It was a very informative, personalised and enlightening tour of Xi’an. Michael was our tour guide and Mr Liu, our driver. I booked this tour as I wanted a more personal and carefully curated tour for me and my 81 year old mom. No regrets at all. When I shared my concerns on my mom’s limited abilities to deal with stairs, it was taken note of and everything was managed with care and efficiency. Basically, once I confirmed the tour, All I had to do was to show up with my mom at the hotel lobby and not worry about anything else. What made the experience even more comfortable was the fact that we weren’t taken to tourist places to shop along the places of attraction. That was a great relief! Mr Liu, our driver, was equally thoughtful. He. took care to park at places where my mom could get into the car easier. This tour company is highly recommended for those who prefer a well-paced, comfortable yet informative tour!

This City Wall is the best preserved and most complete wall that has survived through China’s long history. It is about 12 meters high, 12 to 14 meters wide across the top and 15 to 18 meters thick at the bottom. The entire circumference is about 13.7 kilometers. It can take a while if you choose to walk all through.
Get off the City Wall and proceed to have a stroll in Muslim Quarter. Learn about all kinds of folk art and taste various snacks here.As a block famous for its various food, although the Muslim Quarter is regarded as a tourism spot for the tourists coming from other places, the locals considered it as the place for snacks and entertainment. Especially in summer, you can find tons of local people having snacks and amusing themselves there. Besides the Beiyuanmen Street, Daxuexi Street and Xiyangshi, there are also a large area including Dapiyuan, Dongyangshi, Beiguangji Street and Qiaozikou. Old Xian people call these areas as “Fangshang”. In here, you can find the true Xian lifestyle. However, these places need your further discovery.

Our guide was amazing ! She was really professional but also funny. She made us feel engaged during the whole tour and was quick to adapted to whatever we wanted. She provided us with a lot of infos about the different monuments and could also answer our questions. We were extremely happy with the experience overall.
This was a wonderful seamless day. Despite it being a massive Chinese tourtist week, our guide, Shine, was able to wisk us through efficiently. Shine conveyed a wealth of information; she has been a guide almost her entire life. She has a great sense of humor and a clear plan for how we went about exploring this massive park. The site itself - it goes without saying - is mind boggling. Also, the efforts take to restore and preservce the soldiers is another epic tale. Afterwards, Shine took us to a restauant in the park, that was both upscale and classic. Perfect place to buy tea for a souvineer. As an America, I tend to discount park concessions -- this restaurant was traditinal and beautiful. Excellent food. We then returned to Xian to tour the city wall. It, too was hard to believe. Do go. The tour was to end up at the Muslm Quarter, however, we opted out, as we visited the day before.... and we spent extra time viewing the soldiers and city wall. Bottomline: Shine was a wonderful guide. Lily coordinated the tour, and she, too, made the trip so easy. I have only good comments and memories for this tour!
Hello. Lily's Private Tours is amazing! My tour was a one day tour customised for my own prefences. My enlightened tourguide Jackie took me on a private tour around Xian. We visited 3 temples, the Wild Goose Pagoda, we watched a folk lore show, walked through Datang ever bright city, and had lunch. We also strolled down a upbeat street for where all the young ones hang out. It was pretty awesome. I imagine the night scene would be really inviting to younger crowds. We started at about 8am, we finished at about 4:30pm. It was great timing and very leisurely. I thoroughly enjoyed learning about the temples and the differences and similarities... learned about localisation and indigenisation wrt the temples. The folklore was entertaining and brought about a sense of understanding about the culture in Xian and China. We interviewed a college student about his visits to several tempes in Xian. It made the tour even more worthwhile. I thoroughly enjoyed the tour and conversations with Jackie. He is an amazing tour guide. I would recommend using Lily's Private Tours! Thank you Lily and Jackie for an amazing experience! Will see you on my next vacay!!! - Kerina.
I had a good time on this tour with Cathy. She has a lot of knowledge about the warriors and she was always happy to take me and my sister pictures. This made the tour very enjoyable. Having Cathy there made the experience more memorable because I was able to understand and made it very hassle free. She was very sweet and I felt she listened to our needs. The car ride was very comfortable too and very convenient for us. I recommend this tour and I would request Cathy if you can.
We loved this tour, during which we learned a lot about Xi’an’s history thanks to Cathy K our guide who was so knowledgeable and interesting to listen to 🙂. In addition she has been very proactive in trying that we wouldn’t suffer too much from the crowd (as we did this visit on a national holiday). The tour was well balanced between walking and resting time, the restaurant we had lunch into was simple yet really nice and we are happy we got the chance to discover it. We can only warmly recommend this tour ☺️.
This tour is so great. Even the youngest of our 3 kids enjoyed it ! Cathy K our guide was so knowledgeable and her way of telling us about Xi’an’s history was so interesting that we all learned a lot and the day went by really fast ! In addition she was very attentive to our needs and very pro-active in finding ways then we wouldn’t suffer too much from the crowd as we did our tour on a national holiday there really many people. I really strongly recommend this option if you don’t have much time to visit Xi’an.
We had a fantastic private day tour with our family of 5 (3 teenagers) and Michael with the driver Mr Wong. The tour consisted of Xian City Wall, Muslim Quarter and the Terracota Warriors , with lunch at an authentic restaurant trying the famous Biang Biang noodles. Everything was bespoke to our needs as our son has severe autism, ADHD, and all 3 kids with nut allergy. Michael made sure all the scheduling was as perfect as we could imagine it . The tour was made as comfortable as it could in the heat of summer at 35 degrees ! We even cycled a.section of the Xian wall to the kids delight. We would highly recommend Lily's tour with Michael ! Thanks for a perfect day.
Totally recomended tour in Xi'an! My guide, Michael, was superb! Nice guy, friendly, easy talk, very good English, and great guide. He continuously shared interesting facts about every place we visit, as well as suggestions of other things to do to make my stay in Xi'an more enjoyable. Food was also great, and Michael recommended some very traditional Xi'an dishes which were very tasty. Michael even dropped me off in a very nice area that evening as per my request, after we finished the tour, and gave me some tips about things to do, which ended up being one of the best moments I had in the city. 100% recommended!
My day tour of Xi’an was pleasant thanks to my guide, Michael. It was holiday but we had an early start to the day which was helpful in beating the crowd. I loved everything Xi’an and got to see the major landmarks (Terracotta Army, city wall and Muslim quarter) and tried very delicious food all in a day’s work. As a history buff, seeing the Terracotta Army was a dream come true for me. Michael was Passionate, Personal, Present and well Prepared! He was thoughtful of my needs as a solo traveller (taking pictures, going to restroom etc.). He impressed me with his knowledge about the overall historical development of Xi’an - from ancient to modern city. I learned a lot, and had an overall good experience 🤩💯 Thanks to Michael, the driver and Lily. Best wishes, Emmie from South Africa
We booked 5 days with Lily and cannot praise them enough. From Beijing to Xi’an to Chengdu, Vivian, Cathy and Cheryl were amazing! Knowledgeable, willing to accommodate our specific requests and each found us great local places to eat. Having drivers who can meet you and help you negotiate getting in and out of train stations and airports made all the difference.
Michael was a knowledgeable and very friendly tour guide. A superb morning at terracotta museum followed by a lovely lunch at a local restaurant and an afternoon spent exploring the wall. I couldn't recommend this tour highly enough. Also a big shout out to the driver Mr Jie.
We had an amazing customized tour, our guide Jackie was very great. We were picked up at train station and he took us to halal restaurant for breakfast, the food was very delicious. Then we went to City wall of Xian, Big wild goose pagoda, muslim quarter to prayer there and had lunch, then continued the tour to The Terracota Warriors. Jackie had great knowledge about the history of the places we visited and abaout Xian city, he was very fun, kind and informative. He took us to local restaurant for dinner and helped us when check in at the airport at night. My father and my children really like him. I would highly recommend this tour to my friends and families. I would like to contact this tour again when I visit China on next trip. Thank you Jackie & Lily for wonderful trip.
Amazing private tour by Xian with Cindy, all visits including terracotta warriors absolutely wonderful, driver was very good and very professional, highly recommend this tour with Cindy, such a great experience
We had such a wonderful time in Xi'an!!! We arrived on Wednesday and Lily set up a driver to pick us up from the train station in a spacious, air-conditioned minivan. Our driver was there waiting for us and took us straight to the car with no issues at all. The following day, Michael and the same driver picked us up from our hotel (Gran Melia - fabulous hotel in such a great, new part of town!) and they were early, which is always a plus. They drove us to the Terracota Army where we spent a couple hours in the morning. Michael was great with our family (3 kids ages 6, 9 and 11) and had a good idea of how much info to give the kids and how long to stay at each spot. He kept us moving along and everyone had a great time! After that, we went for a bike ride along the ancient city walls - - one of the best parts of our trip!!!! Michael arranged the bikes and helmets for us (don't know how we could've done it without him!) and he outfitted us with 1 tandem bike and 3 single bikes. We spent 2 hours riding and stopping for pictures and some cold drinks. It was WONDERFUL and we got lucky with a cooler day. Michael and our driver were waiting for us by the bike office so as soon as we were done, they got us right back into the air-conditioned van. Then we were driven to the Muslim Quarters which we all enjoyed SO MUCH! What a sight to see and lots of smells and tastes to experience. He was so patient with us as we searched for food our children would eat - hahah! We had a really nice time checking out that area and Michael was wonderful helping us get around, being our personal photographer :) and helping translate when our kids had questions or we stopped into the shops. It was really a terrific experience and one of our favorite days of the trip! Many thanks to Lily for arranging a wonderful day for us!!!
We were picked up on the dot by Michael, who got us out to the Terracotta Warriors before the BIG crowds hit (and they were already swelling when we arrived). Mr Jia, the driver, drove like a gent, nothing like cowboy taxi rides I’ve had when O/S. Michael really knows everything you need: immensely detailed knowledge of Chinese history, of the stories and culture around the first emperor and the warriors. He was bright and cheery, calm and knowledgeable. He was really clever how he moved us around the exhibition, finding quiet spots to prep us for the next sections, knowing where best to stop and show us details we would absolutely have missed by ourselves. He loves the subject and really unpacks the details - especially where the individual warriors and the stunning bronze chariot/emperor’s carriage are displayed. After the warriors, he guided us away from the vast exit crowds and off to a great nearby restaurant (avoiding the on-site fast food). We gorged on delicious local noodle specialties and salads. We visited the Eastern Gate & walls. Alas it was way too hot to ride along the walls, but that would have been brilliant. Recommended if you get the chance! Nevertheless Michael gave us the context of the walls in Xi’an’s ancient and modern history, of the bell and drum towers. We wrapped up with a walk through the Muslim quarter. We were so stuffed from lunch that we didn’t want to eat anything, so Michael adapted the tour to take us through back streets and to a market that happened to be on our day. That was fascinating, getting a view of Xi’an street life. It also meant we felt confident to return to the Muslim quarter that night for dinner and to enjoy the promenading crowds. I was thrilled with this tour. It was worth every cent. Michael is a great guide and I really recommend him if you want a great tour.
We had a fantastic tour throughout Xi’An, and our brilliant guide was Michael. We were picked up at 8 at our hotel to get a bit of a head start on the crowds getting to the Terracotta Warriors. We were driven there, and then shown around all the open pits, with Michael giving us a history of the emperor and his family as we were walking. The terracotta warriors were incredible, so detailed and lifelike. We were then driven to a nearby restaurant with the most amazing long noodles! Everything was so delicious. We forgot to pay for lunch though which was a bit embarrassing but Michael was really helpful and organised a way for the money to get back to the restaurant. We were driven back into the city and visited the city wall. We were given a bit of a history lesson and told about the developments throughout the dynasties. It was a bit warm to go bike riding so we went for a stroll instead. Then, we went to the nearby Muslim quarter and explored a street market, before having a look around the street food. It was really incredible. Finally dropped back at the hotel for a rest. Really wonderful day, and we got to see so much of Xi’An!
Lily is an amazing host, welcoming, friendly and very easy going. It was a special day learning about the Terracota history, discovering farmers cave house, enjoying delicious spinach noodles and visiting the emperor tombs. I felt special in this private tour, pampered and learned a lot about Xi’an and China. I strongly recommend Lily.
The Xi'an Classic Day Tour was one of the highlights of our trip to China. Michael was a wonderful guide with excellent English and so friendly. Our driver was great too! Michael helped us order the best meal of our trip at a local restaurant. Without his informative guidance at the Terracotta Warriors we would have not known about the finer details of the warriors' history. We learnt so much from Michael and will never forget his kindness. We felt safe in his capable hands. We cannot recommend this tour to highly.
My experience with Tour Operator was really good. Very prompt and clear emails response from my first request. The tour itself was made with Cathy and she was good and open guide. She was also flexible as we add some more unplanned site as there was spare time until our train time. Overall I recommend this tour operator
This is a great tour for first timers to China or Xi'an. It is a private tour - driver, guide plus the two of us. The booking process is easy and Lily was communicative about the details well in advance. There was some issue locating us at our hotel and she was persistent in calling us to make sure that we had reached and were ready to go the next morning. We exchanged a couple of texts with our guide Cathy and she recommended an early start (8 AM) to get places before traffic nightmares and crowds! Our guide turned out to be Jackie (as Cathy was out with a cold) and he turned out to be a fun, informative and excellent guide. He had local knowledge but also supplemented information that would be more interesting to American tourists. We started at the Terracotta warriors site/museum and hands down this is a place you need to go BUT you will benefit from a small group and a knowledgeable guide like Jackie. So much history and information but he managed to keep it both interesting and easy to absorb :) Lunch was biang biang noodles - highlight of the day (we cover lunch). We went off to see the city wall followed by a guided walk through the Muslim Quarter and a calligraphy market ending at the Beilin Museum. With Jackie helping us out, we got to know rates for places to come later on our own, other attractions and timings, where/how to get discounts and even hand drawn maps with metro stations to guide us on other days!! He even wrote us instructions in Mandarin to show to people to process our requests! Best part - he followed up via email on the remaining two days to make sure we were ok and also to check on what we saw. Amazing experience and we would say that if possible request Jackie when you book this tour - he is worth it!!
We are a family of 5 from US and booked this tour way in advance with Lily Tours. Lily was great to work with while booking and was able to answer all our questions and accommodated additional requests for the tour. Michael Chang was our guide on this tour. Michael was very knowledgeable about Xi'an and the tour itself. He is SUPER nice and a very professional guide. He was very good in camera too which was very important for us. The lunch he brought us too in the Terracotta area was excellent! The Biang-biang noodles of Xi'an was the highlight:) Michael waited patiently for us as we took our time biking all of the 14 kms of the City Wall. Then - he brought us to the Muslim quarter to try out some local food. Michael - you are the man sir! THANK YOU! - Danny and Lea Martinez and 3 young adult kids
We so enjoyed our time on Xi’an made even more special by Lily. This tour goes without saying how good it was. Lily arranged our train station transfers and additional tour to Grottoes in Luoyang. She works very hard to ensure anywhere you go in China you’ll be happy. Highly recommend.
We visited Xian and on the tour saw the Terracotta warriors and the city wall. Our guide was Jackie. He was great helped us see everything and explained everything in great detail. Would highly recommend him for tours in this area. He was also flexible in that the hotel we originally booked we found out didn't exist (thanks hotels.com). But we booked one on the fly when we got there, and he was accommodating of the last minute changes to the pickup location.
I greatly enjoyed this tour. My guide, Cathy, was friendly and knowledgable. Lily was accessible and answered all of my questions before and after the tour. While I went primarily to see the Terracotta Warriors, I was very impressed by the other parts of Xian that we visited. I wish I had stayed in Xian longer. Overall, I highly recommend Lily's Private Tours!
We booked a last minute tour to see the terracotta warriors with Lily’s tours and that was just the best decision we did! We were met by our guide Jackie at 9am sharp in the hotel lobby, and we were off on our Xi’an adventure. Jackie is very friendly, and very knowledgeable about the history of ancient China. Fluent in English, he explained to us the various excavation sites, and pointed out the finer points. We went to a local noodle restaurant; the black pepper beef and the “3 in 1” noodles were simply delicious! The Han Yan Ling mausoleum was also very interesting, made all the more by Jackie. Thanks so much to Jackie and Lily’s tours for making our day simply perfect!
We would highly recommend Cathy and Lily's tours to our friends and others. I found this tour on TripAdvisor and the price was reasonable compared to other tours. Cathy, our sweet and knowledgeable tour guide, sent me a text to say when she'd pick us up at the hotel. I was taking my college age daughter and friend to see the Terracotta Warriors. We began our drive to the Terracotta Warriors around 9:30 am. We rode in a comfortable mini van that had water and snacks for us. Cathy shared information about the warriors and the history of the Dynasty's. When we arrived Cathy bought our tickets and walked us to the exhibit. Amazing to see and Cathy shared all kinds of interesting facts about the warriors. She was also helpful with taking our group pictures and took great pictures with our cameras. Cathy gave us plenty of time to wander around and explore exhibits. After we were done we stopped at the markets outside the museum and she had us try the local persimmon fruit...so sweet and delicious! Next we went to a local and best noodle restaurant in the area. Cathy ordered for us and we had noodles, chicken, and veggies...really good food. Our next stop was the Xi'an City Wall. We wandered around and had fun. Cathy, once again, shared great information about the Wall and we moved onto the Bell Tower and Drum Tower. We wrapped up the tour walking through the Muslim market and tried a sweet dessert that Cathy bought for us to try. Cathy has great command of the English language and was so kind. When I bring my husband and son I will definitely book with Lily's Private Tour!
We were picked up promptly at our hotel by our guide Cathy and Mr. Fung, the driver in a comfortable van which was stocked with water. Our first stop was the Terracotta Warriors site. Cathy was very knowledgeable about the history and the ongoing excavation. We never felt hurried and were able to enjoy all aspects of the site. We then went to the Han Yang Ling Mausoleum and also to see a typical farmer's home. Cathy was great- friendly and very excited to share her knowledge of what we were seeing. We stopped at a great local restaurant for lunch. We never felt like we were being pressured to shop and buy something as some tours are said to do. We would not have learned half as much as we did if we had tried to do it on our own or with a large group. We would highly recommend Cathy and Lily's tours!
Lily did an amazing job providing us the best services possible to make our Xi'an tour memorable. Lily was very prompt in responding to my emails and provided me with all the details I asked for. Our tour guide, Wendy and the driver were eagerly waiting to receive us at the train station. They sure made us feel so welcome. Wendy went out of the way to give us the experience of tasting yummy authentic local food ( dumplings and date soup). Then we proceeded to visit the Terracotta Warriors Museum and spent the morning there. Wendy spoke fluent English, was very knowledgeable and kept us actively engaged/entertained all through. Even my daughter thoroughly enjoyed her company as she was very lively, energetic and ever smiling. She took us to a local restaurant for lunch and saw to it that we were comfortable. In the afternoon we visited the City Wall and Bell & Drum Towers. In the evening we had a leisurely walk at the Muslim Quarters and Wendy briefed us on all the highlights. She was so friendly and we all felt connected to her. In the evening Wendy made sure that we are dropped at the railway station to catch the train. I would highly recommend Lily's tour services to all my friends/family and anyone reading this review! Thanks for the memorable experience Lily!
Wendy, my tour guide was great. Besides being professional she has indepth understanding of Chinese history, she provided great context and background as we visited various sites. Highly recommend her.
Our large family which included my wife and I, the in-laws and our 3 children enjoyed the Private Xi'an Classic Day Tour which included all tickets and an amazing lunch at a local restaurant that isn't a tourist trap. Cathy who was our tour guide did an outstanding job taking care of all of our needs from small children being tired to us older ones and our issues also and still provided a quality tour above any of the other tour groups in that area. We started with the pick-up in the morning at our hotel and Cathy immediately "clicked" with all of us and the kids loved her and enjoyed learning Chinese and local customs from her as we went to the first location at the Terracotta Warriors Museum. We spent the morning there and had some shopping within the museum. Cathy's knowledge of the area and her ability to communicate with our younger ones made the experience just that much more special to us and really made our day. After spending the morning there we went to lunch in town close to the Terracotta Warriors Museum and had just the best meal we had our whole time we were in China at a local restaurant. Cathy took care of all the ordering and sat and explained what all the food was. After that we moved back into the city to the City Wall and then to the Bell & Drum Towers before ending at the Muslim Quarter. After that we were taken back to our hotel. In the end it was really Cathy that made the tour what it was and that much more special for all of us in our family. I HIGHLY recommend Lily's Private Tours for any needs while your are in Xi'an!!
We visited Xian from Shanghai in one day and was met at the airport by Jackie. He was extremely friendly and very enthusiastic . He chatted with us at great length about the history of his country and his knowledge of ours ( Uk) was vast as well. He was well organised and although our visit was short he managed our time excellently making sure we saw all we wanted to see. He even escorted us back into the departure lounge of the airport to make sure we were checked in and our flight in time etc. I would recommend Jackie and Lily’s tours to anyone travelling to China. We were given the details by Miki tours who we used whilst in Shanghai who were also great. Thanks again Jackie.
I only had a day in Xian to see the Terracotta warriors and some of the cultural highlights of the old walled city. Michael was recommended to me and he was a fantastic guide for the day. He really helped me to understand the history of the Terracotta warriors and their significance in the development of modern day China. This made the visit and my experience was much richer as a result. Lunch at a local Chinese restaurant was also great as were visiting the Great Goose Pagoda, the Muslim Quarter and the City Walls.
First off let me say our guide Michael was spectacular. We were on a whirlwind adventure and I booked us a day tour to make sure we didn’t miss the highlights of Xi’an. Michael made sure we saw all and learned a lot too. Terracotta warrior visit was spectacular, lunch was delicious, the city wall amazing and the Muslim district and drum and bell tower were great. We only had a short time in Xian and Michael made sure we made the most of it. Knowledgeable in regional and national history and culture. Timed everything perfectly for us and made an awesome day and memories with us
We knew there would be a lot of people at the Terra Cotta Warrior Museum but Cathy was excellent finding gaps among the people so we could see better and explained everything in perfect English. We enjoyed talking to Cathy about Chinese history. She was quite knowledgeable. We had a wonderful lunch, saw Muslim quarter, and biked on the ancient wall. The day was finished off with the the dumpling dinner show of ancient Chinese Tang Dynasty dance and music. A long hot day but everything went smoothly. Excellent!
My wife and I visited Xian with Michael for a day. He was terrific. He was very knowledgable of the history of Xian and the Terracotta Warriors. We had a great day with him. After we visited the Terracotta Warriors we had a great lunch. He took us to a local restaurant where we tried some Xian noodles. They were so good and very affordable. We then head out to the wall and had a great time there as well. Visited the Muslim area and it was interesting to see all the different food they had to offer. I would definitely recommend Michael and Lily's company if you happen to visit this historic city. Michael thank you for the great memories. Ruben
We booked the classic day tour fairly last minute and unbeknownst to us on the Labor Day holiday weekend. Lily was very responsive and accommodating over the email and even suggested we set off earlier to avoid the crowds which we were so thankful for. Our guide Michael was incredibly knowledgeable, friendly and professional. He spoke fantastic English and we engaged in fascinating conversations about his life and what it was like to grow up in rural China and how the country and city of Xi’an has changed. We rode comfortably in a van equipped with AC and plenty of water and the driving felt western standard and safe. The tour itself of the Terracotta Warriors is beyond imagination and comprehension. It was incredible to see them in the condition they are today. We weren’t disappointed. Following this we made some adjustments to our itinerary which Michael had no issue in implementing, we decided to skip lunch and head straight back into the city and saw the Drum Tower, Muslim Quarter and the City Wall bike tour. Michael really went above and beyond to make us feel comfortable, suggesting we detour to the hotel to collect hats, sunnies and sun cream for our bike ride of the wall which was perfect. He even bought me some herbal tea as I had been coughing profusely the entire tour which was incredibly thoughtful and sweet and he helped us hire a bike and took photos for us the whole day. We had a truly amazing experience, Michael’s approachability and demeanor felt to us more like being guided by a friend or family member and his depth of knowledge will not leave you disappointed. My sincerest thanks for your services and I wish you both all the best for the future. Apologies for the very late review!
Our time in Xi'an was limited, and our excellent tour guide Cathy helped us make the best of our time there. We were picked up right on time at our hotel and spent the morning at the Bell tower, Muslim quarter and City wall. On the way to the Terracotta warriors we stopped for lunch and enjoyed a "Chinese Hamburger." We then spent the afternoon at the Terracotta museum. After the museum tour we stopped for a snack before being dropped off at the airport. Our guide Cathy spoke english well and made sure we were comfortable and were enjoying our tour. There was no forced shopping, and Cathy helped us avoid peddlers. She even followed up with us the next day to make sure we got to our destination. I would highly recommend this tour if you only have one day in Xi'an!
We booked a 1-day tour with Lily's Tours that we customized with what we wanted: namely the Terracotta Warriors Museum, City Wall, the Bell and Drum Towers' square and the Muslim Quarter. Cathy was our guide and she did a great job. We didn't feel rushed and our kids along with us both learned some history in addition to having a lot of fun. Lily herself made a point to meet us back at the hotel at the end of the day to ensure we had a memorable stay in Xi'an. Lily also helped with car transport to the airport which was much appreciated! Overall I would definitely recommend working with Lily/Cathy if you're coming to Xi'an rather than larger tour companies where you won't see the personal touch and effort that they gave us!
My wife and I decided at the last minute to arrange a tour in Xian. Lily was able to arrange the tour and work through our issues with PayPal in China. Her communication and understanding made a complicated problem easy to resolve and ensured we were able to take a wonderful tour. We were met promptly at our hotel by Wendy. She was fabulous as a guide. Her knowledge was great and her English fluent which I’ve heard can be an issue. Definitely not for Wendy! We had a fantastic morning at the Terracotta Warriors and then Wendy took us to a delicious restaurant for lunch. We explained that we loved food of all sorts and Wendy was up to the challenge, ordering us an array of wonderful dishes. We may have missed this lunch if not for Wendy as it was only Chinese menus with no pictures to help. After lunch we visited the city wall and the Muslim Quarter, bot of which were quite interesting. I would definitely recommend booking a tour with Lily’s Private Tours, and make sure to ask for Wendy.
Jackie really knew the city and all the historical sites. A few of us were sick, but Jackie was able to accommodate for this and allowed us to do just as much as we could handle. We learned a lot about the Terra Cotta Solidiers and the different sites. He was able to answer not just questions about the history behind the sites, but as well as questions about China in general. We were very thankful for his guidance and kindness.
Jackie was our guide, and he did a great job. His knowledge of the Terra Cotta warriors was great, which you would expect. It was All the extra attention. Walking us to the Shuyuan Culture center so we could explore on our own the next day. Showing us where to go to enjoy the Lantern Festival. All these were beyond the core of the tour. Really added to our enjoyment of Xi’an. Thanks.
I just want to thank our guide Jackie (张明) for our wonderful day in Xi'an. He provided us with a worry free, fun day in Xi'an and was very knowledgable of all the places we went and assisted us with getting transport back to the airport at the end of the day. I would highly recommend this tour, tour company, and guide!

We booked this private tour for a party of 3 (two seniors, one adult) and had a wonderful time! Victoria was extremely friendly, knowledgeable, had a great sense of humor, and spoke English well. On the drive to the Terracotta Warriors, she gave us a history lesson, along with some popular folklore. Once arrived at the site, we were given the option of which pit we wanted to start with. We opted for Pit 1, which was definitely the most impressive. For each Pit, we had free time to explore and take pictures before meeting again to continue the tour. After the Terracotta Warriors, we opted to grab lunch. I told Victoria that we wanted to try the local noodles (biang biang) and she took us to a spot downtown. She helped us order the noodles and other specialities. Everything was absolutely delicious! After we paid for lunch, Victoria offered to pay for her share, which we declined though it was very much appreciated. Next it was off to the City Wall. There are bike and tram options, but we decided to walk from the East Gate to the South Gate. The walk took longer than usual as member in my party was having some foot problems, but Victoria was very patient. Next we headed to the Muslim Quarter. Victoria treated us to her favorite dessert (persimmon cakes) was which a nice surprise. Then we went to view the drum and bell towers - entrance was not included on this tour, although we were given the option to go up the tower if we wanted to. Afterwards, we were driven back to our hotel. The highlight of this tour was definitely the Terracotta Warriors and Victoria herself!

I checked on TripAdvisor for tours for Xi’an and narrowed them down to 2. Lily was prompt at answering questions and worked up an itinerary already with cost clearly detailed. I had Michael Chiang as my guide and he was most excellent - not only knowledgeable but very responsive to changes in the flow of tour. I needed to take more shots of the terra cotta soldiers with different lenses and he was flexible in changing our route and waiting so I can get what I needed. It was my first day in Xi’an and I didn’t anticipate a packed schedule getting to me so quickly. So I asked if the Tang Dynasty show/dinner can be cancelled. Promptly and without difficulty they cancelled that for me with no extra cost, ticket refunded. Overall the tour was well arranged, my guide Michael was more than top-notch. Lily’s tour was also responsible for arranging my day-trip to Luoyang which they also did an excellent job logistically. I again needed to change train ticket but they were very accommodating. Everyone was calm, gentle, and there was none of that urgency and impatience that we often see touring a busy city. Drivers for both Luoyang and Xi’an were friendly and considerate. I highly recommend Lily’s Tour.

Kathy our tour guide was very knowledgeable about the various sites and made the experience very interesting. We flew in for a day trip from shanghi and it was definitely worth every penny! I would highly recommend this tour!

our guide, Chris, was wonderful and very helpful on the terracota army tour. She explained everything very clearly and spoke excellent English. We had a brilliant local lunch in a very good place too. However, in the afternoon we went to the city wall and Muslim area of town, which were not so interesting compared to the Steles museum and area around this. The visit to the muslim area should be changed for a tour of the Steles museum, especially as it is at the foot of the city wall.

The experience was EXCELLENT, the guide Michael was exceptional and served us all the time with extreme kindness. Showed all the details of the various places visited, Terracota Army, City Wall, Muslim neighborhood, ... took us to a fantastic lunch and, at the end of the afternoon indicated us a sensational show where we could learn a little bit of the Silk Road, ending by leaving us at the hotel but being available for any assistance. It is important to mention that the driver was also very kind and was always punctual in the marked places. It really was a great day.
Two beautiful days in the presence of Cathy. Our guide Cathy taught us a lot about this beautiful city. This city is full of history and Cathy has passed it on to us very well. The pace was very good, not too fast, and got to see a lot of things. Nice and very competent guide.
