Lavande Hotels Guangzhou North Railway Station

A good hotel for the price. The rooms are a bit dated, but the bed is huge and very comfortable, there's a refrigerator that kept my drinks and fruit chilled, blackout curtains, and a powerful air conditioner. The staff is friendly. They don't speak English, but they're always willing to help. Linens and towels were changed regularly, and there's a laundromat with a dryer on the top floor. Breakfasts are varied and plentiful. I love Chinese food, so everything was delicious. European cuisine was represented by desserts: biscuits and delicious Portuguese pastéis de nata. The location is also excellent, near the lovely Hong Xiuquan Park. Huadu Railway Station and Guangzhou North are within walking distance. In the mornings, a food market opens right next to the hotel, with all the expected exotic items: crocodile parts, seafood, live chickens and pigeons. In the evening, a food street opens in the same place, with skewers of shrimp, duck heads, and grasshoppers.
