We stayed for 7 nights as a family of 4 (8 and 11 year old) in a 2 Double Standard Ocean View over Easter in April 2026. The room was modern, spacious and had amazing views. Most of the staff don't speak English but it wasn't a problem for us as we didn't have to communicate at all to the hotel as we didn't have any issues at all during our stay. There was one staff at the front desk who could speak English if we needed anything and they added us on WeChat if we had any questions. There were endless kids activities but they were intended for younger kids. Our kids enjoyed the pools everyday. The breakfast buffet was amazing! Everything you can think of and more. There is a 24 hour laundry in the hotel which was handy and the hotel can provide complimentary detergent when requested. There was a free shuttle to and from the airport which we utilised. If we wanted to leave the hotel to explore the surrounding area we used Didi.

A great hotel with spacious, comfortable rooms and excellent facilities and services. It is however focused on families and children. There are few facilities outside the hotel.
The service is amazing. One of us was unwell and the staff helped us with a doctor and medicine. They were also very thoughtful and brought hot food for us cos we could not go down. On this alone, they deserve the highest score. Their children activities aren’t as well done and extensive than Shangri-la which is just next door (we visited in Nov 2024), and Shangri-la cost less than half its rates. The larger room and service, in my opinion, does not warrant double the rates of Shangri-la. Shangri-la has a much larger real estate, a huge open field, archery and zip line for kids, and a Petting zoo. The children chef activity was also a much better experience than Crowne Plaza with real baking involved. Overall, Crowne Plaza still is a great experience, just not as value for money. Ps: our personal concierge Molly was EXCELLENT!! She’s a keeper!
Two disappointments despite the remarkable level of service given in this property : 1/ The room floor was VERY VERY dirty. We used a towel to wash it twice and this was not enough. We had to call housekeeping to make it acceptable but even after they washed, wiping the ground still made towels grey. (they generally have a problem with cleaning floors as the alleys in the garden are not that clean neither, and some toilets in the pool areas are not well maintained). 2/ We got upgraded to the same room type but with Club Lounge access BEFORE reaching the hotel (That's what IHG App and website displayed). Club lounge access got reconfirmed at check-in by the front desk agent, but club lounge access got denied the next day. Very upsetting.... Mr. Kris and Mr Hong used patience and kindness to solve the issue, but it's very annoying to look like begging for a service that is granted prior to arrival, and reconfirmed at check-in. If I put those incidents aside (I really went mad), the overall facility is great. Standard Rooms are big with lots of free extra for kids available upon request. I've never seen such a large and full set of amenities, including the bathrobe, bath products and plush for kid, skincare, a welcome gift with Rituals beauty products, and the stacked mini bar upon arrival. The "Forest" kids club was an excitement for our 6 years old daughter who particularly appreciated the service of her guardian angel Stella, but the other smaller kids room and outdoor park also provided nice play time with good staff. Service in general is excellent and really really remarkable. It is above higher range hotels I've visited in multiple countries, and one can feel that efforts are made with consistency by all staff members, throughout the entire property. On a chill and windy day, the Life Guards even came to us to provide warm towels as we exited the pool. Yes there is a language barrier as only the front desk staff seems to speak English (I'm from a non-English speaking country). But the guest ambassador helps solve any need and provide constant flow of useful information throughout the stay, including information on the multiple activities organized during our stay (Thanks to Luke !). Breakfast was good with lots of options for both Asian and non Asians. Lounge food was varied and particularly savoury, even for my French gourmet palate. Crowne Plaza Haitang Bay is exemplary for the Service provided and a live demonstration of what Hospitality and Services shall be in a 5 star hotel. Their commitment to guests made our stay memorable, and we would be happy to come back.
If you have young kids (1 to 6) this is the best hotel I’ve been too. Read on if you don’t have kids. The attention to detail at this place for children is first class. From the mini dressing gowns and slippers for the little ones in the bedroom to the bibs and plastic bowls on all of the tables for breakfast lunch and dinner. Outside there are three swimming pools with a mini waterpark and inside there is an arcade to keep the kids entertained plus a huge indoor climbing centre/treehouse set up. The downside for Australians it is a little bit difficult to get to, but maybe that will change if flights fly direct from Sydney to Sanya. However, if you do not have young children, this is definitely not the hotel for you. I don’t think they want to cater to the adult market which is fine. No cocktails by the pool here 😃. Oh and weirdly they won’t let you swim in the sea? However Sanya has many first class hotels to cater for all types so if you can get here it’s worth the trip. But if you have kids you’re not going to go wrong.
