There is not a lot to see, especially as it gets dark. The driver was easily understood and gave as much information as was available. Comfortable and relaxing boat trip

Don’t expect much 🤣 The staff were super friendly and the boat itself was basic and clean. You can’t make a silk purse out of a sows ear, it was a trip up and down a river with nothing to see.
Fantastic evening. Great entertainment with music and commentary. Skipper Paul and the other crew was fantastic. Brilliant evening throughout.
Get the correct location Apple Maps said we were to meet next to the Cock and Bottle but that was wrong so we had to run across the bridge and down the siding to get to the boat with 2 minutes to board. The speakers weren’t very good so you have to sit next them to hear them There really isn’t any sites to see but it was a relaxing hour away from the city
This was a very enjoyable hour cruise. The dock is conveniently located in the downtown area, the staff was nice, and information given during the cruise about the history of York was great. I highly recommend sitting in the top back.
It was a pleasant ride. We enjoyed the cider offered on board. I wish Captain Alison would have shared more information along the way. We did enjoy what was shared.
Our. Captain was informative and explained all safety procedures at beginning of the cruise. A nice activity on our last night in York
When we did this in 2026, the crew gave a commentary but if that was happening this year, we couldn't hear it. Was fun to wave at the passers by and the passengers were all friendly. The captain not so much, not compared to last year. Moaned that we were too noisy! Drinks not as cheap as last year, wouldn't do it again.
Nice easy going boat trip, bar prices not extortionate either.lots of people had fish and chips on board which seemed to go down well
Very enjoyable trip along the river made even better as eclipse was happening. Crew provided solar glasses and positioned the boat to allow for good viewing. Recommend this activity
Was a nice relaxed trip on the boat and weather was perfect. We had a slight delay setting off due to a last minute change of crew member, think this was illness related but we weren't told. We sat on lower deck so wasn't much to see but didn't bother us as just wanted a boat trip. Some people had fish and chips but not sure how that was booked as never saw that option. The drinks weren't cheap but was nice to have available. Some people complained at the end it wasn't a full hour but again it didn't bother us as was only just over 5 minutes short but did cause a delay in getting off.
Boat & weather lovely, was a nice warm summer evening so thought we'd take in a little tourist trip. Thought was overpriced for the event, it did last an hour as advertised but was very underwhelmed with the information / commentary. There was only information given on half a dozen items and only cursory details at that. There are so many noteworthy things on the banks that were not mentioned. Will not be taking another trip.
Easy to find, great welcome on board, it was a boat full so couldn't hear the commentary very well, but was happily enjoying the good priced drinks, company and view anyway. Great value.
Not really a cruise! Half an hr one way then back Uncomfortable seats Couldn’t hear the guide either
It was a disappointing trip with little commentary. There were lots of opportunities to tell us more.
Good mix of music and tour facts about the area surrounding the river Ouse. Length of one hour perfect.
Probably the most disappointing boat trip we have ever taken. It was easy to find the meeting point and the crew were delightful, however, the commentary, which was advertised as interactive, lasted only 12 minutes of the hour long cruise. It certainly was not interactive in any way. It would be unfair to say we learned nothing new about York during the tour but we gained very little new information. There must be so much more to relate about the buildings and bridges that we passed in the city and information about the city and its history that could be discussed during the 48 minutes outside the city. We certainly would not recommend this trip.
Lovely boat trip in York . Did the evening tour . Old boat but that was ok. When the man was delivering a commentary it was good and informative. Unfortunately there was little information given due to most of the time pop music was played. York is an amazing place and for me I would have preferred more commentary and less music.
great experience - staff were friendly, drinks were reasonably priced, a great time was had by all!
Pleasant enough but not worth the money. Sam was informative with the commentary and staff were really nice
We loved this trip ! We have done boat trips before in York but only one before at night so this was special - especially as we were the only ones on the trip so had all the boat for just us which was very unexpected! The commentary was very interesting but not intrusive and learnt quite a lot we didn't know from previous trips. The views are lovely and the boat very comfortable. You also get 20% off drinks on the evening 'happy hour' trip which was appreciated. Have to mention both staff members as well - very helpful and friendly and although just two of us on that trip, and without us could probably have finished early, they made us very welcome and comfortable. Would definitely recommend this trip & the company 😊
A very enjoyable evening sail along the river Ouse. The commentary was brilliant, I loved the passion in the delivery.
We arrived on time at 6pm to see that the boat had already left. So disappointed.
Was dark almost straight away so didn't see much, pretty boring as couldn't really hear or understand what was being said through the speaker.
We went for an evening cruise, we didn't know what to expect really having never done anything similar. It was really good and interesting, there's plenty of space outside to sit so you're not squashed up with other people and there was inside space too, it was a bit chilly as we expected in February so it was nice to have options. There's also toilets and a bar which was nice. The staff, Sophia and Tyler were great and very friendly and welcoming. Sophia's commentary was funny and interesting and we were impressed she remembered it all! We'd definitely come back for a day cruise or a cruise with fish and chips, it was great and well worth the money.
There was not much to see after dark, maybe bring this cruise earlier to finish before dusk Until that point it was fine, commentary not very clear below deck
Such a disappointment and waste of time and money. It should be advertised as the most boring thing to do in York. What a shame.
Very pleasant hour long evening cruise along the river Ouse with friends which was booked a few days prior to our arrival in York.
Friendly crew, nice boat, interesting if limited commentary. Thank you for turning the sun on for us and for the beautiful balmy evening.
Weather was lovely so we sat on the top deck. Drinks and snacks very reasonable. It was a struggle to hear the tour guide at times but we still had a fab time!
Disappointing. Booked this for commentary but in the 1 hour we got about 5 minutes of commentary from Captain A - a) where the water in the Ouse comes from, b) the view of Minster towers and c) the Millennium bridge. Absolutely no commentary about the city itself (reason I booked). Blaring party music as well. *sigh*
Nice relaxing one hour cruise along the river, with interesting commentary. Enjoyed the fish and chips very much and bought a drink from the bar. A nice way to start off the evening. I took the 6pm cruise ( I had also booked the Happy hour cruise for the following evening, not realising that it is a shared cruise with the Fish and chip bookings. although advertised as two separate trips. Tried to upgrade to have the fish and chips again but crew member said they couldn't complete this request. Following day I ask at the booking stall by the castle and got sent to the ticket stall by the river. Turned out it was the same crew member from the night before - I kind of gave up and didn't take my booked cruise.) But the fish and chips cruise I did take, I enjoyed very much.
Was a nice hour boat trip; wouldn’t say it was good value but was a nice introduction to York. We did see a Kingfisher leaf the way in front of the boat which was amazing.
A gentle cruise away from the heaving masses on a Saturday evening was so refreshing! Not a great deal to see but some interesting commentary on the bridges. The onboard bar serving snacks and drinks was an added bonus. Overall pleasant experience and worth the ticket price. Only downside, the choice of music was dire. Silence to enjoy the surroundings would have been preferable.
Excellent crew aboard this teatime cruise along the river. It was relaxing and the captain was informative and we really enjoyed the experience. Thank you :)
We did the Happy Hour cruise departing at 6pm and it was not what we were expecting. We were hoping to see some of York’s landmarks and learn something about the city, but there was very little commentary. If you want a cruise seeing mainly trees and greenery with reasonably priced drinks and wave to people walking on the riverbank then this won’t disappoint. If you want to get a flavour of York and learn something then it’s best to avoid. I have recently done a cruise along the Thames in London and the guide was facing us and engaging with his audience. He put a lot of effort and humour into his commentary. This was sadly lacking on this cruise, and not helped by the fact that the guide was facing forwards and piloting the boat.
We did the Alive after Five cruise which promises a happy hour, though drinks were nit discounted and the live commentary was only for 10 minutes out of an hour trip The rest was terrible music. We learnt very little about the city's rich heritage and this was the worst river cruise I've ever been on. You may as well hire your own and at least not have to listen to an ancient playlist!
It was a cool, relaxing trip down the river. Less tour info than I was expecting, and the music selection was more pep rally than happy hour to me, maybe some jazz or mellow music would have fit the occasion better, but that may be personal preference. Overall pleasant though, even with the rain. Bar selection was good lots of alcoholic and non-alcoholic selections.
Staff was friendly, the ride was smooth down the river. From the description I thought we'd hear more local colour and facts, that only happened for the 2nd half of the tour.
We were lucky with a sunny evening and enjoyed the trip overall. Nice to have lovely river views of York. However the live tour commentary was fairly minimal and we couldn’t really hear him.
I found all the spots to get to the water front accept for this one therefore I missed the tour. The GPS took me to wrong spots
Lovely relaxing trip, with beautiful riverside views and brief historical information as well as reasonably priced drinks. Friendly professional staff and lots of available seating both inside and out, We thoroughly enjoyed our experience and would definitely recommend it.
A thoroughly lovely hour on the river. Very entertaining Captain in Andy. Very intuitive on the river bank activities 🤭. Reasonable priced, drinks on board also a good price. Was beautiful weather and an alternative evening activity. We were a group of 6 friends. Thank you
We enjoyed the cruise! If you're just wanting a cruise then I'm sure any of the boats would do. Only gave 4 * as even though we enjoyed the cruise I wouldn't say it was fully as advertised. Hardly any drinks, bar was bare and limited choice especially for a "happy hour" cruise. We were promised commentary but hardly any but think they had technical issues. It also advertised activities packs for children but none to be seen! Maybe just go for a regular cruise instead if it's cheaper 😊
Lovely trip down the River with good commentary and great views. Food and drink available to add the icing ont he cake
The trip was booked easily enough and the boat itself and crew were fine but it only goes up the river for about a mile most of which is in the countryside so not much to see other than the riverbank it turns and comes back again seeing the same thing Then goes maybe a mile in the other direction of the starting point some of the history is interesting but don’t be expecting a river cruise to compare with maybe New York
Amazing service made to feel very welcome by isabelle, she had amazing customer service and is a credit you! Thank you xx
What a fantastic and pleasurable evening trip on the Ouze. The great weather helped tremendously of course. Well captained and interesting commentary. Bar was more than adequate. Easy to find and good access. Recommended
My wife and I really enjoyed this boat ride. The crew members were knowledgeable and helpful. York is beautiful! Highly recommend.
This was a happy hour cruise where you get 20% off drinks. I didn’t book it for that reason but always an added bonus. Three crew members were friendly and learning some of the history of York was interesting whilst going up and down the Ouse. They play music in between the commentary. One of my long weekend highlights!
