Fun, Flexible Treasure Hunt Around York With Cryptic Clues & Hidden Gems

Started ok but then a lot of the locations were closed or not able to reach, couldn't finished it has lost connection at number 13 so just ended up going home

This treasure hunt was extremely difficult. The third clue was completely missing, the fourth was incorrect, and it was very difficult knowing how far you should be walking to spot the answer, so it resulted in a lot of backtracking, and in the end, we couldn't finish it.

Our second York Treasure Hunt with this company, and just as enjoyable as the first one. We know York quite well, but on both occasions we found ourselves discovering parts of the city we'd never seen before. Clues are varied and just tough enough to stretch the brain cells without leaving you too frustrated. That, combined with the ability to stop for a drink and/or lunch on the way around the city, make either Treasure Hunt a great day out.

Fun exploring parts of York not seen before. Clues set about right, some quite easy to solve, others we needed a couple of hints. A great way to spend a few hours in a lovely city.

My two children and I played this game over two days. It was very fun and informative. York is very well suited to this kind of adventure. The riddles are tricky but doable. The "captain" makes some funny quips along the way. Fun for a family!

Really enjoyed this! Would recommend to anyone going to York. You go to places you wouldn't have come across if left to your own devices. Really fun and not made too easy so you have to look at your surroundings to solve.

Easy to book, clear and simple instructions as to how to get to the start of the trail. Overall we had a great time! We didn't struggle with use of the app functionality. Even with only one player logged in. We're sure this would be great for bigger groups even though we only did this as a couple. We loved the little hidden gems of information, and the sneaky discount in the pub (which was exactly what was needed) We took longer than stated to complete this mostly because we stopped to do many other things along the way! Good insight into all the areas we visited, and especially great foresight for giving us info ahead of the busiest sections. Thanks for guiding us around York!

This is our 3rd Treasure Hunt. Undoubtedly the best way to learn about a place. Lots of snippets of interesting information.

Booked this having done the hunt in Bath before Christmas where we had an awesome time. This was equally good. Its a great way to explore the city, to learn a little bit about it and see some quirky things you probably wouldn't notice. With the added fun of having to solve clues along the way. The clues are hard enough to make it fun and not to hard to frustrate. We will definitely be doing another one.

We did the treasure hunt around York and it was very interesting. We found lots of places that we wouldn’t have found otherwise and learnt a lot about the history of the city. We used a few hints but managed to find all but one clue. We have also done of the cities and enjoyed those too

We love a mystery tour / treasure hunt It is a really good way to see the main sites of the city and learn about its history. You go at your own pace and can stop for refreshments and see little add locations and points of interest. Easy to follow instructions and challenging clues just hard enough to be interesting We would do another one in another city, this was our third Treasure Hunt with them.

Great way to explore, fun and can shop en route too! Such a fab idea, wish they had this in every city! So many elements you might miss when just walking around, highly recommend!!

I always love doing puzzle tours. They are a great way to explore a city whilst also getting some good exercise. A fun way to pass the time and find areas of cities you may not ordinarily see.

went with auntie and cousins, nice walks and scenery around york. the clues were good and so were the hints. would recommend!

Although the weather made some parts unplayable, it was overall a very good game and we all had a laugh running around York and experiencing it all together!

This was a really fun, informative experience. We saw and found out lots about York and its history that we had missed on a previous visit. It was good value, easy to sign up for and to participate, no pressure or gimmicks, just a relaxed way to find out more about York and see the sights. Highly recommended.

Had a really good time on the treasure hunt, learned about the city, and saw some fascinating places along the snickelways that you wouldn't normally see. Easy to join at any time of day, and great clues (although some are a bit obscure, and others only make sense if you've found the object you need first, so keep your eyes peeled!). A great way to experience York. Would recommend.

We did this for a hen do and it was so much fun! The clues were a good level of not too easy/hard and we saw so many new things that we had never spotted in York before. It was a great way to spend a Sunday afternoon. Would highly recommend and would love to try the ones in other cities too!

Great time had by all! We took much longer getting round but that’s only because we lingered at places to take everything in. The edible garden and the quirky narrow passages were a highlight. The Shambles was incredibly busy so less enjoyable but still a must see. Treasure hunt and clues were pitched well. We did need a few hints along the way so nice to have this feature. Would recommend!

Great day out. Helped us find places in York we had never been before. We enjoyed visiting lots of different places and used the hunt flexibly taking time out for regular stops. Dog friendly too!

Looking for something different to do around York?! This treasure hunt was so much fun. The format was great, easy to follow directions, clues were good, not too easy and got you looking around and thinking. Could get a hint if you get a bit stuck. Also gives you some historical info and see beautiful places you didnt know were in the middle of York. Nice to wander at your own pace and take as many stops as you want. Really enjoyed this, our second treasure hunt from this company. Good fun, educational, and not too easy and not too hard. Got plenty of walking done, but many opportunities to rest, refresh or shop. Only possible minor grumble was that York Minster was not involved at all for some reason. But we will be back for another hunt at a future date

Highly recommend! Myself and wife along with our 6 month old baby completed this hunt and we thoroughly enjoyed it! Great fun and plenty of opportunities to stop when you wanted and then carry on. First time doing something like this and won’t be our last. My wife had been to uni here but said this showed her places she’d never seen. Pram friendly!

Great way to see York in a diffent way, excellent guide and fun! Covered a couple of miles while seeing all of the top sights of the city.

These trails successfully blend observational skills with cerebral exercise, along with historical information and a healthy walk. Some of the puzzles are quite challenging; more so than those in some other treasure trail options available on line. The organisational team are helpful - we had an issue accessing the trail and it was sorted out very quickly. Children will find this activity enjoyable and will be able to tackle the more observational puzzles, but will need help with the more analytical ones. Taking in the surroundings and refreshments along the way will stretch the trail to fill most of the day.

A great way to see York. You get to see all of the touristy areas but also lots of hidden gems. The quiz was really good, quite challenging in places but always fun, and you can take it at your own pace.

Really fun time with 2 pensioners and 2 kids and 3 adults. Very exciting finding the clues, the instructions were easy to follow and we only needed 1 hint. The group chat feature was helpful and this is a great way to see the city. We'll come and do the other treasure hunt soon :)

A great afternoon out. We loved the clues which led us round parts of York we had never seen before. The snippets of information were timely and very engaging. Second hunt we did. Did the first in Cambridge and it was quite difficult but this one is really good. Level of difficulty is just right. Made the all family walk without moaning. We had fun , we stopped for visiting the minster and treasurer’s house and other exceptional building. took us the whole day! We also liked the facts and learnt things ! Perfect!

The route was a good length (not too long and importantly not too short), with lots of place to explore along the way for those with enough time and energy. Lots of beautiful parts of York, and the treasure hunt drew our attention to little details we had repeatedly missed the previous two days. Interesting information presented in a fun way. Good for a family with early teenage kids.

What a fascinating and interesting treasure hunt. I’ve visited York several times but saw places I’ve never seen before. Such amazing gems and interesting facts. We were two couples and found the trail fun and informative. Very well thought through and a great way to explore York and learn more about this beautiful city. Would highly recommend.
