The Milner York

This hotel is superbly situated being literally a few steps from York station platform 2. Our room had a great view overlooking the garden and towards York Minster. Like the rest of the hotel the room was furnished to a high standard with a comfortable king bed and 2 easy chairs. Room also had a safe plus facilities for making tea and coffee. The Garden Room is a place to relax where you can get drinks snd snacks and The Swollen Gambler is a small bar which also serves a small menu of traditional pub food. Peacheys Bar offers both a set and a la carte menu in the evenings plus a buffet style breakast. Food was excellent at both meals. Staff throughout the hotel were friendly and helpful and nothing was too much trouble. Highly recommended and will definitely be returning in the near future. Definitely 5 stars.

Absolutely flawless. We had a truly delightful city break. When visiting a new place, you sometimes don't know quite what to expect, but within moments of arriving at The Milner York, we knew it was going to be lovely. The room we stayed in offered exactly what everyone hopes for: plenty of space and great functionality. Best of all, the bed was incredibly comfortable—we slept like babies. We had dinner at the hotel restaurant, and it was delicious. I highly recommend the steamed cod loin with a white bean and pine nut velouté and Whitby crab. It was exquisite and beautifully presented. The cod was cooked to perfection. The staff skillfully met our expectations—absolutely flawless. They were pleasant and friendly, as well as very helpful. It was a shame to leave The Milner York. We look forward to returning to The Milner on our next visit to York.

Overall great. The room was the smallest we have ever stayed in but was clean and relatively modern. It was up on the third floor. The staff were first class and the food in the restaurant for breakfast and dinner was excellent. The hotel itself has several areas to relax which are all luxurious and tastefully decorated. The location is perfect right next to the station and a 5 minute walk to the centre of town. We enjoyed our stay and would have no hesitation returning.

I had a wonderful stay at The Milner and would absolutely stay here again. I had booked a Superior Double and was amazed at the size of my room. I don’t know whether I was fortunate enough to receive an upgrade, as nothing was mentioned, but it felt much more like a suite than a standard hotel room. As well as the large bedroom, there was a separate seating area with a sofa and second TV, followed by an additional dressing area. It was beautifully comfortable and very well equipped. The hotel itself is a beautiful building and its original architectural details give it so much character. The location is excellent, particularly if you’re travelling by train. The staff were excellent throughout. Everyone I encountered was friendly and professional, including the housekeeping staff who always greeted me in the corridors. A particular thank you has to go to Jennifer on reception, who was exceptionally welcoming and made me feel genuinely looked after throughout my stay. This was my first solo trip and choosing The Milner turned out to be a very good decision. I felt comfortable, welcome and thoroughly spoiled by that fabulous room. Thank you for such a lovely stay.
