knowledgable, we really enjoyed all the history & the walk around York. We would recommend this tour.
Really could have spent all day doing this... Nick is knowledgeable, informative and engaging, so I learned a thing or two! Was like having a history podcast alongside you. History as stories, as it should be. Recommended, should be longer.
Excellent walking tour of the town and the wall. Our guide, Nick was wonderful. He explained so much of the history of York. Truly enjoyed this tour!
Nick effortlessly brought to life the fascinating history and stories that have shaped York into what it is today. The pacing was perfect, never feeling rushed or dragging at any point. There was a wealth of knowledge throughout, sprinkled with humour at times. Easily the best tour I’ve had during a month of travelling through both England and Scotland.
A great way to delve into the history of York enabling you to understand and see spots you would probably miss on your own. Good to just look and listen to a knowledgeable person rather than searching through a guide book.
An excellent introduction to the city of York and a great way to start a visit here. Nick was our guide and did a brilliant job sharing a wealth of historical information and context - he clearly knows his stuff! A great tour - highly recommended.
Nick was a great guide. Knowledgeable and personable - connecting the history of the city with a little humor and details.
Very informative tour guide, even for a 13 year old who loved it. We’d recommend for people new to York.
Martin was an excellent guide providing real history of York not the "popular myth" version. He took us through a chronological account of the development of York showing the evidence throughout the city. As with any city he showed those quirky bits whose meanings have ashamed over time. Thoroughly recommend this tour.
Excellent 90 min tour with Nick, a very knowledgeable and engaging guide. Learnt a lot about the history and influences on York. Just the 2 of us so had his undivided attention for the whole tour. Great thanks.
Ended up with a private tour for the two of us as we were the only ones booked. Good value and interesting. Wear comfy shoes.
Absolutely incredible tour. The guide was extremely knowledgeable and clearly passionate about the city. The history to York really bring the city to life
Our guide was extremely knowledgeable about history . He did a great job explaining all of the places in York.
