The Westin Zhongshan Guzhen is ideal for business travelers and families seeking comfort, luxury, and convenience.
I stayed at the Westin in Guzhen during the Lighting Fair in October 2024. The hotel has excellent infrastructure, modern rooms, and is very well located for anyone visiting the fair. The property itself is impressive and well maintained.
However, there were a few drawbacks. One thing I found frustrating was that guests seemed to smoke almost everywhere, and this often carried into common areas, which affected the overall experience. As a vegetarian traveler, I also found the food options quite limited. There were very few vegetarian choices and virtually no Indian food available during my stay.
While the hotel scores well on its physical infrastructure and location, the hospitality felt somewhat impersonal and lacked the warmth and attentiveness expected from a premium international hotel brand.
Overall, a good business hotel for the Lighting Fair, but there is definitely room for improvement in guest experience, food variety, and service standards.
the rooms are not particularly soundproof. all it takes is any gaggle of geriatric geese to pass thru the corridors, and you WILL hear the ruckus. if you plan on sleeping in (at this hotel), pray they don’t float thru your floor especially at 7-8am.
not sure if about the soundproofing quality, or a testament to how unbelievably loud they are. its adorable they are so superstitious about evil spirits, yet they are loud enough to wake the dead.
in terms of the area - there are not much amenities around. there’s a mall downstairs with a Watsons and KFC. the rest of the retail shops from Level 2 and up are vacant.
note: this ‘Westin’ is 4 stars. the other Westin in Guangzhou is the one with the 5 star rating.
If you're going to charge western prices, please have English speaking people. Also the food was absolutely terrible and way overpriced. The breakfast was inedible... And $8.9aud for a cappuccino?!?... A bad one at that!!! I love to splurge when I travel but I don't like being ripped off.
