About Activity
Begin with pick-up from your hotel in Windermere, Ambleside, or Bowness, and journey from the Lake District to the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Hadrian's Wall. Travel through the scenic landscapes of northern England, passing Penrith and the historic Border Reiver country before visiting the atmospheric ruins of Lanercost Priory. Follow the route of Hadrian's Wall, discovering ancient milecastles, turrets, and some of its most spectacular surviving sections, including Steel Rigg. Continue to the Roman Army Museum to learn about life on Rome's northern frontier before visiting Vindolanda, one of Britain's most important Roman archaeological sites. After a day exploring Roman history and dramatic landscapes, return to your hotel in the Lake District. Please note that entrance fees and lunch are not included.
