8 Lakes in a Morning on Oct 17, 2026. My husband always drives so misses out on the scenery. Therefore I thought it might be nice for him to have a trip for a change instead. Our guides Gillian and driver Sandra were brilliant. Gillian was very informative, and had a good sense of humour which made it more fun. Sandra, was a lovely driver. She took us up little lanes we didn't even know where there. They took us to places which had the most amazing scenery. It was picture postcard stuff. It was a lovely, morning and well worth the money and would defiantly do another tour if we go to the Lakes again. Thank you for giving us a lovely experience

The morning 8-Lakes minibus tour was a relaxed, interactive delight, enhanced by Gillian's depth of knowledge and Sandra's expert driving around narrow lanes (and hosts of cyclists !). In four hours we gained not just knowledge, but a sense of the distinctive lifestyle that the terrain imposes on its inhabitants, not least the compromise between the tourism essential for local employment and the area's magnificent nature, which pleads for our constant respect. Gillian and Sandra were exceptional guides—knowledgeable, friendly, and fantastic storytellers. They happily answered all our questions and made the tour a wonderful experience. Highly recommended!
Tim was an excellent host, he took us to places we would never of known about without taking this tour and gave us a great account of the people who have influenced this great part if the world. Stunning scenery for some lovely photos and memories.
We had the most fabulous time. Tim was really knowledgeable and entertaining. He was as skilful a driver as he was informative. We thoroughly recommend this tour.
It was great firstly it is only four hours and when we were the Lake District it was raining so it’s great to go around by the expert explaining the main spots
We had an absolutely fantastic 8 Lakes in a Morning Half Day Tour with English Lakes Tours. From start to finish, the experience was exceptional and exceeded all our expectations. The scenery was simply breathtaking, and visiting eight beautiful lakes in just one morning was the perfect way to experience the stunning Lake District. The tour was well-paced, with plenty of opportunities to stop, take photographs, and enjoy the spectacular views without ever feeling rushed. A special mention has to go to Tim, our driver and guide. He was outstanding—friendly, professional, knowledgeable, and passionate about the Lake District. His fascinating stories, local history, and sense of humour made the journey just as enjoyable as the destinations themselves. Tim’s enthusiasm was infectious, and he went above and beyond to ensure everyone felt welcome and had a memorable experience. The minibus was comfortable, the itinerary was excellent, and everything was organised perfectly. If you’re looking for a wonderful way to explore the Lake District and learn more about its history and hidden gems, I can’t recommend English Lakes Tours highly enough. We would definitely book another tour and would be delighted to have Tim as our guide again. A truly five-star experience!
Excellent tour, informative and fun. We never could have seen such amazing sites by ourselves. Jillian and Sandra were amazing.
We all thoroughly enjoyed our trip and we were very impressed with our tour guide Gillian and driver Sandra. Their knowledge of the area was fabulous covering so many different elements. We were very lucky as there were only 3 of us and Gillian and Sandra were so well informed. It was a fantastic way to see the lakes. Highly recommend 🤩
It was just me and my wife in the minibus so we had tour guide Tim to ourselves. He was fantastic: very knowledgable, funny, and respectful. He clearly loved his job too. A great tour if you have a short trip. Highly recommended
We had an absolutely fantastic experience on the 8 Lakes tour! The scenery was breathtaking throughout, and the itinerary was perfectly paced. Gillian was an outstanding guide — incredibly knowledgeable, engaging, and full of interesting stories that really brought the Lake District to life. Sandra, our driver, was equally amazing — professional, friendly, and made us feel completely safe on the narrow and winding roads. Everything ran smoothly from start to finish. Highly recommended!
Great tour with the Lake tours Writers, poets, history, views, ginger bread - just great morning, William Wordsworth his house and family greave Beatrix Potter her story And breathtaking views over the lakes and valleys
Fantastic morning exploring a place I have never stayed before. My partner and I were staying here for 2 nights but before had only past through. Our guide Tim was lovely and put us at ease as soon as we met him. He was helpful, friendly and extremely knowledgeable about the area and it's history. Although there could have been 7 people on the trip it was only myself and my partner and we enjoyed the atmosphere greatly. It was a four hour tour and we went to so many places it would have taken days to do. The whistle-stop tour has allowed us to already book a hotel for next year in a place we can make the best use of our time and spend longer in the places that fit our interests the best. The tour is excellent for people who don't know the area well and absolutely worth every penny. Thank you Tim and team. Sharon and Richard
This tour was an unexpected delight for our holiday. Lillian our guide was a delight with her engaging, conversational style and very knowledgeable.
We joined this tour as a couple, along with two other couples. In addition to the driver, there was also a guide, and both of them were historians. They were extremely knowledgeable about the area and shared many fascinating stories throughout the tour. We were lucky with the weather and enjoyed beautiful views of lakes, farmlands, Stonehenge, and the house where Wordsworth once lived. It would have been impossible to visit so many wonderful places in such a short time on our own. The tour lasted three and a half hours, but it was packed with interesting sights and stories. It was truly a meaningful and rewarding experience—we’re really glad we joined.
A perfect way to see the lakes! Our guides were incredibly kind and knowledgeable. They provided tons of interesting information. The stops were all great to see, particularly the standing stones. So glad we did this!
Now that is what I call a true tour. History of The Lakes given by Historians. Worth every penny and more. Looking forward to my next trip already.
My husband and I loved the 8 Lakes tour. We appreciated the small group tour with our tour guide Tim. The countryside was beautiful and serene and Tim was very knowledgeable, witty and absolutely added to our enjoyment of this wonderful tour. Pleased to recommend!
We were so lucky to be the only people on the trip. The weather was awful - rain and wind. However this did not stop us having a great tour. The driver Tim was fantastic, so knowledgeable, friendly and such a safe driver. I would recommend this trip to everyone
Absolutely fantastic. We really couldn't have enjoyed it more. Tim, our brilliant guide, was constantly entertaining. His local knowledge of everything — history, geology, mythology, food, architecture, farming, politics, culture (including Wordsworth, Coleridge, Robert Southey, All Creatures Great And Small, Donald Campbell and Bluebird, Hardwicke Rawnsley, The Manchester Corporation and, of course, Beatrix Potter, who is *so much more* than we thought she was) — plus sheep (there's a lot to learn) — was AMAZING. There wasn't a single question he couldn't answer. We saw the eight lakes, plus towns, villages, viewpoints, waterfalls, corpse roads, Wordsworth’s grave, Castlerigg Stone Circle, the smallest house in the Lake District and the best smelling shop IN THE WORLD. 10/10. Would recommend to everyone, all day long. Wonderful.
While the Lakes are wonderful to visit in summer, the crisp winter air and falling snow gave the region additional beauty and majesty. Tim was a fantastic guide, adapting the tour based on the weather, and providing fascinating insights on any and all topics. This is a must do activity when in the region. Can't wait to go back and explore the rest soon.
Lake District feels right out of a fairy tale. The history associated with the various places is amazing...loved the gingerbread shop! Tim is a very knowledgeable and lovely guide.
We had the tour today. Tim was so accommodating and friendly He is excellent and awesome! That was a memorable tour!!Thanks for being our tour guide! ! We highly recommend Tim. He is an asset to the company! Thank you Tim!
It was a very well guided tour. The guide was very engaging and sweet. I would recommend people to use their service. Thank you.
This was a small group of 6 which meant it was quite personal. We found our driver to have a wealth of information and could answer any questions we had. It was a very comfy vehicle and we enjoyed all the sites we got to see on the 4hr tour
Even in the Lake District, we were taken to places that were only easily accessible by car. I'm pretty satisfied.
Everything worked out great ... from the pickup to the safe ride. In between, a trip through the Lake District with well-chosen stops. The information in between taught you about the origin and preservation of this region by dedicated people.
