The Shanhaitian Resort Sanya, Autograph Collection

My stay at the Sanhaitian Resort Sanya was a mix of fantastic amenities and a few noticeable drawbacks, but overall a decent experience if you know what to expect. The property itself is beautiful, and despite the hotel having a lot of guests, the amenities never felt crowded. We spent three days utilizing the two huge outdoor pools, one on the first floor that is shallow and great for kids, and a warmer infinity pool on the third floor. Both stay open late and were wonderfully quiet. The rooms are incredibly spacious, featuring a large bathtub with a beautiful view and a balcony that offers stunning scenery during both the day and night. One of the absolute highlights is the breakfast buffet, which runs until 12 PM which is perfect if you want to sleep in! They offer a massive selection of Asian and Western food, including delicious Chinese wonton noodles, fresh fruit, baked goods, eggs, sausages, and dairy. The hotel's location is also a plus, situated right by the beach and next to the JW Marriott, making for a lovely coastal walk. Just keep in mind that the beach itself is quite dirty, so you'll likely prefer sticking to the hotel pools. There were a few downsides to our stay. None of the staff spoke English, though they did their best to communicate using translation machines. The rooms also weren't 100% clean; the balcony glass was quite dusty, and the shower had very minimal ventilation. Additionally, the pillows were incredibly soft, sinking completely and offering zero head support. Finally, I would skip dining at the hotel outside of breakfast, as the restaurants are quite overpriced. We ordered a snack platter with nachos, fries, sausages, and fried fish at the Casa Carona pool bar for around $20 AUD, and the portion was small, stale, and tasted terrible. Do yourself a favor and just order food delivery directly to the hotel through Alipay instead!

Stayed here in October 2024 and had a great stay! Amazing room and enjoyed the infinity pool which was fabulous to swim in the evening. The location is less commercial than other parts of Sanya and there are many local restaurants surrounding the hotel to try. Popular with Russian and domestic tourists. Hotel also very close to deer peak with gorgeous views of Sanya bay at sunset.

A beautiful hotel that can be a great value and offers striking views of the ocean in comfortable, modern rooms. I had a two night stay here right after the Golden Week peak period. The hotel is strikingly designed from the moment you see it up to the individual rooms. Probably one of the best views in the area and along a stretch of beach that sees a lot less traffic. It's not the type of beach that you'll want to play on (more rocky than sandy) but a short walk away will be that type of beach. For Marriott elites, the hotel's breakfast is one of the better ones I've seen in China. And the best part is their breakfast policy, the hours last all the way until 2 PM which is great for those on vacation. The pools are fantastic as well, with excellent design and great vistas. I was very, very pleased with everything except for the fact that the gym is not 24 hours. If you want to use the gym at night, you'll have to go to the adjacent JW, which also offered reciprocal pool access to those at the Shanhaitian when I stayed there.

The staff at Autograph made this one of the best hotels we had ever stayed in. Eric, the manager was amazing, so professional and went out of his way to help us. Gavin, May and Fay made breakfast time really wonderful, went out of their way to add personal touches every morning. We highly recommend this hotel, ideal for swimming, gymming and close to the beach.
