Friendly and extremely knowledgeable guide and driver, a great way to get to know York, and familiarise yourself with the city, and use the hop-on-off service.

We could not find the place to redeem voucher you send via email to me. I asked people around that address ; they said that CITY SIGHT SEEING CO. Is not exist any more. As I emailed back to you, the mail I sent got back to me "mail did not go to Viator'. Pls. Refund my money.

A way to explore the city in the dry. Best to be on top deck though but was pouring down when we went. Love the history guide very interesting and a bargain if wanting to jump on and off to explore

Was a good tour - easy to book, very clear instructions and good sightseeing. I liked that it has a 24h or 48h tickets so you basically can enjoy it by getting off on every stop and getting back on the bus whenever you feel like you’ve done with a sight. Surely recommend!

Adam the tour guide was awsome, hus kniwledge was outstanding, his interaction was allso brilliant.shall definately do again when back in York.

Wow! Was dreading this a bit due to a back issue and wasn’t sure if my back would cope with the movement. How wrong was I , Nicky our bus driver drove the bus with such care, she was polite, friendly and humorous. Steve the tour guide was so knowledgeable, funny and made our time on the bus unforgettable. I can’t recommend them and the company enough. You can also download an app to see when the next bus is due for your hop on, hop off experience, a fab way to tour York.

This is a great way to experience York with the ease of multi-generational families for getting around. Guides were friendly and knowledgeable. Definitely recommend!

We met Joshua at the pick up point near The Minster. He explained the route and options together with the different pricings. All very helpful and we decided on the 24 hour pass. The bus was comfortable and very informative on our first circuit whilst we decided where further to explore. We made full use of the ticket with another 3 trips. Thoroughly recommend.

We had a fantastic experience on Monday! First of all our first trip we had Steve and Yann who were like a double act! Steve was brilliant and we found him very interesting and even though we can’t make it up the stairs it was like he was with us anyway and yann the driver kept pointing things out for us and chatting. We enjoyed it that much we came back for another trip after a very nice lunch. We unfortunately didn’t have Steve or anyone talking but we had the luxury of having driver Yann again and there were only the two of us on the bus and we felt very special as he spent the round trip talking to us and recommending places. He was a very charming young man, who like Steve are a credit to your service, along with the young man at the art gallery bus stand who sadly we didn’t catch his name. Always enjoy a tour on these buses to get a good look around the city. Tour was informative and guide was interesting. You can see the city in an hour and get on and off when ever you choose. Staff are extremely helpful and polite

I looked up tours in New York and this tour comes up. I went to look up the meeting location the day of and relized it was York, England. Why would a tour in the U.K. come up when I searched NYC tours???

Waited way too long at stop and couldn’t easily distinguish which bus was right so had 4 drivers (all red hop on hop off) tell us we didn’t have the right bus. My husband gave up and called Ubers. Also the stops are not convenient to all sights.

14 September 2026. Guide Jeremy gave an excellent and interesting presentation. Great humor. Driver Shawn is such a considered driver . Well don’t to both of them . Highly recommend going on it for an overview of York city .

During our two-day break in York, the 48-hour ticket covered our entire stay. The guide brought York’s history and landmarks to life with impressive knowledge and distinctive humour. At a time when recorded commentary is becoming more common, the live presentation stood out. We completed the full tour twice over the two days and learned something new each time. It offered excellent value and deepened our appreciation of York. We recommend taking the bus tour before beginning your sightseeing. It provides a helpful overview of York’s highlights and makes it easy to explore them at your own pace by hopping on and off throughout the day. The hop-on, hop-off service made visiting the attractions easy and convenient. It was perfect for our trip, and we would happily use it again on a future visit to York. Every driver and guide was friendly, approachable, and helpful.

Absolutely brilliant. All of the staff are lovely. The bus drivers are very considerate and wait until everyone's sat before they drive away from a stop. The guides are very knowledgeable and entertaining and all of them will definitely look after you and make sure you get off where you want to go. Cannot rate highly enough. Thanks!

We had a weekend break in York so we got the 48 hour ticket, this covered us for the complete stay and the extra day is only £5, excellent value. Big thanks to Josh our driver and Steve and Jeremy who were the guides, wow do they know alot!! We were visiting some of the museums and the bus just made it so easy to do this. Perfect would do it again if we are visiting York.

First time visitors to York, and had we not chosen to take this tour, we would have missed so much! We were welcomed by our driver Sean, who, on discovering we were South Africans, did his best to give us a warm greeting in Afrikaans, which really made us smile. Our day started at 9:30 with the first round, and ended with the very last round after 4. Sean, who had been driving that bus around all day, was still bright and cheerful. Chris and Nigel were our live guides, and what stars they were! Both able to rattle off the historical significance of York and things to see, all while adding their own brilliant and unique humour to it. In days where dull audio recordings seem to be taking over, we were so impressed with our little crew. (Chris also brings a fabulous hairstyle to the show for you to admire and envy!) We did the full tour twice and each time, learned a few new things. This tour is such good value for money. It made us appreciate York for all that it was and is, and gave us a good idea of what would be most interesting to see according to our taste. Highly recommended. Huge thanks to Sean, Chris and Nigel who made us feel like the first visitors they had ever had, even though they must have done the route and commentary literally thousands of times. If we could choose to do only one thing in York, this would be it because it gives a little insight into the whole city.

We waited at the Stonebow Bus Stop for over 45 min for a bus that never arrived. We got there around 16:15, but the busses must have stopped early because we finally walked away at 16:50 with no bus in sight. Several other people had been waiting at the bus stop before we arrived, and said the CS bus hadn't been by in a long time. We only got to hop on and off once. While on it, the experience was very fun and accommodating. But don't expect it to arrive after 16:00. Not worth the money, and a waste of time.

Went on a tour yesterday (29th August) which we enjoyed, but when we had left the bus and crossed over the road to head towards the walls, our driver was shouting out of the window and swearing at another person, I think it must of been a driver in another car! We didn’t bother getting on the bus again after this as thought it wasn’t very nice! How can you employ drivers like this?!

Before you start any of your adventures Cant I recommend doing a bus trip. This gives you an idea of some of the best places to go and the best thing is you can hop on and off.

A really good way to see York and be able to hop on and off with discounts for a couple of other attractions. Guide was first class with excellent historical knowledge and the rest of the staff we interacted with were knowledgeable and friendly. Would recommend.

Lovely tour informative easy to use takes u all round york to the races if anyone is attending that day easier than a taxi if u leave early

A great tour which not only is informative and interesting, with multiple tour guides putting their own spin on York's history, but is also a great way to get around the city with a simple circular route taking in the racecourse, railway station, Bootham Bar, the Shambles/Stonebow and Walmgate Bar/Fishergate areas. The 48 hr pass not only gave us multiple opportunities to get around York but was also a great way to get to/from the station and our accommodation. 100% recommended and will use again on our next visit!!!

back from a 3 day trip to York,went on the hop-on bus it was good fun got on at exhibtion square, staff there were very helpfull ,also staff on bus very informotive about York enjoyed the trip very much ,and a stop right next to the railway station and our Hotel .would recommed.

As a family of 5 we got a 48hr ticket. It was a great experience all are kids enjoyed it ages 5, 10 12 as they provided commentary for younger listeners aswell as older. Staff were helpful and freindly expecially Josh and leander would definitely recommend these guys and if you get chance for in person commentary Adam is brilliant

Just returned home from our 2 week tour of Yorkshire and the very worst part of it was on the 7th of August, when we decided to use the tour bus! We spent most of the time parked up whilst the driver was on his phone, the tour took close to an hour and a half when we were earlier told it would take around 45 minutes. What’s worse, is my mother who was downstairs said she heard the driver using disgusting language which is totally unacceptable and ruined her experience! Had my mum told me this had happened whilst we were upstairs I’d of challenged this behaviour myself but she only told me afterwards. I felt sorry for the other passengers aboard, and the man with the very distinct northern accent with the microphone, he tried his best and looked embarrassed as to the fact nobody knew what the delays were. The staff away from the bus seemed nice, I asked the nice lady when I got off the bus for the drivers name and she stated his name was Ryan. I have phoned up 3 times now as I want, and feel that we deserve a refund! Can someone please get in touch and respond. Many thanks.

I enjoyed this introductory tour of York. It was very informative, and the staff was kind and helpful.

Great experience right from the start. Took the tour bus from Exhibition Square where the lovely Josh explained how it all worked & booked our tickets for us. He was a real breath of fresh air welcoming, fun & smiling but still very polite & professional. The driver was also very informative & his commentary definitely added to the tour. Superb way to see the City, get your bearings then use the hop on, hop off element to see your favourite parts. Would recommend.

Had a lovely time visiting our favourite UK city, my family and I are from New Orelans, US. We vacayed for a week in York and really rated our trip on the sightseeing bus. The driver was especially kind and was super friendly. His name was Yan I’m unsure of the spelling but he said it was polish, he had lovely manners and was super helpful in telling us about how to get to certain places we wanted to see and just made our trip much more enjoyable! Great guy. When we visit again we will most definitely take another tour on the bus and hope he is our driver again! Send our thanks to him please.

Located by Exhibition Square is where you can begin your journey with City Sightseeing York. Tickets can be purchased direct from the reps or from the Tourist Information Centre. Tickets can be for 24 or 48 hours and are excellent value for money. The bus takes around an hour with highlights including Clifford’s Tower and the Shambles. The commentary is either given by a live guide or through headphones. We had a live guide. There was a noisy child throughout the tour and the guide dealt with it amicably and made the tour engaging and interesting despite this. Your ticket will also get you discounts in local shops and venues such as Drake’s Fish and Chips and York Dungeon. For a great start to your time in York use City Sightseeing!

The booking and finding where the activity started was a breeze. The whole journey was informative and funny. The tour guide was very funny and knowledgeable.

Been on many hop hop off bus tours world wide. Just been on the tour around York uk. We were met by Sarah who explained what the bus tour would cover . Also the option of including a boat cruise which combined with the bus tour would be a cheaper option .we decided to take both tours. We bordered the bus and was welcomed by Mick the driver Throughout the tour which lasted 1 hour on the bus Micks knowledge of York and its history was incredible. My wife and I both agreed this was the best bus tour we have ever been on. Thank you Sarah for persuading us to take the and Mick for his expertise

Handy tour bus, great knowledgeable tour guide, handy to hop on and off at various stops, and regular. Worth the money!

We have done quite a few of city sightseeing’s hop on hop off tours now, both in the UK and abroad, and generally find them to be pretty good. This one was no exception! Excellent, helpful and friendly staff - the bus driver was a genuinely lovely lady and a second lady, who came onto the bus to take our payment, was also nice. Great broadcast commentary in English (with the option for a few other languages, although not as many as I’ve seen in some other cities) and an interesting hour long route in total, although obviously you can get off and on as you wish. A very pleasant way to get an overview of this ancient city so crammed full of history.

It’s a great way to see York. Easy to use. We used it for a full day. Saved a lot of walking. The commentary was informative

From the beginning it was excellent. The lovely and polite young man we booked our tickets with , the driver and staff on the bus to the tour and commentary. Everything about this experience is excellent. Brilliant way to get yourself familiar with the city then use on/off facility.
