Jianguo Hotel Guangzhou

“Good, but noisy !” We had a good stay at this hotel. Facilities were reasonable for the price, but the rooms are showing their age. Everything was good for majority of the time and stay. It is a great location and didi will pick up in front of hotel. Our room was on 19th floor and the daily maid was exceptional. She was caring and always working hard. She helped with the tv remote upon our initial entry into the room. She was on the older side, but Employee of the month or year is deserving. Breakfast was good, with a wide variety of Asian and western foods. Gym facility was good too, with a variety of free weights and good machines. Now the 3 worst parts of the hotel. 1. The bathroom is showing their age with water stains and deteriorating door paint/trim. Just takes away from the overall room. 2. The worst and most annoying part is the noise from outside. People must be oblivious to others, as they were practically yelling and the noise carried into our room. 3. The concierge was not helpful at all to foreigners. We asked for simple things several times, but they would not help in any way. At least try to communicate via a translation app to help your patrons. I asked if they spoke English and got little from them at all. They were older and hence not in board to helping people. Over paid dinosaurs given a title and they did not represent the hotel well !! This used to be a terrific hotel, now is a run down shell of its former glory. It’s turned into a Chinese only prob 2.5 star hotel. They still call it 5star. That is simply not true. Staff are not interested in customers. Especially the ones in the lobby cafe and the restaurant on 2nd floor. The buffets are crap, the bar on 2nd floor has closed. Just a run down place now. Give it a miss I will be.

perfect location. close to good food of all budget ranges. hotel is dated but true 5 star service. staff were amazing. had a problem with the room. They gave a few other rooms to check. great place to stay with families. out door pool. fantastic gym. concierge was happy to order some stuff online for us. super helpful. most front desk staff had good english. they also ordered a big van for our party of 5 and luggage to airport about 350yuan. cheaper if u used didi but this was hassle free.

Had a great experience thanks to Finn in concierge. He really helped me throughout my stay and went above and beyond without me asking. He deserves a raise! Room was quite dated and theres no proper windows to let fresh air in, but breakfast was good. Free shuttle to Canton trade fair.
