Xi'an: Top 3 Highlights All Inclusive Private Day Tour

We really enjoyed out two days in Xi'an with Steven from Catherine Lu Tours! We did the private tour where we got to choose which sites to visit, mostly museums. Steven took great care of us, suggesting timing, restaurants, and other aspects that made out two days a great success. He was knowledgeable about Chinese history and generous with his time and expertise. It was especially helpful to have him get all the tickets and provide a car to drop us off and pick us up promptly at all the sites.

Our guide Agnes and driver Mr Chao created a fantastic experience for me and my family. Agnes was knowledgeable, friendly, and made us feel like nothing is any trouble to her.

Awesome way to visit these attractions. Our guide Agnes and our driver were terrific. Our electric SUV was fantastic and the driver superb. Agnes really knows her history and will guide you through to get the very best views of each attraction. This is a must do tour.

Vivian is as an excellent guide and helped us navigate all the entry points with ease and minimal waiting. Terracotta warriors were very interesting. She even suggested that we take time out of our tour for a foot massage so it would be a little later (and cooler) when we visited the old city wall. Overall a good tour.

We absolutely loved this tour and highly recommend it! Our guide Kai and our driver Mr Goo were fabulous. Kai was so knowledgeable of the terra-cotta Warriors, the history and the excavation process we learned so much.

I can really highly recommend this trip. Our guide Julia was absolutely brilliant … so friendly and informative. Her English is excellent and she was able to answer all our questions (we had many!) She navigated us brilliantly through the terracotta warriors exhibit, and we enjoyed our time tremendously at all three sights. It was a fantastic day. Great guiding, highly informative. Our guide had lots of little tips to beat the heavy crowds (a must during the peak summer season!). Smooth transfers in a very comfortable private vehicle. We couldn’t have replicated the experience on our own!

My visit to Xi’an was an unforgettable experience. The Terracotta Army was absolutely breathtaking and one of the most impressive historical sites I have ever seen. Standing among thousands of life-sized warriors and horses made history feel truly alive. I also greatly enjoyed visiting the Bell Tower, one of the city’s most beautiful landmarks. Its traditional architecture and central location make it a wonderful place to admire Xi’an’s atmosphere and rich cultural heritage. Another highlight was walking along the Xi’an City Wall. The wall is remarkably well preserved, and exploring it offered beautiful views of both the historic and modern parts of the city. Xi’an is a fascinating destination, full of history, culture, and unforgettable sights. I highly recommend visiting the Terracotta Army, the Bell Tower, and the City Wall to anyone travelling to China.

It is quite a long day when the temperature is high! However, Rosa was an excellent tour guide and was always one step ahead, carrying things for us to allow us to take photos and finding the best places for us to get unobstructed photos. Our driver was also great and always ready to open doors and hand out cold bottles of water. Our son actually struggled in the heat and we had to finish early but Rosa booked our tickets for the city walls to allow us visit them later when it was cooler. The lunch was also delicious.

Had a wonderful tour! Out tour guide was Grace she was excellent Knowledgeable, polite, attentive and a great photographer. She knew best spots to take the photos. Lunch she booked was excellent. Grace speaks excellent English which made things so much easier through out the day. Book this tour you won’t regret it and make sure to ask for Grace!

Agnes was our guide for the day, who is very fluent in English and had a wealth of information about each place we visit She was promptly ready waiting in advance of our scheduled meet time so we set off 10mins early for terracotta warriors with our chauffeur for day in luxury car. Enroute she enquired what we had done already in Xi’an.and established we had been on the Xm city wall already to ride bikes so she suggested modified itinerary to visit mosque later in afternoon She is very proud of her city and shares so much information outside of the main tourist sites. She suggested the camel show for later in afternoon (extra cost) but there is so much to see in Xi’an and we only had few days so decided to give that one.a miss Thanks Agnes for sharing Xi’an history and highlights with us

We visited Xi'an with our two young boys, covering the Terracotta Warriors, Big Goose Pagoda, and the Ancient City Wall — and honestly, our guide Rose made all the difference. Her historical knowledge is extraordinary. At the Terracotta Warriors, she didn't just walk us through the site — she brought it to life, explaining the intricate craftsmanship behind each warrior, the hierarchy embedded in their postures and features, and the sheer ambition of what Qin Shi Huang set out to build. At the Big Goose Pagoda, she wove in wonderful anecdotes about Xuanzang's journey and the temple alongside it that we would never have discovered on our own. Her storytelling is genuinely captivating — the kind that stays with you long after the visit. What also stood out was how naturally she engaged with our kids throughout. She kept them entertained, involved, and curious rather than bored and restless — no small feat at archaeological sites. She never rushed us, let the children take their time, and tailored her explanations so everyone stayed engaged. She also has a sharp eye for the best vantage points and photo spots — clearly someone who knows these places intimately, not just professionally. Every stop felt considered and unhurried. If I'm honest, Xi'an was shaping up to be the quieter part of our China itinerary until she came along. She elevated it into one of the highlights of our entire trip. Rosa was our guide who communicated with us about what we wanted to see. It was really hot (36+C) that day so we changed the itinerary that morning when she came to pick us up. We went to the City Walls in the morning when it was cooler to walk the top and take some pictures and learn some history about this ancient city. After we had our fill, we were driven to the Museum where Rosa led us again through the 3 tombs/museums to see the terra-cotta soldiers. Most of the museum/area is covered and had A/C. The size of the tombs is incredible and the museum does a great job of showing you what was buried. We were taken to a local restaurant nearby and had delicious noodle dishes. At this point, our family was tired and we decided to just return to the hotel. Great time and happy with our guide and driver. Rosa gave us the right amount of information to keep us happy.

Rena and her driver Mr Chao were amazing. Ms Rena was friendly, patient, and well versed in her history. They picked us up at our hotel and spent the next 13 hours driving us to several historical places, lunch, and their recommendation for dinner and the theater were spot on. Our group of three was varied with a local, one from Brazil, one from North America. We had a fabulous time, a wonderful day, and the terra-cotta soldiers did not disappoint. Food all day was great. A special shout out to Miss Rena, she made our day fabulous. Highly recommend her and this Travelocity package.

Rosa was an excellent tour guide in Xi'an. She conducted herself with formal professionalism and delivered incredibly insightful knowledge of Chinese history, which made our visit to each site much more meaningful and enriching. Rosa was very well organized and ensured we had the best viewing and photo opportunities at the Terracotta Warriors, Big Goose Pagoda (we booked this in top of the tour), Xi'an City Wall, and the Muslim Quarters, including the Drum and Bell Towers. She also chose a wonderful restaurant for lunch and helped us order a nice variety of both local Xi'an specialties and popular Chinese dishes so we could enjoy a good mix of flavors. The overall logistics of the tour were streamlined and hassle-free. Rosa handled all attraction tickets for us and even coordinated wheelchair support at the Terracotta Warriors site, which was greatly appreciated given my mother-in-law’s mobility limitations. This level of care made the day much more comfortable and enjoyable for our whole family. We are so grateful we found Catherine Lu Tours. They provided us with a wonderful, well-organized experience in Xi'an that exceeded our expectations. Thank you Rosa and the entire team!

I can highly recommend Catherine Lu and her team. We had a fantastic day with her guide Rosa visiting the Terracotta Army. The whole experience was 5 star and we had one of the best days. The driver was great, very professional and the car was spacious and very clean. Rosa spoke perfect English and gave us some really interesting information and facts. I could tell a lot of planning and thought had gone into the tour. At the museum we were shown the main sights plus some extra little things which we would have never noticed. Rosa made sure we were happy and were seeing everything, she had a great way of delivering the tour. My wife and I are fairly seasoned travellers and this tour was one of the best we have had. Wonderful full day! Our guide, William, was knowledgeable, communicative, and sensitive to our needs. At the end of the day we had an excellent understanding of the unification of China, the Qin Dynasty, the reason for the terracotta warriors, etc., and the importance of the Big Wild Goose Pagoda, and a calligraphy lesson (we had already visited the city wall), so William arranged a calligraphy lesson instead. Highly recommend! Also, the interaction with Viatour was easy and the driver was also excellent.

No response to my questions from Catherine after my payment made for a private tour “Top 3 highlights all inclusive in 8 hours”! Tried to contact the assigned tour guide Grace one day before the private tour but she is not reachable and not responding until I asked my hotel concierge to call Grace to re confirm the pick up time and venue. After a while, Grace finally sent me a message and told me to assign another tour guide Agnes at the last minutes. We met Agnes and the driver and they have no idea about the new arrangement. A bit disappointing about this unresponsive situation and they should be more proactive to inform me any changes ahead and not make me to reach out to them so many times and waited for their replies!

It was a super cool adventure! My guide Elith was so friendly and communicative, I had the best time learning from her as much as I could and also getting invaluable thoughts on Xi'an local specs. The lunch she treated me was divine (and neither she nor I ran from the challenge of eating it like a local, one bite on the garlic, one bite on the noodles 🤭😋). It's an amazing tour with so much to take from the fascinating story of China's old capital. It just felt the best. Thank you very much for this experience, I am elated!!!!

Wow! Really looked after by our guide Rosa and the driver. They were both fabulous, she was really informative and friendly. We had great fun. Vehicle was super luxury and the places they took us to was unreal. She even arranged for us to go and see the Silk Road show after. 5 stars all the way for the trip. And 6 stars for Rosa !!!

Rosa is an outstanding guide. The Terracotta tour is great but crowded. Rosa knew all the important details and was brilliant amongst the crowds in knowing where to go for the best photos. For a private tour, which was for a couple, this was perfect. Recommend.

From the start, Rosa was absolutely perfect – friendly, funny, and incredibly knowledgeable. She knew exactly how to avoid the long lines at the Terracotta Warriors Museum, using clever tricks that gave us more time to actually enjoy the exhibits instead of waiting in queues. Thanks to her, we got to see the most beautiful and important parts of the site without the stress. Rosa also gave us clear, well-structured explanations about Chinese history and everything we were seeing. It made the experience so much more meaningful and interesting. We even had enough time left to enjoy a bike ride on the ancient city wall and visit the Big Wild Goose Pagoda – both great additions to an already packed day. Rosa speaks fluent English, and we honestly can’t imagine a better guide for exploring Xi’an. If you’re planning to visit the highlights of the city, make sure to ask for her – you won’t regret it!

One of the best tours we’ve received so far on our China trip. Rosa was a phenomenal guide; she was extremely informed not only about the historical sites we visited but also knew a significant amount of Chinese history to further enhance our tour experience. She encouraged us to go to the Silk Road concert as well, which was a life changing experience and a definite must-watch. She also went out of her way to find lunch options that fitted our tastes and even introduced us to a uniquely Xi’an milk tea. Our Xian experience would not have been complete without her!

Great private tour! Rosa walked us through the Muslim Quarter streets in Xi’an and she recommended us the best biang biang noodles spot of the city! After that we saw the Wild Goose Pagoda and Rosa told to us many interesting stories about this place! She has been super flexible and nice with us! The trip to Xi’an to see the Terra Cotta Warriors is well worth the time. Catherine Lu Tours provides a first class experience. Communication with Lu made me feel very comfortable in using her agency. All of the details were managed very professionally. Our tour guide was Rosa. We couldn’t have asked for a more wonderfully entertaining and experienced guide. During our drive from the train station she provided a very good explanation of why the warriors came to be and how they were found. She provided a wealth of information in each of the three buildings that comprise the museum. We were given ample time to walk around and take pictures of the pits. I didn’t realize that there is an active archeological dig as well as restoration project ongoing at the site.
