Our stay here was too short. From arrival to departure, we enjoyed the utmost comfort and had our every need catered to. Our room was also upgraded to a river view room which made it extra special. It was incredibly spacious, clean, and didn’t lack any amenities. The included breakfast is select but of high quality. Kylie was particularly lovely and ensured our check out was as quick as possible as we continued on our travels. I would stay again the next time I am in Guangzhou.
I wish I could give 5 stars to this hotel, but several drawbacks dont allow me to do so:
1) I booked with the hilton app, but there was no way to chat with the hotel through the app, however I got a room upgrade to the suite which was very nice, and I liked the dimmed light mood.
2) Brekfast wise ( I hope it helps others cause i couldn’t find many reviews about this part) the a la carte options are very nice, although you can pick just one per category, and there is also a dim sum area, although many items were constantly sold out while I was there, at any time of the breakfast. The buffet instead was very small and could have been avoided completely.
3) The wifi was a nightmare, as others said: to register, you need an otp verification which worked just on a Chinese number, so if you have esim and non chinese friend is a mess. Moreover, the wifi is quite slow and blocks many western app; i thought would be the same in the whole city, but for example at the intercontinental the wifi was easy to access and allowed you to use WhatsApp etc.
4) Service wise, the language barrier was high, even from the reception, and, once my room was not cleaned until the afternoon, I had to ask the front desk 3 times to clean it before finally they sent someone to clean.
I feel the hotel is kinda cheap (75 eur per night )to be one of the SLH hotels, but considering the many options China has in terms of fancy hotels (Intercontinental was just 20 eur more), they should improve some aspects of the customer experience, for example they cannot call gym a small room with one treadmill.
Great stay. Super-welcome from the young Mei Nü and Shuai Ge, explaining all about the hotel and history. Upgraded to river-facing rooms with small balcony, massive bath and bed, sofa and 2 tvs. High end toiletries, fruit basket delivered. Also comp’d free drink on roof top bar and the next day’s fresh made breakfast. Highly recommended, surpassed the dingy entrance expectations 😆
A really great hotel! It was perfectly quiet, and I had an excellent night’s sleep. The breakfast was delicious, and in the bathroom there was a wide selection of Rituals gels, shampoos, and everything you need for a truly relaxing stay.
Nice boutique hotel with river view. Room are rather spacious, tastefully decorated and great service. Locations is near to many eateries, and walking street. The only comment I had is that the lighting in the room are rather dim since there is only yellow lights.
