Christmas Guided Walking Tour In York

Absolutely brilliant. A wonderful romp through Christmas past and present with a distinct focus on York. Sarah brings immense energy to these walks and it was a joy to take part in. A must attend!

We had a wonderful tour with Sarah! She knows so much about the city and its history, but it was never ever dull. Despite the cold, we found ways to move and keep warm and she kept us completely engaged. While Christmas was definitely the theme, there was so much more. One of the best things about the tour was that we took part in it at the very beginning of our stay in the city, and afterward we're able to follow up on things she talked about. I don't think a day went by when we weren't reminded of something she had said. I wish our photos did it justice. A fantastic tour - thank you, Sarah.

Excellent way to see York and hear of many of the stories of Christmas that we had never heard before. The guide was very knowledgeable and overall, very enjoyable.

Sarah was great! Incredibly knowledgeable and yet she made everything fun and intriguing. It was very exciting to visit some of these sites on our very first day in York. It made it that much more interesting on successive days as we walked around the city, recognizing landmarks that she pointed out during our tour. And having such an experience at Christmas was a special treat!

very informative tour, sarah provided many interesting historical facts regarding many different eras including the vikings and romans! she also mentioned different countries such as scotland and the netherlands which was a nice touch. took us to some lovely locations around the city centre of york to go with the stories and info she was telling us. sarah was a lovely tour guide and very interactive and welcoming, would reccomend the tour to anyone looking for something to do to get in the christmas spirit!

Sarah was great. Well prepared. Interesting stories in all sorts of Christmas anecdotes. Everything from Romans to Terry’s Chocolate orange. Well done. Awful constant rain but that wasn’t her fault!

Really enjoyed the Christmas guided walking tour. Sarah kept it interesting and we learnt a lot about how Christmas has been celebrated over many years. We were taken into the Assembly Rooms which is now Ask restaurant and saw what a beautiful building it is. The tour is very good value and I would definitely recommend it.

A very interesting tour with a very good guide, who kept our interest throughout. She was informative and knew how to entertain. We learnt about the history of Yule, Saturnalia, Christmas traditions and about the Winter Solstice as applied to York and specific locations in York. Excellent.

Amazing walk, you get to places you would otherwise not visit. Interesting storytelling and facts. There was even a live band playing christmas music!

This tour is where Sarah spreads her knowledge and love of York onto the visiting group in a warm and entertaining fashion which, to me, captures the whole spirit of Christmas. Informative and very Christmassy! Sarah was easy to understand and clear. Exactly the right length of time. Romans, Vikings and Victorian's, so much was covered- who knew that Christmas traditions came from so many different sources!

We loved seeing the different Historic sites of York, and hearing the interesting facts about how Christmas came to be there. Brilliant, funny, informational walking tour. Sarah’s stories seamlessly wove Christmas into the history of York, from the Romans through to Terry’s Chocolate Oranges (my husband’s favourite part) via Rudolph, monks and and mince pies we thoroughly enjoyed our sparkling introduction to this beautiful city. We are thoroughly convinced that York really is the ‘most Christmassy city’! and we will be back 🌟🌟🌟

The tour was extremely windy by the Minster! But we had an excellent guide, Michele, who kept the group of just under 20 entertained and informed. She was excellent. I have lived in York most of my life and learnt a great deal. And I think our American friends were very engaged in the tour and the variety of places visited, as well as the references to Vikings and Romans and the medieval era. I liked the piece about Charles Dickens too. Very good, highly recommended!

Sarah provided a wonderful Christmas themed tour of her city. Her historical references were spot on and helped us understand the city and how it grew from Romans to Vikings to Georgian and modern times.

The walking tour was really great and Sarah was so lovely and is a wealth of knowledge. We had quite a wet day for our tour so Sarah made sure we were under cover as much as we realistically could be for the tour while also seeing the main sights.
