Lovely hotel with a good amount of on site parking which is very welcome. Staff are very welcoming. Room was comfy with great air con, which was welcome as there was a heatwave. Gluten free breakfast was one of the best I've had but gluten free options for dinner were limited. Would definitely visit again.
Spent four nights, with breakfast, while visiting York. Room was comfortable, attractive, clean and in excellent repair. Bathroom clean and convenient. Initially found the bathroom sink was emptying too slowly. Reported it to the desk and it was promptly fixed. Breakfast was excellent and Michelle was cheerful, friendly, efficient and offered suggestions on things to do in York (without being intrusive). All staff we encountered were friendly, helpful and professional. Altogether a lovely stay in an excellent hotel in an interesting town.
Loved it. Had a junior suite, and it was very well presented. The air conditioning units outside ran all night, but it didn't affect our sleep; just a bit of white noise. Room was great. 5/10 minute walk up into York centre and the walls. Bar and hotel was really nice. Staff were great. Breakfast was good. Plenty of parking.
We had an afternoon tea at the Bistro at Hotel Du Vin. The tea selection was lovely with plenty of choice and big pots so you got a good 4 cups out of them, they were all loose leaf which were tasty! The sandwiches were lovely too, each in a different type of 'bread' from croissants to ciabatta which made them all a bit more interesting than the usual sliced bread. The desserts were fantastic and just the right amount! The staff were all very lovely and attentive. Overall, this was a fantastic afternoon tea and we would certainly return! They also have parking on site which makes it very accessible.
What a wonderful team at Hotel Du Vin – especially the lady on reception. She was so genuinely warm and kind from the moment we walked in, tired and rumpled after a long journey, that it felt like coming home to an old friend. She didn’t just check us in; she chatted, helped with everything, and made us smile so easily that our whole mood lifted. Every time we saw her after that, she had the same lovely energy – it genuinely made our stay feel special, and we’ve been telling everyone we know that Hotel Du Vin is now our go-to whenever we travel. Edinburgh is already on the plan for our next trip! The rest of the staff were just as friendly and attentive in that same quietly brilliant way. The hotel itself is gorgeous – spotlessly clean, with beautiful décor that mixes modern comfort and proper old-fashioned charm in the best possible way. Our room was incredibly comfortable, the breakfast was perfect, and the location meant we could walk to almost everything or jump in a cab for two minutes. Honestly, they’ve nailed the gold standard in every single detail, and it made all the difference. We can’t recommend this place enough. Thank you – we’ll be back soon. Al and Jess
