We had a great stay at the Crowne Plaza hotel. It was off season, so we had the place to ourselves in many ways! The rooms were spacious and comfortable, though the hotel itself a little dated/needing TLC in places - and we saw some wonderful views and sunsets. Location is great also. We hired scooters (best to get the ones outside the hotel, cheaper and great service there too!) and explored the island that way. Best of all, however, was the great service we received. Many thanks to Barbara and her staff at reception and throughout the hotel for being so nice! Hailing Island may not be on people's top list of places to go, but it's highly recommended for those who want to explore a different part of China. Accessible by direct high speed rail train from Hong Kong to Yangjiang and then a thirty minute taxi. Overall a great place to stay and have as your base to explore the island.
