Had a great day with my driver Didik! He was very kind and helped with photos. Jomblang Cave was a great experience with amazing photo opportunities and Timang Beach was beautiful as well. Make sure to bring enough cash for the additional cost of activities, I paid 500k for the cave, 400k for a Jeep to Timang, 200k for the gondola across to Timang Island, and 30k for photos on a wooden walkway.

Jomblang Cave is one of hundreds of Gunungkidul cave complexes which are famous for their uniqueness and undeniable beauty. Located on a stretch of karst hills on the south coast that extends from Gombong, Central Java; to the karst area of the Sewu Mountains, Pacitan, East Java, the Jomblang Cave was used as a shooting location for the Amazing Race of America in 2011. This vertical collapse doline type cave was formed due to a geological process by which the soil and vegetation on it subsided to the bottom of the earth. last year. These ruins form a sinkhole or well with an area of about 50 square meters at the mouth of the cave. In Javanese, wells are also known as luweng, so that this cave is often called Luweng Jomblang.
The name “Timang” is taken from a big boulder that breaks the waves which is located in the middle of this ocean. This bif boulder is called Timang Island. Timang island becomes the main attraction for tourists. Because there is Gondola or kind of cable car that can be used to cross Timang island. This Gondola was made in 1997 and was used by the fishermen who wanted to look for seafood such as lobster to cross the ocean because it was imposile for them to reach that island on boat since the waves and the sea water stream are heavy. Finally, this gondola was created to facilitate them in finding lobsters.Because of a lot of tourists are interested in this Gondola ride, this Gondola becomes the main attraction of Timang Beach. This gondola was made of acacia wood which is uses one or two stationary rope for moving support. It use the rope because the rope is more solid to sea water than iron and steel. Gondola can take only a person to cross to Timang island.

Rio is a very engaging, responsible and well-travelled tour guide; he looked after me throughout my trip just like an older brother would.
It was a nice experience, recommend it! From going down to the cave, entering it, finding our way towards the lights and having a lunch to finish off the day. Timang beach was also a nice experience, although we did not cross over the bridge because it was raining. We still enjoyed a nice view while drinking a coconut.
Our day began with an early pickup by our chill and nice driver, Wedha! After an 1,5 hour drive we arrived at the Jomblang cave where we descended into the cave under great guidance. Inside the cave it’s super muddy and I’d definitely recommend to bring a pair of extra socks. Because although you get boots from the organization, your socks inside will get dirty. I don’t recommend the journey into the cave for anyone who has trouble walking, climbing, or any other disability, as the 300 meter walk was slippery, wet and a little tough on the legs. But the effort is definitely worth it, great views on the light coming through the ceiling of this cavern, really a sight to behold. After returning from the cave, Wedha drove us to Timang beach, not all the way, because at a certain point we had to transfer into a jeep that brought us to the large rocky island where we went on a gondola that brought us across. The people there are experts in photoshops and are incredibly helpful, just ask for any help if needed. After a safe return from Timang beach with the jeep, it was our nice driver, Wedha who brought us all the way back to our accommodation, thank you! Overall it’s an activity worth doing. Just prepare enough cash, the entree tickets are not included.
The driver told us a lot of interesting stories about Jogja’s history and culture. He was also very flexible with the itinerary and even took us to places that were outside of the plan. He also recommended a lot of local spots that can maximize the Jogja experience. Overall, 11/10!
I joined 1 day tour to borobudur temple, prambanan temple and plaosan temple. KADEK, my driver/guide was excellent in his knowledge and hospitality. He kindly helped me to book/buy a web ticket of borobudur clime which starts sometime afternoon (morning tickets were all sold out). He was just so flexible to arrange visits to those temples according to the ticket. Borobudur is indeed a must-see and view from the top was also stanning. I had such a nice and memorable day. Arigato KADEK!
It was a nice trip to timang beach and jomblang cave. The driver assisted us from start to finish, and was punctual and polite.
This is a great one day tour to explore the natural attractions around Jogja. It was quite thrilling for me as I have slight acrophobia. The descent into the cave was quite an experience and the workers will make sure you get the perfect photo inside. At Timang beach, I opted to walk the bridge - another thrilling activity and once again, the workers will help get the perfect shot on the bridge & island. My guide, Ardi, was kind and took care of me every step of the tour.
I visited with Ardi as my guide. Very easy pick up collection from my hostel and took me for a lovely breakfast on the journey. Jomblang cave is beautiful, we were lucky with the weather and the cave light was perfect. Then Ardi drove me to the village before Timang beach, where you pay a driver to take you out to the beach. Also very pretty spot!
It was tiring cause of trekking through the cave but memorable is an experience that u will nvr get to experience elsewhere. The guide is helpful and friendly, Truly and unforgettable experience.
An excellent one day tour of Yogyakarta. Our local guide is a humorous and helpful person. He told many historical and interesting stories in Yogyakarta area to us. The attactions are amazing and exciting. Indonesia is a such beautiful place and I hope to meet you again in the future.
A memorable trip to the both to Jomblang and Timang. Both beautiful in different landscapes It was a two hour ride from Yogja city to Jomblang with a quick stop by Rio, to a local delicacy Thiwul Ayu’s kitchen . Fresh thiwul and Gula Jawa. Rio, our Pte hire, from Javanese Vacations is knowledgeable, picks up hints of your interests, gives recommendations of food, places of interest and most importantly flexible with our plans, arranging tickets to places of interest and routes smoothly On to Timang Beach, a rugged jeep ride to the star attraction. Was happy Rio came along with us as he too learned more about the local community and shared with us too. His jovial and caring personality made this trip a fun, comfy trip even for my 82y/o dad Rio brought us to an eatery for a good bowl of mee rebus, frequented by locals. Wouldn’t not have stopped by there if not for his recommendation. Bonus.. he even brought local kuihs for us to try. Generously sharing his Javanese food, life and culture Good overall experience
The tour was great the cave and the beach were both beautiful in their own right and our driver was very nice and funny and taught us a lot about the indonesian culture and history.
Great day trip, beautiful cave and fine guide. You start early in the morning as its more than one hour drive from yogya. Its well worth it though.
Ardi was so kind and friendly. He took us around Yogyakarta the whole day. He also brought us to drink the famous Yogyakarta coffe. This was a fantastic day and I would definitely recommend Ardi
A great day. My driver was great and efficient. Jomblang cave was magnificent and I loved seeing the waves crashing up the cliffs at Timang Beach
He is patient and accommodating. Gives useful tips for my travels such as where to get batik and cakes. Will recommend him highly.
The trip to Jomblang cave and Timang Beach is amazing. At first I’m a little bit scared because I have to travel alone on that day. However, it turn out to be one of the best day in Yogyakatar. The Jomblang cave’s ray of light is amazingly beautiful and very unique. The cave team is very professional and make me feel very safe and they are very good photographer too. Got a lot of nice shots despite a lone traveler:) The Timang beach is also very beautiful with series of big waves in ultramarine blue ocean hitting the big rocks. Amazing to see the power of nature and enjoy the beach in cool comfortable weather. The jeep and gondola ride are also very fun and the team there are also very good with photographing too. They help me get lots of nice photos particularly the one with BIG wave. Thank you Ardi, an amazing driver and a wonderful guide, who brought me around and help me to have the best day in Yogyakarta.
Our experience was awesome! Our guide Hotma was knowledgeable, thoughtful, friendly, and very very fun! The cave was beyond our expectations for beauty and splendor. (You’ll likely get muddy and it’s very slippery but truly a unique place) The beach isn’t really a beach but it’s an amazing small rock island and the views are wonderful.
My driver Santos was absolutely great! He helped me throughout the day and and super happy with the whole experience! He was very flexible and we changed timang beach to cave tubing in pindul cus I wanted that!
Rio, my driver/guide was so lovely and thoughtful. He brought a disposal shower cap for my hair so it wouldn’t get all mucked up in the helmet. I get bad motion sickness so he kept checking if I was ok during the jeep ride to the gondola. He even offered to help me book a train ticket to the airport so I could save money and when the airline unexpectedly changed my flight to an earlier flight at the last minute (Lion Air who is apparently notorious for that) he tried to help me speak to someone at the airline (no luck, again Lion Air issue) so then he arranged a driver to take me the the airport for my very early flight. He was great at taking pictures & videos. He wasn’t all that hung up on time like all of my previous drivers, he was more interested that I was comfortable and enjoying myself. He went above and beyond. Also also a solo female, I appreciate that i didn’t get any weird vibes from him and the company took just me, most companies in the Indonesia won’t take just one person or if they do it comes at a premium cost. Highly recommend the tour (super fun), company and Rio!!
I had a perfect day, Jomblang cave and Timang beach are two amazing places, I recommend them if you stay in Yogyakarta. I travel alone but my driver made me feel like I was not alone, he was very nice and funny, thanks to him. Plan aroud 900k Rp more because everything is not included in the cost but it's worth it.
We had a great, adventurous day with Wedha as our driver. He was really helpful, stopping everytime when we needed something and also provided flashlights for the cave. The cave was stunning. Be prepared to get really dirty and bring spare clothes and shoes with you . Everything you bring to the cave will be caked in mud after ;) The beach was lovely. The way down with a little jeep is really bumpy and wild though, but fun! Also bring enough cash for the day because you can't pay with card. It's 500.000 rupiah per person for the cave (including equipment and lunch) and 350.00 for the jeep.
What a truly fantastic day! From the moment Satrio picked us up at our hotel he made sure we would have an enjoyable day. He was noticeably more helpful than any of the other drivers/guides we noted. He was more than accommodating to additional stops and even suggested other spots we might want to visit. We will definitely reach back out to Satrio on return visits to Indonesia! Jomblang Cave was magical, truly a not to miss experience if you’re in the area. The sun’s rays illuminating the cave was a natural sight to behold. The guides were SO helpful and made sure everyone got the photos they wanted; we never felt rushed.
My friend and I were on vacation from San Francisco and planned a 4-night stay in Yogyakarta. On our third day, we decided to take the day tour to Jomblang Cave & Timang Beach for our last day here. We selected Javanese Vacation. The cave was magical. But, the highlight of the tour is our driver, Satrio. He took care of us, from picking out the boots for the cave adventure, to coordinating with the cave crew to do video for us, etc. He was very helpful all the 13 hours that he drove us around. We wished he had been our driver for the entire time we were in Yogyakarta. For sure, we will use his service again the next time we’re in Yogyakarta and will recommend him to anyone visiting Yogyakarta.
With private driver, Billy Holliday we visited this tourist attraction. Billy gac this voir for us chosen and it turned out to be a hit.... after an exciting jeep ride up you have a magnificent view of Timang. Then try the fresh lobster downstairs again. Delicious.....
I can only highly recommend this excursion. The cave is magical, even mystical, and the rock on Timang beach is just incredible with a breathtaking view. The only downside is that the lunch is not good. It's not Javanese vacation's fault, lunch is included in the cave visit. Special mention for Rio, the guide and driver who accompanied me, an adorable, caring and very attentive man. Water wipe after visits to clean your face because it is very hot. Thank you for everything !!
Rio was a fantastic guide, caring to show us the best of Yogy. We also visited the temples with him the day before, a must in Yogyakarta. Very attentive and willing to help us with everything. If you travel through this area, a guide is essential and Rio met all our expectations. Is learning Spanish
Wedha, under driver was super friendly and helpful. The driving was respectful and reserved, we felt safe throughout. We adapted the tour a bit and made jomblang Cave as well as timang Beach. Both were very cool, the suspension bridge and view on the beach our highlight
The driver was very flexible in responding to our requests. Originally, it was only a transfer between the hotel and the tour site, but when I told them I needed to head to the airport as soon as possible, they dropped me off. The tour also required cash payment on site, but the experience was also thrilling and enriched.
The driver was very kind and took us to the local beach at our request, in addition to Zhongbrang Dong and Tianwang Island. The view is fantastic. Explore lots of local cuisine. It arrived on time too. Talking to the driver throughout, the details were in place and ice water was provided on a hot summer day. Gives us lots of useful travel advice. At the same time, it also introduces us to a lot of local cultural history. No thunder, recommended. It feels like the more people charter the bus, the better the deal. In short, we are very grateful to the driver for all his efforts and contributions during our journey! If you are planning a trip to Indonesia and need a good driver, we highly recommend him.
I can recommend this tour without restrictions. Jomblang Cave is a spectacular view and Timang Beach is also worth a visit. My tour through my driver, Rio, was particularly good. He is very friendly and explained a lot to me. The tour with him is very flexible as he is always ready to respond to individual wishes. Anyone who would like to experience a little adventure in the surroundings of Yogyakarta should book this tour!
We highly recommend this experience: first the jomblang cave is just splendid, it is two hours out of time and will leave you with memories full of head. The visit was continued by an excellent local meal. Then we went to see Timang beach by JEEP (counting in addition 350000 IDR / by jeep). We ended the day on a high rating. Thank you to our guide who was great all day!!
