Hilton Haikou Meilan

We booked one night here because it’s close to the port for the ferry back to the mainland. We checked in at 6:30 PM with our two kids, 8 and 2. We left 40 minutes later. The smell hits you in the lobby, follows you down the corridor, and is waiting in the room — stale cigarette smoke, as if the place had been soaked in it for years. The room: both the shower and toilet glass doors swing shut on their own, hard enough that you have to catch them so they don’t break. The glass on both is yellowed and the rubber seals have gone brown. When I opened the shower, there was still standing water on the floor — at 6:30 PM, long after the room should have been cleaned and ready. Then the socket at the reading desk, where I went to charge my phone: someone had shoved a piece of metal into it. I was travelling with a 2-year-old. Photo attached. I had also requested an ice bucket days in advance when booking. We waited 40 minutes in the room. It never came. That was enough. I dropped the key cards in the express checkout box and we went to another hotel. The building is from 2015, but it has been allowed to age far beyond its years. Whatever the Hilton name is supposed to guarantee, it wasn’t here.

Hilton Haikou Meilan is my favourite place to stay in Haikou, and I keep coming back because the rooms are spacious, spotless, and very comfortable. I especially love the balcony, where I can sit outside, relax, and enjoy the peaceful views. One of this property's highlights is the outdoor space. The pools are immaculate, the grounds are beautifully maintained, and direct beach access creates a true resort atmosphere. Everything is pristine and well cared for, making it easy to spend an entire day relaxing without ever leaving the property. The buffet is another standout. It offers an excellent variety of fresh, high-quality food, and it is one of my favourite hotel buffets in Haikou. I also ordered room service during one of my stays, and the food arrived hot, fresh, and delicious. Even when we're not staying overnight, we've visited just to enjoy the buffet and the pool facilities. For travellers planning a visit, it's worth noting that the hotel is in the Meilan District, away from the busy downtown core. If you're looking for a resort-style getaway with a quieter atmosphere, this location is ideal. It's also conveniently close to Haikou Meilan International Airport, making it an excellent choice for early flights, late arrivals, or a relaxing start or end to your trip. While downtown Haikou is a drive away, the peaceful setting, beach access, and resort amenities more than make up for it. If you're seeking a luxurious, relaxing escape in Haikou with outstanding service, beautiful facilities, and a true resort feel, I highly recommend Hilton Haikou Meilan.

Excellent customer service - Praising Amber who handled our case. We check in with a broken door lock, the relocated us to another room however the room was mouldy so we requested for a room change. We got upgraded to a new room bigger than what we booked. As an apology, they sent us a fruit platter. We also misplaced our stroller, they used the CCTV to help us track down the cab driver and managed to get it back for us. The bell boys are extremely nice too helped us with food order at Mei Tuan. Though hotel location is not the best and most convenient. I would highly recommend this hotel for their EXCELLENT 5 star service. I really feel their genuine heart to serve… Even the cleaner aunties are helpful. Giving me an umbrella knowing that it is a hot weather out there.. Thank you Amber, Auntie Xiulan.

Fantastic hotel, lovely room with great sea view. Lovely reception area, nice food and great kids facilities. Lots of different pools, little boats to use in pool and a splash area with slides. Small animal petting area and lovely gardens.
