What a wonderful stay this was. We arrived at the hotel at 06:30 after taking the red eye ferry. As we had arrived on a motorbike we went straight to the hotel to see if we could drop off our bags (with check in not until 3pm), which was absolutely fine. The chap on the desk was not only a pleasure to speak to, but when my partner asked if we could pay to have breakfast there that morning he granted these two weary travellers a free breakfast! Not at all expected and was a wonderful start to a wonderful stay, and without a doubt the best hotel buffet breakfast I’ve ever had. We asked if there was any chance to check in earlier than 3pm and he advised that our room was in use but took our number and said he’d ask housekeeping to clean our room first and call us when it’s available. After a ride around the mountain course we came back to the promenade, grabbed a coffee and sat people watching / falling asleep(!) for a while before heading back to the hotel. We were able to check in at 12pm which was brilliant. Every single interaction with the staff at this hotel was an absolute pleasure, they are such a lovely bunch and so accommodating. This could’ve been a rubbish hotel but the staff would make up for it. I’m pleased to say however that the hotel was not rubbish! The room was a lovely size, clean, and very well located. The bed was also huge, I think my partner and I were in different postcodes come bed time. We ate at the pan Asian restaurant next door to it on one night and that was also lovely. It’s a VERY short walk to the shops and only one road to cross before reaching the promenade. The only things for me is that the mornings were quite noisy, it often sounded like ladders clanging in the atrium. The pool area also had the steam room / sauna locked which was a shame. We did however have the pool fully to ourselves for about 40 minutes which was lovely. Neither of those things are reason to mark this hotel down - absolutely lovely stay made even better by the lovely staff. With check out at 11 and our outbound ferry not until 3pm we once again left our bags at reception and did another lap (or 4) of the mountain course before grabbing lunch in Ramsey and heading back to pick them up. The hotel was lovely but I cannot stress enough how wonderful the service was, the staff of this hotel are an absolute credit.

They coped very well with a very large group for 5 days. Food was buffet fashion and so allowed those who did not want large portions to be catered for. Staff very helpful and friendly. Special mention to those on reception as their welcoming greeting each day was lovely. The atrium bedrooms were so great did not miss the sea view. Great idea to colour code the lifts made finding your room so much easier.
The Sefton staff are so helpful, nothing was too much trouble, swimming pool was lovely the children had a ball, although i booked a family room they upgraded us for free. The suite was spacious and well maintained. Breakfast was always good with okenty of choice. Thoroughly recommend this hotel as its on the promenade and close to everything. Underground car park was just so convenient.
Had a great 3 night break here with my family for my birthday, Loved the rooms with the balcony but can get a bit noisy at night time but in general guests were respectful so it was only now and again there was someone shouting and being noisy, rooms were very hot and the breakfast was delicious with more than enough choice to suit everyone, mine was the fresh fruit followed by cheese and meats but the cooked breakfast looked delicious, staff in the breakfast room were friendly and helpful as were reception but sadly we had 3 rooms booked and over the 4 days we were there we never got rooms serviced clean towels given or tea tray and toilet roll replenished which was a let down. The swimming pool is more a paddling pool and you couldn't really get a swim but it was nice for a dip. First visited the isle of man in 1973 and still like to visit 53 years later, the hotel is perfect for the Theatre and has a bus stop right outside but is perfect for a stroll into town and harbour, would definitely return to the Sefton even with no housekeeping.
This hotel is as impressive as it looks. Excellent location, the friendly helpful staff are a credit. From the moment we arrived on the early morning ferry 06:30. We was able to leave our luggage behind reception as check-in wasn't until 3pm. Margaret on reception was lovely (as was the her co-worker, sorry I didn't catch your name). She contacted housekeeping and asked if they were able to get our room ready as early as possible. We checked in around 12 noon and were very well looked after. We got married in Douglas last year and stayed at the Sefton, we loved it so much we returned for our 1st Anniversary and were only more impressed with everyone at the Sefton. The atrium balcony rooms are beautiful, very comfortable and spacious. The cooked buffet breakfast was excellent every day. The restaurant staff (we recognised a few from last year) are very accommodating. The Encore bar is nicely decorated with outdoor seating (you can even share a bench with Norman Wisdom). The Bonzai restaurant again is amazing freshly prepared food. They have a fantastic menu and the staff are great.
