Great experience and what a wonderful little find. It was really interesting learning about chocolate making process, and then making a chocolate bar.
We attended the make a bar of chocolate workshop. It was interesting to get some background on the chocolate and how Terry’s is unique. Our ‘guide’ was fabulous. Really clear explanations and everything she told us was interesting. The chocolate making was a very simple intro to tempering chocolate and we could add whatever flavourings or toppings we wanted. Good fun & suitable for all ages. Gift shop is expensive but you get a discount if you did the workshop.
It was amazing. The lady leading the chocolate making work shop was very kind and her instructions were very easy to keep up with and I was not bored even for a moment. There were a lot of options to customise the chocolates with different molds, toppings, and flavours. The chocolate and the end was delicious too and melted in your mouth.
Don’t trip over the electric flex on the floor round the room. You are not told you have to wait for half an hour at the end until your chocolate is set. There is not much room to sit down and wait.
This was fab! Henry our chocolatier was lovely, so friendly and welcoming and full of information. This would be a great experience for families, couples or friends! Plenty of choice of toppings and moulds. Great atmosphere would recommend
It was a very enjoyable hour making a nice bar of chocolate each to take home with us. Great for adults and children alike. Highly recommended.
Fabulous experience, host was very knowledgeable and engaging. Was fun to listen to and actively engaged his audience.
Really fun and interesting. The guide Henry was great, funny and knowledgable. Loved it. Highly recommend this experience in York.
Sam our instructor was wonderful and very knowlegeable and able to answer all of our questions. He was enthusiastic and engaging. Unfortunately we had been displaced from the usual enclosed area despite booking well in advance for the owner to give a private meeting in this area which made us feel our booking wasn't important to the cocoa works. This meant we were in the main shop which was noisy and distracting and did impact on our enjoyment of the session.
My husband and I had a really fun time in this chocolate class. We learned about how chocolate is made and came away with delicious chocolate. Highly recommended!
A fun option for everyone. Lots of interesting information and our instructor was very good. We both brought our chocolate bar home with us!
An interesting, informative and fun lecture, however aprons would have been appreciated as it involves melted chocolate. The whole experience lasts about an hour but the chocolate bars are not prepared until the very end then take roughly 30 minutes to set. Bear this in mind if you are on a tight schedule.
Very good idea for something to do I will be doing again with my kids as it would suit all ages highly recommend
Was a great experience learning how the chocolate is make even got to make our own chocolate and take it home . The lady was really interesting and shoukd be in a pantomime lol
Such a fun workshop! Lots of interesting information about chocolate and the shop. Staff were super helpful too.
We had a fantastic afternoon. Meia, our chocolate guru and teacher, was so knowledgeable about chocolate. She made the whole experience feel easy. I was worried I wouldn’t keep up with everyone; however, with her as our teacher, it felt fun and simple. I would definitely recommend this as a worthwhile family experience. Don’t delay, book today!
Amazing experience, super great offer with trip advisor thank you 🙏 for making this experience affordable ❤️
So Much Fun! We had no idea Coca was such a big part of York. But we had a really good time. The class was easy and the instructor was awesome. Would absolutely recommend!
Great experience, friendly staff and value for money. Great fun had too. Very informative regarding chocolate content.
Great time making chocolate bars 🍫 today with my great nephew. Maia who ran the workshop was excellent. Very informative, helpful, polite and friendly. Such a fantastic place and the chocolate is of very high standards
Fun times but overpriced for sure
The experience is fun and very informative. You learn so much about how much time and effort goes into good quality chocolate making not just the mass production kind. Would recomend this to my friends and family.
Really enjoyed our visit! Very informative and it was great to have a lovely bat of chocolate to take home that we had made. Would recommend.
Such a fun session, really enjoyed learning about Cocoa Works York and the process of making chocolate. Came away with a delicious orange dark chocolate and peppermint milk chocolate 😋 our guide was great too - wish I got her name but she was super knowledgeable and funny! Would definitely recommend anyone to make a stop here on a trip to York
This caught my eye for things to do in York so we booked it for my husbands birthday. The girl was brilliant (sorry forgot her name) she was very good at explaining the origins of cocoa beans etc. The melting of the chocolate etc was fun and again it was explained really well even when there were a few rude people making noises. The end result was excellent and we were impressed with our handy work (you can't really go wrong ). It was a lot of fun and with a nice bar of chocolate at the end of it.
Very well run informative session with lots to taste! Lots of unusual flavours & toppings to choose from
What a great day out and amazing activity. We learnt a lot about chocolate. The guy running the course was really informative and supportive especially as we had young children with us. Highly recommend this to anyone to do! The end chocolate bars were amazing!
Well worth a visit. We had great fun and our tutor was full of facts about chocolate which was really interesting. Air con was heaven in the heat too. Plus we got to fetch away he chocolate bar we made each.
A friendly place with a lovely atmosphere. The chocolatier was very knowledgeable and made the experience fun
We really enjoyed this workshop. If you want more history or an intro to chocolate-making, I would suggest looking at one of the other options in York, but we had a great time and came away with delicious chocolate bars.
If you love chocolate and want to make your own bar with a choice of flavour, then go for it. Our teacher was knowledgeable and presented the whole process of chocolate making, starting with cocoa pods, in a very accessible way for all ages. It was great fun to make your own chocolate bar, choosing your own flavour, and a range of other treats added into the chocolate to design your own chocolate bar.
it was SO good. I was worried it would be just decorating chocolate , or just walking round the factory. but it was SO informational in such a fun and interactive way! perfect for any and all ages, the only thing i will say is i saw zero accommodations for wheelchairs since the tables were higher than normal tables and there were cables all over the floor BUT the staff were so lovely i bet they’d get something sorted in a jiffy. my partner and i bought a pack of chocolate truffles on our way out, hoping to be a special treat and we inhaled them after getting home they were so good. there were a possible 16 people there and it was very close knit and interactive, im very socially anxious and i still really enjoyed myself.
Excellent fun informative and very enjoyable
We had a chocolate making workshop with Sam. We were celebrating our anniversary and he was so amazing and insightful completely throughout the workshop and answered all our questions and queries. Really thankful and glad he made our day so special. Thank you so much Sam we will definitely be back next time we are in York!
Something different and nice to learn about chocolate. I did this with my 16 year old daughter and we enjoyed the time together
Sam was incredibly informative throughout the workshop, sharing his extensive knowledge of chocolate in a way that was both engaging and easy to understand. He explained the history, origins, and production process with enthusiasm, making the experience educational as well as enjoyable.
very interesting to learn about how the chocolate is made
Really friendly staff, they give some facts, some chocolate and some hair dryers :). I recommend it and the quality of the chocolate is very good.
A great fun,and informative workshop, about chocolate production. You then get to temper chocolate and make your own chocolate bar which is packaged once cooled for you u to take home. The chocolate is top quality and delicious. We all said we would do the class again on our next visit to York.
It was at i expected. Good selection of chocolate additives. The guide was lovely and informative. I did wish I got told about the ingredients before the flavouring to add for the chocolate, or be given a list, it was hard to choose! You get a discount as well in the shop. Lasted about an hour, got to come back after doing some shopping to collect the chocolates. Class of about 16? Open to all ages.
Absolutely fantastic, hubby and dad loved it, was a birthday surprise for hubby, The lady who did the workshop was brilliant, made everyone feel relaxed, and have fun
An amazing attraction! Austin made our tour and experience extra special by explaining the history behind the chocolate factory more engaging. We got to try plenty of chocolates along the way as well!! I booked the Truffle rolling tour as well, meaning we made our own chocolates and got to experience a live demonstration on how some of the chocolates were produced! The shop is also a must-see! The chocolates are incredible and are very high quality! The chocolates in the mini-fridge next to the till are beautiful! I'd recommend doing the tour and truffle rolling, or just popping in and buying some chocolates!!
This was a very personalized experience and we truly enjoyed making our bars and finding out about the different types of chocolate. It seemed much more authentic than the other experiences we saw in town.
Fairly pricey i thought however chocolate tastes amazing and was quite fun making your own, Sam who led ours made it really interesting and fun, possibly more aimed at older kids but we still had good time as adults.
The kids really enjoyed it, and I liked how the teacher interacted with everyone. I learnt a lot and have really enjoyed the chocolate we made although I've not managed to eat it all yet…
Began with an informative talk on the chocolate making process, including an opportunity to taste plain and milk chocolate before making own bar to take home. Group size quite small so not waiting around for a long time. Had a choice of chocolate type, toppings and moulds. Found using a hair drier was a surprisingly quick and efficient method to melt the chocolate. Could collect finished chocolate bar after a 30 min wait. Very well organised and an enjoyable experience,
Lovely visit with my grandsons. They loved the whole experience. Very informative chat at start and fun making the chocolate bars !
Excellent. The lady running the session was friendly, knowledgeable and fun. Really enjoyed learning about chocolate and making a bar to take home. Definitely recommend!
