We had a lovely time visiting the Lake District with our tour guide Jason. His excellent driving skills and narration along the way made the day very enjoyable. Would definitely recommend this tour

Amazing experience and the trip was more enjoyable with our driver-guide Steve (aka Wookie). He also took us to some amazing locations!
We were initially unsure about going on a guided tour as we usually prefer exploring ourselves, but this trip was absolutely wonderful! We had Steve as our guide and he did an exceptional job educating us along the way about all sorts of stories from the history and folklore of the Lake District to his own life growing up and living here. Highly recommend doing this trip!
Elliot is an excellent tour guide and is very knowledgeable about the area. He also had a great recommendation for the stop for lunch in Keswick. We thoroughly enjoyed the Ten Lakes Tour!
Great views and very informative. Very narrow roads so good to have someone else drive. We gained a great sense of what the Lake District is like. Our driver Jason was excellent with his local knowledge and hike recommendations.
Really excellent tour, good value for money, would definitely recommend
A great way to see the Lake District without the fuss of driving. Able to fully appreciate the landscape around me. Guide Jason was well informed and very helpful. He took onboard what all passengers were interested in and gave extra information on these bits, for solo exploration. In true Lake District style the weather was changeable and he was flexible with where we stopped and for how long depending on this. Would definitely recommend.
The guide makes all the difference. Steve is knowledgeable and fun. And they area is both beautiful and interesting (historically & geoligically).
Excellent trip all around. Some stunning views as expected. Jason the tour guide was fantastic, very knowledgeable and friendly. The minivan was very modern, with nice air conditioning. Would recommend this to anyone.
We Had an amazing time and saw all the beautiful places , Thanks to our wonderful guide Stef .
Stef was an amazing guide, his knowledge of the lake district was unbelievable, he was kind, considerate and not once did we feel rushed. He was pleasant throughout and gave me and my son alot of knowledge about the lake district, thank you Stef was an amazing day.
This was a really fun day trip. Stef is a very patient and enthusiastic guide. I could tell he loved his job, and I'm so grateful that he took me to all these beautiful places. I wouldn't have been able to get to any of them without a car. I got loads of picturesque photos from lakes to villages.
What a wonderful day trip. The day was overcast and we worried it may detract from our experience but it absolutely did not. Our driver and guide was Tim. He made this experience so enjoyable. His enthusiasm, passion, narration, wit and driving all contributed to a fantastic tour. His knowledge brought places to life for us and his banter had everyone laughing all day. I was worried that the 8hr tour duration would be too long to be on a bus but the day went so quick and was interesting the whole time. Even though we have done this tour we will definitely do it again on our next visit to experience it on a clear day. For a rainy day in the lake district we had a lovey memorable day we will remember for a long time. 5*
Great value Brilliant commentary so knowledgeable Perfect amount of time at each stop Would recommend
I found the whole trip was just a bunch of spots that are only vista points for photo opportunities. Except for a couple of points, the trip was worthless. I did not learn about any meaningful spots or tourist sites. The trip is called “Ten Lakes tour”, but they only stopped at one lake for 15 minutes near the end. It was not worth it at all.
I took the 10 Lake Tour from Windermere. It was fantastic! There were lots of photo stops and a lunch break in Keswick. Our guide Tim was very friendly and an excellently driver. Bring hearty snacks with you because lunch was at 2:30pm. There were two stops that had cafés. Wear good shoes because some of the photo stops have quite rocky terrain.
Elliot was a fantastic guide and gave us plenty of opportunities to stretch our legs, take photos, get food etc. He was very knowledgeable about the local area and gave us a real insight into the history of this beautiful part of the country. Would highly recommend.
Highly recommend the Mountain View Ten Lakes Tour. Limited time and limited budget meant we wanted to make the most of our visit to the Lakes District seeing as much of the sightseeing highlights as we could fit in. The tour and commentary by our guide Steve delivered what we wanted and more. Steve's knowledge and passion for the history and beauty of the lakes was exceptional. The tour gave us the sightseeing overview we needed leaving us more time to relax, soak in the region and explore at our leisure during the following days.
This was the best way to see the Lake District and to get an insight as to its history all in one day! Our tour guide, Steve was a fountain of knowledge and his story telling was entertaining and enjoyable! It sure beat trying to see everything ourselves in one day! Highly recommend!
A fantastic way to experience the beauty of the lakes without the stress of driving visiting the only LAKE in the Lake District along with 9 more meres or waters and quite a few of other iconic views such as Ashness bridge the bridge house and secret view the guide was very good friendly and knowledgeable. He picked us up from our hotel and dropped us there too
We had a lovely informative tour of the Ten Lakes with our tour guide and driver Steve. His knowledge of the history of each area is so great that it feels like you are going back to those times. His driving skills so safe and excellent as he navigates through the areas. Great Day Tour. Highly recommended if you are visiting Lake District.
Stef’s passion for the people (past & present) , the Lake District and what it offers, reflected in a very informative and enjoyable experience. Many thanks.
The tour was so beautiful. Worth every penny!
Tim was an amazing guide, and a very talented driver on the narrow winding mountain roads
Wonderful trip. We saw so many places and amazing views. Our driver Mark was very experienced and knowledgeable about the area. He made the trip great.
My family did a similar tour with Mountain Goat Tours 10 years ago. We booked the same tour again this time as we enjoyed the previous day trip despite the weather condition. Today's trip was amazing, thanks to the good weather and our highly professional and warm guide, Dave. He took us to scenic spots and shared his knowledge about Windermere's past and present. He kept the time well and we thoroughly enjoyed his entertaining stories. Thanks very much, Dave.
This was the second Mountain Goat Tour that I, my wife and friends took, and it was just as bad as the Beatrix Potter Half Day tour we did with Mountain Goat. Again, I looked at the reviews before booking and it looked good but we soon found out is wasn't like the experience we were hoping for. The buses that Mountain Goat use are advertised as luxury Mercedes but it was obvious from this tour that all Mercedes are not born (or bought) equal. I have been on a lot of tours all over the world and luxury minibuses are very nice. The one we ended up on was nothing like that, bottom end, budget. The bus was full and on a very hot day (granted there was a heatwave but never the less) it felt cramped, crowded and sweaty. I don't know if the air con wasn't working or just very poor but the whole time we were on the bus it was roasting. Just to make matters worse, we ended up sitting on the side of the bus where the sun was the most, we roasted, no blinds or rotation or anything! It was like torture but I did feel sorry for the driver because he must have been hot too. We couldn't hear what was being said and my wife's friend started to get motion sickness despite taking her medication to prevent it. I have to say I feel very angry at being let down so badly twice by Mountain Goat Tours and I would not encourage anyone to go with them after my experience and the expectations they built up about the tours I went on.
We had a great day viewing the fells and lakes, of the Lake District National Park. Our Mountain Goat Tours guide Stef was very knowledgeable and provided detailed information about all the areas. He's a great driver and timed our stops perfectly. We were pleased with thel easy going overview of the Lake district
Jason the tour driver guide made an effort before we even started off to get to know all the passengers and took care to accommodate each person’s requests/needs throughout the day. He was very knowledgeable about each area and place we travelled through or stopped off at. The scenery was beautiful, the villages we drove through were quaint and the country roads added to the charm of the day. I would recommend this tour to other visitors to this region.
Fantastic tour. Guide was very experienced with the area and plenty of information. Saw so much and took all the stress away. Highly recommend this tour. All day but went so quickly
Guided Tour - May 2026 Jane was our tour guide. She did a wonderful job of giving us insights about the place and the events that happened over the centuries (esp. around mining in that area; the building of reservoirs and taking the water to Manchester). We had been on our feet most of the time when we were in England. On this tour - we spent quite a bit of time in the coach as we meandered through Lake District. The typical pitty-patty rain of England did create a little interesting moments, but nothing that significant. I had an expectation of stopping at more lakes - since the headline was ten lakes spectacular. That's not the case here. We did stop by at a few lakes or some scenic view points to see the lakes from the hills. As a tour it was very good and met my expectations, even though it was different from what I expected. The scenery as we drove around, stopped by was really amazing. It was worth the time we spent. Then there was all this some little nuggets of data - about Wordsworth, his role with the train stopping at Windermere!, the Grasmere Gingerbread family and the recipe, the various mines. And then there was this whole story about Beatrix Potter, her bequeathing all her 14 farms to National Trust on the condition they use it for rearing Herdwick sheep. We did stop at a mine in Honister Pass. They do have a tour of the mines. However, we did not have the time to do that tour of the mine (don't know if it was a good thing or not!) It was fun to see the Castlerigg Stone Circle, as we did not go to Stonehenge. Due to some road work - the traffic from Ambleside to Windermere literally crawled!! Never faced this anywhere else in all our trip. This is obviously beyond the control of the tour operator. Jane was extremely knowledgeable and we had a constant flow of information from her. She does this tour only once a week - and we were glad we made it to that. Thank you Jane! Mountain Goat: I wish you had a two-day tour option as well... It would have been worth it.
Excellent tour of the Lake District, with pick up and drop off arranged from Bowness pier. Stef, our tour guide, was absolutely fantastic and very professional. A local, brought up in the area, he had a wealth of local and historic knowledge and made the tour very informative and enjoyable. Safety was key and well managed and the way Stef calmly managed the 16 seater minibus through the single passes was excellent. Overall a thoroughly very enjoyable experience and would highly recommend this tour
This tour is a fantastic way to see the very best of the Lake District. The route was incredibly scenic, with breathtaking views throughout the day, and it felt like every turn revealed another beautiful landscape. The stops were well planned and gave us enough time to wander around, take in the scenery, explore the local areas, and enjoy each location without feeling rushed. The bus was spotless, comfortable, and very well maintained, which made the journey even more enjoyable. Our tour guide was wonderful, kind, attentive, and highly knowledgeable. He made everyone feel welcome, shared interesting information along the way, and clearly cared about ensuring that everyone had a great experience.
We were given the wrong time. Even though we got there early. So the tour started without us. It really put a damper on the day for us. I would recommend that you get your times sorted for all customers.
You can get a real understanding about the nature, living and common life of the people in the lake region
The guide is very helpful, nice, friendly and informative. He had almost never stopped his knowledgeable guiding during whole itinerary. And as a driver, he drove safely.
Brilliant itinerary. Great scenery. Stops paced just right. Minor disappointment ticket and tripadvisor stated start time 9am. Was actually 9.25am.
Matt was a fantastic guide full of fun insights and stories of the area. He was very thoughtful of our experience and managed time quite well. This was our 32nd Anniversary and Matt helped make it a memorable one. We were also honored to be Matt’s last tour before he embarks on a new chapter. We wish him the best of luck!
Very enjoyable and comprehensive tour of the Lake District National park and lakes
Jason and Tony were great guide and driver... This tour gives you a wonderful overview of the Lakes Region. A+
Excellent tour.covered places that gave an overall view of each “lake”. Very interesting, knowledgeable and entertaining commentary.Considerate driver. As a returnee I saw places I had never previously visited.
Had a fantastic time on this Lake District tour with Mark P as our guide. The pace was relaxed without ever being boring, and it felt like a really enjoyable way to experience the area — especially for a first visit. I’d definitely recommend it. I also want to mention Konomi at the information center, who was incredibly warm and helpful. She made everything much easier and was genuinely lovely to interact with. The only reason I’m giving 4 instead of 5 stars is because of an unpleasant interaction with Sarah over the phone. She called the evening before the tour to confirm my pickup location. I asked whether pickup from my hotel was possible, and she explained that changes couldn’t be made because I booked through Viator. No problem at all — I was perfectly happy to go to the original pickup point. The next morning, I was waiting exactly where the Viator app instructed me to be when Sarah called again, clearly frustrated, asking why I wasn’t at the pier. I explained that I was at the information center as listed in the app, but she continued speaking to me very aggressively and said I was making the tour late. Her job is quite literally working with people who don’t know where they’re going (AKA tourists), and she should treat customers with a bit of grace given the circumstance. Thankfully, when Mark arrived, he was extremely kind and immediately reassured me that everything was fine and that I hadn’t caused any issue. So overall: wonderful tour, wonderful guide, lovely staff at the information center… but Sarah seriously needs a chill pill.
Great way to see and hear about the Lake district made better by the driver, who knowledge and banter was brilliant
Very beautiful tour. Our tour guide Robert was excellent. I would highly recommend this tour. Every stop was just stunning.
We did the 10 Lakes visit today with Tim. We had a fantastoc day. Tim went out of his way to make the tour fun and educational, sharing his love and deep knowledge of the lakes district. We would recomend this to anyone. Absolutely a 5 out of 5
This was not a good experience. We were put off by a woman's AI commentary which sounded like it was reading randomly from a guide book. Over the top of that was the driver doing his own commentary as we drove around. The whole thing was very confusing and it felt like we were on two different tours at the same time. Why do you do this Mountain Goat, surely one or the other would be better?
An absolutely wonderful day. Our tour guide and driver extraordinaire, Tony, was amazing. Incredible driving skills on high narrow roads! Provided just enough commentary to provide information without over doing it and distracting from the amazing scenery. Perfect weather. Stunning scenery. A fabulous day with a fabulous host. Will provide life long memories.
A really enjoyable day (weather helped), and we covered a lot of ground and learned a lot. Tony really made it with his knowledge and sense of humour, he was a rock star! Excellent value too I thought.
I chose this tour because it was cheap. What a mistake! We quickly realised that it was the wrong choice because the tour ws done by a pre-recorded app with a patronising voice. It was dull and then boring and then irritating. Worse of all we were stuck with it all day!! Looking back, I wish I had booked the more expensive tour with another company because they have smaller buses and lovely drivers and guides who are full of knowledge and talk to you and answer all our quedtions (went on 2 tours with them earlier in week). My advice is spend a bit more and get a better experience.
A perfect way to get around the Lake District with someone knowledgeable of the area and experience on the road. Mark was an excellent tour guide.
