Andaz Shenzhen Bay, By Hyatt

As a repeated customer, this is our 6th stay at Andaz Shenzhen since 2024. We have in the past enjoyed the interior design of the hotel and its location. However, the “software” of the hotel seems to fail to up-keep its branding of a category 5, which in Hyatt lingo reflects their premium (best of the best) branding. As a Discoverist member (which makes me doubt what is the use of being a member to this degree of loyalty as there are so many good hotels to choose from), no acknowledgement was ever made upon check-in, seemingly the “same old” formula is being repeated over and over again without any kind of change, like the Happy Hour from 5:30 to 7:30 PM - same old Chilean wines, same formula of morsels, such as chips, candy, salad, pickles etc. Which is unfortunate, in such a premium architecture, its contents such as food and drinks are sub-par. Breakfast is chaotic, where diners have to walk long ways for food at stations at far ends of each other. Dishes and cups have to asked for, at these different stations, which have not been replenished in time. If this kind of dearth exists, same applies to some of the foods especially the steamed buns, corn section, hot soy milk. As a price point of $3K rmb for a night, to have buns and dumplings, pastries, banana cake which could be bought off a supermarket shelf is lack-luster, quick and unimaginative, especially for a category 5 branding. It was never always like this, a far cry from the praise we had given on our first visit right after COVID when travel opened up, when Andaz Shenzhen fully carried the weight of a category 5 branding as experienced with their personal service, food quality, room servicing quality. Now, Andaz SZ, still good, simply based on its architectural design and on its convenient location in the SZ Bay Area, only if the category is not a 5, perhaps, a 3?, which means the price-point is not valued at $3K per night…

A truly exquisite Hotel, fantastic location opposite the Park and water. Easy walk to many shops and restaurants but what truly sets this Hotel apart is the service and quality of the rooms, restaurants and bars. Stunning in every way. The rooms on level 20 had amazing views (the only criticism would be the car horns all night from the pedestrian crossing is very annoying) the rooms are spacious and cleaned beautifully. We had amazing breakfasts each day and had one lunch in the West End. Would highly recommend and will be sure to stay again.

Staff in and outside lobby have 10/10 service and hospitality. Rooms are very clean and boutique, also the lobby and lounge bar area! Superb Boutique hotel!

Loving this Andaz hotel and its surroundings. Breakfast was fantastic with a la carte orders and buffet, dim-sum is a must. Hotel interior is subtle elegant with retro vibe. Perks are evening Happy Hours 5~7 pm for hotel guests and comp in-room mini bar. Walked next to a new shopping mall with lots of great food and coffee options. Hotel is next to the Shenzhen Bay Culture Square by MAD architect. We visit the design exhibits and have a quick bite in the lower level food street- ramen, shabu, sushi, Chinese noodle, tea kiosk, bakery and a pink McDonald. Evening stroll by the park to enjoy the breeze. Everything nearby is modern and evolving.
